Hi everyone,
I'm a complete noob based in New Zealand and have entered my first race - it's 120km with roughly 50:50 gravel:pavement and 1600m of elevation gain. I have a 2022 Kona Rove LTD with 650b Maxxis Ramblers and flat pedals with no modifications. I'd like to change my bike specs to make it faster and was hoping someone could advise me how to do so.
I was thinking maybe getting a 700c wheelset with slicker tyres would be a good start, or would it be better to keep my 650b wheelset and get slicker tyres? Also, I assume getting clip pedals and shoes would make a difference as that is what everyone else has? Can someone recommend a good pedal/shoe setup?
I have done a bit of googling and reading Reddit threads but there are so many options and I feel so uninformed.

My white GF and I live together for 15 months. Our neighbor, who’s a white Puerto Rican guy our age, moved in around that time. We all get along and are friends, and I bring him food all the time.
My GF and I are also friends with his on-again-off-again GF whom he’s still seeing since they’re trying to make things work. She visits him about every week.
Our Puerto Rican neighbor is a lady’s man who’s also seeing other ladies. He’s short, athletic, has an MD but doesn’t practice, and is nice. So he’s an eligible bachelor that has no problems finding a date.
We three - Puerto Rican neighbor, my white GF, and I - all text each other together as a group. He typically texts us “I’ll be outside to smoke (a joint).” I don’t consume any cannabis. But those two do a lot. They smoke everyday often times together without me there while they’re outside.
The other day, we had a lot of leftover foods that we have to give away since we will be away for Thanksgiving. My GF texted him on the group chat asking him if he wanted some food that we got. Anyways, I my GF said she’d be down smoking with the neighbor.
When I went down there, I was sort of surprised that they were smoking inside his apartment on his couch. This isn’t that weird because it is definitely getting colder. So they should be inside. But they’re sitting on the same couch and smoking from the same joint.
I don’t smoke, so I feel like fifth wheel. And to tell you the truth, my downstairs “friend” doesn’t really want me there with them. He’d rather talk to my GF about his dating life and hang out with her. I have no clue what else they talk about, but I know his on-again-off-again is always mentioned. This neighbor is getting a bit too friendly with my GF over their mutual appreciation for cannabis.
When I joined them, I awkwardly sat between them not smoking any joints as they were passing it by me.
Also, when I was talking to him, he lectured me about something that I had joked about with his on-again-off-again GF last week. I made a very innocent joke saying that “he’s an awesome man and we love him even though he’s got a temper!” He admitted that “ThrowAway157079633, I know that came from a place of love, but she asked me about it.”
So this is the guy that I’m always sharing foods with, I’m always helping out, and I’m always trying to reconcile him and his OAOA GF back, and basically I’m very nice to him. But he’s lecturing me there and showing excitement with my GF.
I feel that he maybe sneaking up on my GF, even though he’s seeing some other women, including his OAOA GF. He looks at her in her eyes deeply and shares with her all kinds of details that he doesn’t with me. Moreover, his OAOA GF never goes into those details with me. I treat her like a sister, and our communication is also through group chats. As someone who doesn’t smoke cannabis, I don’t know if the act of sharing a joint is innocent.
TLDR; I feel weirded out that my GF and my buddy were sharing a joint on his couch the other day and his increasing closeness to her.

Buckle up because there's going to be a lot of info, so sorry but I couldn't summarize more:
I (24F) had been friends with, let's call him, John (24M) since we were 15. We were both part of the same group of friends in highschool and ended up becoming closer over the years.
In 2020 I realized that I had started to develop feelings for him but I didn't wanna ruin our relationship. He then also started seeing a girl, Sara, and they decided to make it official.
In 2021 we were too flirty around each other in a joke-y kind of way. He would constantly touch me unnecessarily, like massage me or sit too close. I told him how I felt and asked if he could tone down how he joked or approached me. It took a few more talks over the year for him to do it.
In 2022 I stoped liking him, but we started hanging out alone. I started to develop feelings again. They were a few times we ended up in pretty strange situations, almost too close. John was still with Sara. We had more talks and decided to not hang out alone anymore and have more boundaries. But we met up once and smoked and drank. We almost kissed but he said he couldn't because of Sara. I left the country for a couple months distanced myself from him. After a while I sent him a message saying that I was hurt he didn't care and that I had been in love with him. Everything sort of came back to normal.
Now, fast forward to 2024, he broke up with Sara. I was there for him through the break up. I again started to have feelings for him but tried to brush it off because we were really working out as friends.
Around 2 months ago we hanged out and were high when I noticed that he was being more touchy than usual. One thing led to another, he made the first move and we started making out. I broke it up almost crying and told him that I was scared that he was going to regret it. He asked why and said we wouldn't. We were together all night kissing and hugging, etc. Next morning I asked him how he was feeling, what did he want to do, if he had any regrets about what had happened. He said that he didn't. We ended up kissing again, sober.
I got super excited and happy and decided to take things slow, because I knew that even if it had been a couple months since had broken up with his ex, he hadn't moved on entirely. But he would surely feel something about all of this, right?
I talked with one of our mutual friends and she said I needed to talk with him. And then it hit me: he just thought it was a random hook up. I had been his best friend for at least 4 years, I had told him throughout the years that I had been in love with him multiple times. And he thought that we could just go back to normal as if nothing had happened. I felt used.
He texted me saying that he didn't regret what had happened but he wanted to go back to being friends, and that he didn't want me to hope we would hook up when we hang out.
I knew that my feelings for him were not going to go away at all and I would end up more hurt if I didn't break up the relationship entirely. So I took the really hard decision of asking if we could go contact 0. He didn't understand so I again told him I was in love with him. He said that he liked us being friends and that he wasn't confused about it. He left and never talked to me again, I never reached out again.
I feel like he didn't care about me or my feelings and he fucked our relationship. Like he just didn't think about us being best friends as something that would change with us hooking up. I asked him multiple times about it while it was happening so he could think about the situation.
When I met up with one of our mutual friends she said that he told her he didn't get how I could be so sensitive or affected by all of this, that it had been the both of us and that it wasn't his fault. That he was going through some personal stuff and that's why everything happened. He said he thought I had moved on since I last told him I liked him, and wasn't expecting all of this to happen.
It made me think, am I the asshole for saying that he is responsible for ruining our relationship by hooking up with me?

Hi All, Not sure if there’s any VW techs on this forum but wondering if a cracked oil pan would be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
I have a 2022 Tiguan with 31K miles so it’s still within its warranty period. I’ve read differing things on the web so wasn’t sure if anyone has any experience doing warranty service on a cracked oil pan.
