Hello hoping to make a trip to either Kurobe Gorge or Nikko on the 28th and 29th of November. Has anyone been to the Kurobe Gorge or Nikko in the past week or so? Hoping to seek your advice!
For kurobe gorge - how was it for you? Were the leaves past peak? How was the trolley after the earthquake this year?

2024.11.26 02:25 golfer9955 Foundation poured in freezing conditions, can I do anything?
So building a new house and our foundation was poured 3-4 days before a snow storm. They poured the foundation walls and left the forms on for about 2 weeks as they couldn't get to them. They stated concrete will create its own heat and stay warm in the forms and the snow will insulate it. It froze about every night for a week straight, the only thing that protected the concrete was the forms. This was last March. There was no frost in the ground.
Here we are in November and they poured our 40 yard driveway last week in 50mph winds, they tried to cover with insulated blankets but most of them blew off. It didn't freeze the first night but has froze every night since. There are about 10-15 small hairline cracks in the driveway. There is rebar throughout. I know concrete cracks but it hasn't even been a week and it just pisses me off that such little effort was made to do it right.
We live in a very rural area and hard to get anyone to do any work, the contractor we have has to come about 2 hours. This is why I believe ours was poured in cold weather, they didn't want to pour anything local to them when it was cold out.
The more and more I think about it the more and more pissed it get. Is there anything I should do, or anything I can do? Am I screwed down the road? Should I seek litigation??? I took a fair amount of pictures and screen shots of the weather. I'm sure if there are going to be problems it's not going to happen right away and won't happen for a few years, that's my biggest worry.

It's hard mentally to stick to VT and chill when you look at charts of VOO vs VT. Trying to collect as much info as I can so I truly understand. Like what is the cause of VOO being stronger historically than VT? How can I cling to my belief in diversification and avoiding home country bias if I see these charts showing VOO kicking VT's butt for so long? Are there any technical reasons/self perpetuating reasons (not just home country bias) that could cause the SP500 to do so well over VT historically?
Difficult mentally to cling to VT, just trying to hear the strongest arguments on both sides to get the full picture

Marionetta is my favorite webtoon. I’ve been reading Miriam’s work since the middle of Hooky’s 2nd season, it’s been so long haha. I love how nuanced each character is: Julia wants to support the group’s freedom cause but has her nationalist roots tying her back, Sahed’s views on Tonny and how he wants to leave no matter what but will still not put Julia in harm, Rainah who wants to help Sahed but can’t bring herself to commit fully, Amalia, the most controversial one who’s committing so many atrocities but still seeks basic approval from her family. But all of that is overshadowed by a young audience and their obsessiveness over shipping 😭
No matter how amazing the plot and character is in every episode, comments are always “WHEN WILL THEY KISS” “I LOVE SAHEDJUL” “TONNYJUL” blahblahblah.. I have a bunch of top comments, and even if they’re just talking about story points there’s always accounts attacking me for “not shipping sahedjul.” It’s so dissapointing to see so much effort put into world building for it all to not be properly recognized.
Miriam once mentioned somewhere on her instagram that Marionetta was originally going to have Amalia as the main character, but it was changed since no one would understand someone like that. Honestly thank goodness she changed it because Webtoon’s audience is years from understanding anything related to a plot like that….

For those of you in the program, which do you prefer? Is there any advantages/disadvantages of having one over the other? I ask because I'm eyeing the new Kindle Scribe and want to make sure there's nothing that could burn me in using one as my primary note taking and textbook reader such as an open note test or something like that where anything perceived to be Internet-enabled would be off limits.
