Life as a T1D can be hard and I feel that, in my specific case, the support from the healthcare system has completely failed. Everything I learned about practical blood glucose management came from other T1Ds online, medical research articles, or my own experiments.
Medical doctors are often referred to as the “gold standard” for advice regarding T1D, because of their degree. Having a masters degree myself, I realize how little that actually means in the sense of knowledge. In fact, in the case of medical doctors in the field of T1D, we could argue that them teaching us how to manage BG is the same as someone teaching us how to drive, while he has never driven a car and only read books on how to do that. I am surprised hospitals don’t connect fellow T1Ds to help each other out.

2024.11.26 00:30 Imaginary_Paint_4072 Help me find how I want to journal
I’m desperate for advice on journaling as I’m relatively new. So… at the moment my primary journal is Day One but sometimes I opt for a paper journal when I want to have a more analogue experience.
Now, I would love to go completely analogue but every time I think about it I find excuses be it pictures or me hating my handwriting or the price of getting a notebook when I fill my current one up. How do I cut through all that?
I also find that when I sit down to journal however I want to that day, my mind goes blank. I am constantly thinking about everything and am often worrying/overthinking yet I find when it times to getting it all out, I can’t be bothered.
I’m curious to see what others have to say who know way more than me!

I've been a Murakami fan for many years and have enjoyed a lot of his writing a great deal! Something is bugging me about this latest book.
It feels like I'm listening to a greatest hits album from an accomplished musical group. Everything feels familiar about all of the story points and the plot. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through and I feel like it's already my least favorite of his books.
Any advice on how to enjoy the novel more, is anyone else feeling this way reading it?

I've gotten several emails in the past month from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) (so I think it is really from Taco Bell) offering 100 extra points:
"Enjoy 100 extra points when you order a select standard combo or box within the next 7 days."
I got my last one 3 days ago. But I don't see anything in my TB app as a reward or challenge. Same as previous times.
However... a while ago (>1 year) I did act on it & didn't get any extra points. And I felt like I had no recourse because TB support through the app takes actual months the last time I had to contact them. So I didn't not pursue it.
So... does anyone here know if lately (past 6 months or so) that they got the email offer, had no app or reward challenge, made the purchase, & did or did not get the extra points?
Before I'm told "just order & see", I will if I get no responses. But if anyone knows for certain one way or the other, that helps me.

My girls have had a URI for multiple months now. They've been on enrofloaxin, Tammiflu for some reason, and doxycline. I have no clue why my vet prescribed Tammiflu because it did nothing. Anyway, they have another vet appointment on Saturday. However, my vet will sometimes take requests for a medication without doing an exam if they've seen the rats recently for the same URI. The whole exam thing stresses my girls out and is also like $200 more expensive. I know that at this point a combination of meds will probably work best. Does anyone have recommendations for what medications I should ask my vet about to finally kick this infection?
