2024.11.26 07:29 odonnellnoel PC randomly rebooting, sometimes doesn't POST
Hello, hoping to get some help on this, I just want to figure out which component is faulty.
Motherboard: ROG STRIX b760-F Gaming Wifi
Processor: Intel i9 13900K
No graphics card
My PC worked perfectly for over a year until yesterday, when the screen suddenly went black and seemed to go into a boot-loop. The red and yellow Q-LEDs were flashing alternately. At first I suspected the processor was fried, as I knew these processors had overheating issues, but I did upgrade the BIOS. Nevertheless I'd had the original BIOS up to just a few months ago.
Troubleshooting: I took out 3 of the 4 DDR5 DIMMs, took out the CMOS battery, removed the processor, and put it back in again, put some more thermal paste on it, and put the watercooler back on top, again it failed to POST, with the red and yellow Q-LEDs again flashing alternately.
At this point I begrudgingly swapped the PSU with an older PC (both 1000W PSUs), disconnected the power and left it rest for 1/2 an hour so the BIOS would reset. I switched it back on and this time it POSTed. So I managed to boot up the computer and used it for about 1 hour. It seemed to work perfectly. I assumed the PSU was faulty, so I installed the other 3 DIMMs and tried booting and again it wouldn't POST. I again cleared the BIOS settings by removing battery, and tried this several more times, using 1 DIMM at a time, trying different memory slots. Sometimes it would POST, sometimes not, but when it did it would work perfectly, then randomly crash after between 1 minute and 1 hour.
I'm pretty sure the problem is not the memory since I tried all 4 individually, and not the PSU since I tried 2 different ones with the same results, and the watercooler is working plus the 9 or so fans in the case. Which leaves with the CPU or motherboard as the 2 remaining suspects. I just want to figure which of these I need to replace. The CPU is (I believe) under warranty since it's under 3 years old.

I'll start: I was 15 when I first moved to a mountainous area. I went to some friends house on a very cold night. her driveway was on a slope and after I said hello, I spent the next 15 minutes searching in the dark outside to find a good rock or branch to put under by tires in case the road iced. Everyone was rolling their eyes at me and saying it's not even that cold outside.
Come the morning after the sleepover, my friend's dad's car was at the bottom of the driveway after it slid into a tree. My car was totally fine.

I’m trying to shadow a crna and I’m required to pay $75 to shadow and $38 for a background check. Is that normal? I shadowed one back in May and it was free so I asked why do I have to pay now and they said it’s because “their processes have changed.” I tried reaching out to another hospital and they also require payment. I went ahead and paid but I was just curious as to if anyone else experienced this.
Also if anyone knows of any sites I can get a background check for cheaper lmk.

As far as I can tell hard determinism presupposes some kind of metaphysical entity called "free will" that's excluded from all natural causation, and since nothing can be excluded from natural causation, the conclusion is that notions of free will and by extension moral responsibility are to be discarded.
I don't understand what that argument has to do with our social practices. The question of moral responsibility in real life concerns the ability of an individual to rationally deliberate and to understand how their actions measure up to the social norm. This ability is taken to be part of the natural causal chain, because we know specific natural states that exclude that ability - early childhood, mental illness, the influence of psychoactive drugs. "Free will" in this sense would be equivalent to "healthy human adult will", the capacity to act rationally (humanely) and not merely do things the way an animal or a machine or a force of nature would.
When, for example, the nephew kills his aunt to take her inheritance, we judge that as criminal if the nephew was conscious of their drives and wishes, had the ability to weigh in on them and their weighing in wrong caused them to act criminally. If that is the case, we try to help the nephew develop those healthy human adult capacities by isolating them and taking corrective action against them, so that in the future they can be reintegrated into society or at worst (if what they've done makes it impossible for us to ever trust them anymore) - so that they restore their humanity albeit in an isolated environment. It is not expected of either the nephew to use a metaphysical ability or of us who judge him - to identify the presence of an entity that disobeys nature.
How do these social practices amount to the conception of free will against which hard determinism argues? I don't see how at any point in the description above I have smuggled in a supernatural capacity to do something other than what the laws of nature dictate.

I made the mistake of vassalizing Satsuma as Saga in my campaign. I was fighting wars on several fronts and decided it was worth getting two honor from vassalizing them and their vassal after smashing their armies.
Here is the issue: these folks aren't loyal. They have already risen against me once, and I had to crush them, but due to half the shogunate declaring war on me, I had to re-vassalize them and make peace. Now they are building an army in one of my regions and I can see that their attitude is quickly deteriorating, with "threat of war" increasing in the diplomacy tab. While they mass forces for a siege, I have an army hiding in the forest next to their only province, waiting for them to turn on me so I can eliminate them.
Realm divide has occurred, and I need to free my ambushing army so that I can start taking out my enemies faster, but these bastards won't declare war on me. Is there anything I can do force their hand?
