So I know this is a bit atypical for a post on this sub but i think i’m really going to need help with this for next year! (i also have fish tanks of my own so im not completely ignorant)
long story short: i have a natural pond/lake on my property i’ve owned for the last 15-20 years or so. it’s been consistently growing over the years… somehow… i’d say now it’s maybe about 20,000-30,000 sq ft (0.5-0.75 acres, 1/2 a foot ball field, 2000-3000 sq m) and 7-8ft at the deepest.
actual long story feel free to skip: when it was smaller the water was pretty nice and i’d see birds, deer, rabbits, & other animals around it. as it grew there started to be massive micro-algae blooms, and mosquitoes. it led to a lot less wildlife in the area, especially the birds (west nile virus and all that). the pond is probably about 5-10x bigger than when I bought the place. i assume it’s because of the lack of trees around it and a bunch of people (and a handful of farms) moving into to the area and are using fertilisers and overwatering lawns/crops. I took it upon myself to add some native snails, duckweed, koi, and minnows to the water to hopefully help take care of the issue in a more natural way… you know, without poisoning the water. it didn’t happen all at once but over a few years things started to get better!
the problem: it’s been steadily improving over the last 10ish years with new aquatic life somehow finding its way in… until this year. The pond is getting taken over by starry stonewort (Nitellopsis obtusa), an incredibly invasive green macro-algae. i know what harm its done to a much larger lake where my family lives, and really don’t want to see the same thing happen to this pond. there’s a lot of nitrates/phosphates in the water because of the low elevation/fertilisation in the area.
is there anything i can do to prevent this algae from choking out the birds or fish, and the greater ecosystem that’s been established here? something that eats green macro-algae? something to outcompete it without harming the wildlife? i really don’t want it to return to what it was like 10 years ago. please help

I feel so under developed. Estrogen robbed me of so fucking much. Height, strength, male bone structure. Why does this hormone gotta be so shit on your body. I’d be fine with being born with XX chromosomes but not going thru estrogen puberty. Anything but estrogen puberty. I don’t want to be a woman. I don’t want a female body. This dysphoria hurts so much that now I’m thinking misogynistic thoughts like “women suck” “women are trash” “women are pathetic”. I’m fully aware this is coming from my dysphoria and I don’t hate cis women. I’m so tired of being associated with Group I don’t want to be in.
I hate being in a body that was poisoned by estrogen.
I feel so pathetic. I feel robbed. I can only change so much while being on T and sometimes it feels like it’s not enough.
