Hi all, my Mom went to the gynecologist to consult on some things. The doctor saw her for around 20 minutes. Didn't do any tests on her and now is billing her $600.
The gynecologist never once mentioned the price of the consultation. She has health insurance, but is is a high deductible plan, therefore this charge is out of pocket.
What can my Mom do to fight this unjust charge. What steps would you take?

If you have read my previous posts you would know that we have had a rough go at IVF so far. Our first ER yielded one mosaic embryo. We decided to move forward with transferring this embryo. Went in for my suppression check this morning and they are very concerned that my left fallopian tube seems to be filled with fluid as well as a mass.
They still started me on estrogen pills but have warned me that this could result in surgery/removed fallopian tube. I’m a mess and haven’t stopped crying for hours. They scheduled me to come in next Wednesday for an ultrasound to see if it fixes itself or if I will need surgery.

Suggestions for a “winter”-appropriate fragrance by Guerlain (I like their ethos) that is not Shalimar.
Mon Guerlain is lovely, as are all the Aqua Allegoria line that I’ve experienced (except the rose, which is just gross. I will die on that hill). But everything I actually have, or have tried, is very light and airy and summery. I want something masc-leaning (or marketed toward men) that smells like competence and intelligence and success and no-nonsense. like your dad’s successful accountant BFF who is always polished. like maybe a mahogany-wood-antique area-rug-fireplace-antique-dog-asleep-on-it-home-office-kinda-vibe. warm and woody.

Why does my PC do this on startup? Every time that I shutdown my computer and I turn it back on, all the peripherals turn on for a few seconds then turn off. My screen is just black and the Home Screen never loads. I have to force shutdown about three times before I get the automatic repair blue screen. How can I fix this issue? Normally, I just put it to sleep instead of shutting it down for this exact reason.

The only i can't bring myself to like about the ending was how jinx (supposedly) survived and decided to run away leaving everyone (especially Vi and Ekko) thinking that she's dead. I know she did that to "break the cycle" and let everyone be happy without her, but it just breaks my heart in a milion pieces to know that Vi is likely never going to get her little sister back, i just wanted to see them happy together again and knowing that she thinks everyone is better off without her really breaks me a lot. My poor girl never got the happy ending she deserved :((

2024.11.26 02:48 therealbitmaster Lowering OPV on V1 Silvia with Non-Adjustable OPV Valve Using Extra Custom Washers

I saw this basic technique on another post, but haven't been able to find it to credit the author. If anyone finds it, I'd be happy to remedy that.
I recently acquired a V1 Silvia in excellent shape. The non-adjustable OPV was set to around 10.5 bar, and I want to do single dosing with a non-pressurized basket, so I needed to lower it. I had already replaced the spring and gasket in the valve with new ones from Stefanos.
I found a post where someone had simply added extra copper washers to reduce the tension on the spring and lower the pressure. The ones I got were M17 * 21mm * 1.0 mm. However, adding a single extra 1 mm thick washer dropped the pressure down to 6-7 bars! It's shocking that such a small change could make such a big difference, and I've had several arguments with my partner about how that seems to violate Hooke's Law of Spring Tension!
The original washer was 0.9-1mm. I ended up having to hammer the washers flatter, and the final thickness that got me from 10.5 to 9 bars was 1.1mm, only 0.1-0.2 mm difference! I'm kind of shocked my skill-free tippy-tapping got the job done, but it worked, and was super cheap. I had to beat down two washers that together were the 1.1 mm thick when I was done. Also keep in mind that the reason copper washers are used here is because they crush a little when you crank down the brass, so it's better to bias on the side of too thick, since you can't unflatten the washers if you make them too thin. It did require a *lot* of trial and error.

I have a variety of machines since I fix and resell them, but my current setup is a V1 Silvia, a Gaggia Classic, and a Baratza Sette 270 grinder. I've also got an old 1992 Gaggia Coffee, the precursor to the Classic without the 3-way valve.
