I’m dealing with fine lines on face and neck. Occasional breakouts but my acne is much better controlled with Spironolactone now. I also have more textured skin and some hyperpigmentation and red spots on my face.
Looking for advice on what to do to improve this. I’m seeing Black Friday deals for laseMD at a medspa near me and curious if it’s helpful enough to purchase. Should I stray away from lasers for any reason? Or is there a better laser to try? I’ve also been looking at purchasing an at home laser during sales like Nira or Tria.
I use a variety of skincare including dr Dennis gross peel pads occasionally, tretinoin(not super often as I’ve never seen major results), Caudalie venoperfect serum, tatcha moisturizer. I also have done about 3 at home microneedling treatments. I also have omnilux red light mask.

My dad has schizophrenia which makes him believe he doesn’t have any illness so he doesn’t take meds. Even after we tell him to he’ll act like having the tablets and throw it away in the toilet. What about doctors you say, they are most arrogant, rude doctors i’ve ever seen. Cannot help with the situation, will not listen to us or provide any counselling. He had been taken to a psychiatrist and stayed for 3 months. He says he got all better and still never takes medication. So we had to resort to covert medication. This went on since i was like 8 or 9. When i was 12 we went to visit the psychiatrist again but before my dad, we entered to tell him about the covert medication because of which he is stable now. But he didn’t listen to any of that and ask us to bring him instead. And upon looking at him and talking to him like how are you and all, he told he looks to be improving so he lowered the doses. It’s been like that for years. Now my mom is the one who gives him medication because she serves the plate to my dad. Now when i was 13 my mom had serious headaches, so i had to take care of my dad and serve the food every night. My mom later did MRI (note that my dad never takes us to a doctor unless we get bedridden or physically very sick because he has a history with doctors (psychiatrist). heard from my mom they were always violent. since long time, which is obviously not good so he doesn’t like to take us as well) so after MRI my mom was diagnosed with a small AN or vestibular schwannoma. The neurologist said it’s small and gave her medications for the symptoms. 5 years went on like that, she’ll have severe headaches occasionally and vomit more than 5 to 6 times. I was 17 when she was hospitalised. Now the tumor has grown about 25mm and mild hydrocephalus. The doctor suggested vp shunt. Now we are from a middle class family and nobody had any idea what any of this was. I was in 11th grade and it was covid time, so we said we’d take time. Ofc, my 11th went taking care of my dad, doing hospital runs, taking care of my sister and also studying. Later, my mom got better and they got in contact with an ayurveda doctor who charged around rupees 20,000 for medications alone. She might’ve gotten better( gastric symptoms, thyroid, hearing, sinus, headaches) but things got worse suddenly. We visited the doctor again and did MRI again. The tumor had grown twice its size with hydrocephalus, my mom couldn’t walk, her hearing was impaired. Now the only option left for her was brain surgery. My parents contacted the so called ayurveda doctor again, who claimed it’ll get better with his medication. I had already passed class 12 by then. Took 1 year gap for neet. This happened during august. I got furious and asked them to do the surgery. Even shaved all my hair, and resorted to self harm as a means of coping. Ofc, financially we weren’t that good. My dad had to sell our property. (even so, not one of our relatives lent us money nor visited us. even tho my dad asked them on phone. I remember my dad helping them even tho we weren’t doing good ourselves financially. I couldn't do any part time jobs. I tried selling my canvas paintings but ofc, it wasn't good so nobody would buy it. Also, my relatives think our dad is all better and doesn’t know about his medications. Thinks he works in a reputed 9-5 job and earns well. One time my mom told my dad’s mom about it. She told my dad. He stopped eating. I begged him to take his medication. Later, his schizophrenia got worse and my dad started strangling my mom. I hid under the sofa, I remember it vividly. I was 10. Just how much a mental illness can change a person?)
Finally, they agreed after my mom got bedridden. I was her caretaker and my dad’s too. My grandmom took care of my sister. Ofc I couldn’t clear neet. It’s my fault tho, i was very weak mentally and didn’t study.
Post surgery, she came back home. I was very supportive of her and still am. I tell her all sorts of jokes to make her smile. And now we are more open. I’m happy my sister can share everything with us and not like my past self. Months went by and I couldn’t study. I gave cuet and got a south Delhi campus college. But Delhi was too far for us and coming from northeast, my parents hesitated about such a big state, and the fees and expenses were a load on my parents as well. So, i took 2nd drop for 2025.
Now, my mom’s symptoms are coming back again. Upon MRI, there was a small tumor left. The doctor said, he’ll observe it after 6 months. Post surgery has not even been fully one year. How is she supposed to have surgery again? I’m scared the cycle will continue. Even if i get a college what will happen if my mom gets sick? Who’ll take care of dad? Who’ll take care of mom? Now my sister is just 14 and she doesn’t know any of the responsibilities like I do. Will the cycle repeat? I’m so scared. What if I can’t clear neet? Also, colleges are expensive. Sigh, guess we’ll see.

Hi. Would like to get some career advice. There are so few threads talking about insurance investment job on reddit and wso.
I work in the investment division of a Fortune 500 insurance company's regional office (note: not an investment asset management firm). My position focuses on portfolio planning and controlling for the whole region. Before taking this role, I worked as a macro research analyst at ibank. I knew this role was nowhere as technical as my previous job. But I anticipated to have some market exposure to the fixed income market. Although regional operations might be more distant from direct market activity, at least, I hoped for opportunities to transition to more revenue-generating positions that really engage in investment research. For example, there is a local office investment heads directly managing each country's portfolio.
Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing since working there:
- Most local investment teams delegate most complex investment decisions to 3rd party asset managers, which means even the local teams spend minimal time directly engaging with the market. They do not engage in research extensively, but instead communicate between 3rd party AM, internal risk actuary and risk management functions. In short, they are not technical too.
- The corporate culture is highly bureaucratic. Given our lack of direct involvement in risky decision-making, about 70% of my time is consumed by internal reporting, which is retrospective. Despite having access to a Bloomberg terminal, I use it only 10% of the time, while the remaining 90% goes into producing internal reports and slides that lack sophisticated or quantitative analysis.
Have others successfully transitioned out of such roles? I find it hard to imagine escaping this niche sector with few transferrable skills, apart from pursuing an MBA.

Hi I cleaned my pc yesterday using a toothbrush ( I wasn't aggressive on the components) the day before the pc was working. For context I decided to clean my pc because errors were popping up when i shut down my pc during the shut down screen and/or it freezes when i close every program before i shut down.
Here is what I've tried so far -CMOS Reset via pins and via battery -reseating components -starting up with the bare minimum (Cpu,Gpu,Ram) -starting with one stick of ram on different slots each time
Until now my pc turns on (Fans are spinning and mouse light is on but keyboard light isnt) but shows NO SIGNAL on the monitor
