I feel like I've seen the inverse of this question a bit, can any group TTRPG be played solo, and I think due to emulators and the like, the answer to this is "pretty much yes". But I wondered if the inverse was true. Do you think it's possible to play any solo-specific game with a group of players? Are there any solo games you can think of where this definitely wouldn't work? I figure some tweaking to any given system would be neccassary, but that feels true of the inverse question too.

How to handle my (24F) partner’s (25M) controlling behavior?
I’m literally at my parent’s house typing this right now because I feel crazy. My partner and I have been together for about 7-8 months. We both have kids and previous relationship baggage. Everything has been relatively smooth sailing until recently, when he went through my phone and read all of my texts from YEARS back. I’m talking about 3-5 years ago. This happened when I was asleep.
In reading these texts, he educated himself on my entire dating history vicariously through the texts with my best friend. I never deleted our text thread because we don’t live near each other so we send each other a ton of photos and I like having them all there. I also had nothing to hide, and I never thought someone would read the texts so… thoroughly. Ever since the debacle, he questions EVERY thing I do.

  1. Just today, he noticed I was wearing lip gloss while I was working from home and kept asking me who I was going to meet with. Got upset and had me wipe it off.
  2. Just today, I had to hang up the phone to get my daughter from karate. The head master at the dojo had to talk to me for about 5 minutes before I was able to call him back. He now says he doesn’t like me going there with her since I supposedly hung up the phone to talk to someone else.
  3. Will smell my neck, hair, etc. to make sure I’m not wearing perfume for anyone.
  4. Still goes through my phone regularly whether I am aware of it or not and even messes with my iCloud settings in an attempt to recover deleted messages he may not have seen before.
  5. Got mad at me for going to a Christmas event with my mother.
  6. Doesn’t want me talking to my friends or talking about our relationship with any other people.
  7. Got upset that I had my regular therapy appointment because he knew I would “talk shit” about him for an hour straight. Proceeded to bash me for being in therapy because my problems aren’t “that big” and “everyone goes through stuff like that.”
  8. Doesn’t let me go to the gym alone and when I do go with him, I can’t wear certain things.
  9. I work a hybrid schedule but he gets mad when I go into the office and “get dolled up” because he thinks I would be seeing someone there. He has tried to bar me from going into the office.
  10. Questions anything I wear. Even my “mom jeans.” I literally only wear sweat pants or baggy sweaters now.
  11. Questions anything I do or anywhere I go.
It’s worth noting he’s ALWAYS had the passcode to my phone and my location, and vice versa with him. I have never cheated nor have I even considered it. I have no idea why he’s acting like this, but can someone please smack me in the face and tell me none of this is normal?
Whenever I try to explain what I was doing, he just tells me “it’s just weird that you did that when you’ve never done it before” and it’s making me feel crazy. I shouldn’t have to defend every benign interaction I make. I’m trying to justify his behavior because I do love him… but it’s getting harder and harder with every time he questions something I do.

I hate everything about Ruth.
1) I hate her sass
2) I hate her accent
3) I hate how entitled she is
4) I hate the way she looks, acts all tough despite looking and having the build of a 13 year old girl. Her hair looks terrible, her skin is too sickly and pale white, looks like a vampire or a corpse.
5) I hate how she is forced down our throats on almost every single major plot point.

This is assuming that each planet will have a tailored starting tech tree, lower tech level items, and scaled enemies/hazards similar to starting on Nauvis. Also, naturally, Nauvis would be beefed up if it turns into a secondary or later planet. The first four planets would be the ones to choose from to start. Most of the tech tree would be the same for all planets. Just that each of the planet specific tech will have earlier versions.
If they officially created this option, which planet would be the most fun to start a new game?

2024.11.25 23:29 howdypartner1301 So the biggest winner of the screen adaptation is Glinda, right?

Spoilers for second act of the musical if you haven’t seen it.
I’ve seen the stage show 4 times and always considered the story to be a co-lead between Elphaba and Glinda, with Elphaba getting slightly more focus. There is huge debate right now about whether Glinda is a co-lead or just a very prominent supporting role in Elphaba’s story. If anything, I feel like the film helps Glinda’s story be fleshed out the most.
Glinda does get some character development in Act I of the musical, but it is somewhat minimal. It mainly involves just her becoming friends with Elphaba without really examining herself. I feel that her development in the film comes across way stronger. That may be because of more screen time/dialogue, directorial choices or perhaps just creative choices by Ariana Grande. Or a combo of all 3.
One example is just the level of detail that can be pulled out of her character in a scene. In my opinion, there are 3 main interpretations of Glinda during “No One Mourns the Wicked”.

  1. The first is just the literal interpretation, which is the one that the Ozians believe: Glinda is celebrating with the Ozians that Elphaba is dead because she was evil. This interpretation could reasonably be held by audience members who know the story of The Wizard of Oz and are watching Wicked for the first time without any additional information.
  2. The second is the interpretation that seems clear after Act I: Glinda knows that Elphaba isn’t Wicked, but she has to play along, and her singing is actually full of pain for Elphaba while appeasing the Ozians. If someone had no other information except Act I / the first film, this might seem like the interpretation you go with.
  3. The third is the interpretation that you might have after seeing the complete product: Glinda is actually singing about herself. Not only is she in pain because she knows Elphaba isn’t Wicked, she is reckoning with the consequences of her own actions. “Goodness knows the Wicked’s lives are lonely, goodness knows the Wicked die alone”. Glinda lost her best friend and her lover because she chose the performative “goodness” of supporting the Wizard who is “good”, while actually ending up feeling more alone than she ever has.
I have seen multiple Glindas who were incredible on stage, but never one who was able to fully embody all 3 of these interpretations as well as Grande. Part of that is that extremely subtle mannerisms and expressions are obviously easier to convey on camera than on a stage.
Ok I feel like this turned into a rant. The TL;DR is that film Glinda feels like the most fleshed out and developed Glinda I’ve ever seen, Ariana Grande absolutely nails her in comedic and dramatic moments, and I can’t wait for part 2
