I grew up kinda having to be quick-witted because of my brother and I just felt like I always had to be ready to match his jokes. I love being able to laugh at the most random things and one of the reasons I fell in love with my guy was because he’s just soooo funny. It’s that quick-witted humor I was used to times 10. So clever, sometimes so dumb (in a good way), so hilarious—I just love how easily he makes me laugh. And when he makes other people laugh too, I’m like 🫠🫠🫠.

I have been friends with my closest friend for the past ten years. Our friendship has mostly been built on texting, with occasional hangouts. I have never felt a romantic connection or attraction toward him. He often compliments me and expresses that he would do anything for me, but I have never thought much of it.
One drunk night we shared a kiss. For me it was meaningless for me as he says he felt a spark. He began sending mass amounts of packages to my apartment and started posting on his social media about how toxic I was, claiming that I was using him and that he was going to cut me off. I asked him what I had done to deserve this. He then replied, "I’m so sorry, I’m drunk right now. You wouldn’t text me back, and it’s been 6 hours."
In response, I told him that I was walking away from this friendship because I felt uncomfortable, smothered, resentful, and agitated. Despite my decision, he continues to send me 50 text messages a day that I haven’t responded to, saying he misses me so much that he can’t live without me, and that I’m the reason he’s still alive and his source of happiness.

I’ve been on a great role with books recently, after picking it back up again since having a baby! I’ve read and loved the below:
ACOTAR Quicksilver Crimson Moth/Heartless Hunter Once upon a Broken Heart Fourth Wing Daughter of No Worlds (loved this so much!! This is the series that got me back into reading) Phantasma Anathema A Dawn of Onyx Trick A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows
But I’m struggling with my recent books…
Winter Gods and Serpents - I like this but have DNF’d in the third book. It just feels far too long and isn’t keeping me hooked anymore
The Veiled Kingdom - everyone seems to love this book but I just didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t like the characters, it was too fast paced so I felt like the world building wasn’t there
Fear the Flames - currently reading this and really struggling with it, I’m having to force myself to pick it up at this point. Just don’t care for the characters, I’m not invested in the MMC and FMC together it just seems to be instalust and the world building is non-existent.
I can feel myself heading towards a slump, and I’d really like to pick something up that can hook me again. Whether that be great plot, mystery, twists etc or great characters I can become really invested it. I love a great slow burn and nice romance but I really struggle if there’s no plot to accompany it, or if it’s not strong enough to carry the book. I’ve got a flight this evening so would love something new to try, does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!
