TL;DR: I’ve been living in Japan for 7 years and with my Japanese boyfriend for 5. After burning out at a toxic job, I told him I want to move back to Australia to recover my mental health. He wants me to stay in Japan for another year while he saves up for a partner visa and learns English. He’s against long-distance and guilt-tripping me to stay, saying I’m not committed if I leave. I feel conflicted and overwhelmed because I want to prioritize my mental health but feel guilty for not supporting him the way he wants. Any advice?
I’ve been living in Japan for 7 years, and my Japanese boyfriend and I have been together for 5 of those years. To save money, he’s been living with his parents in Osaka while I lived in Kyoto.
A few months ago, I burned out completely while working for a black company (toxic workplace). I lost my job and, during a heated moment, I blurted out that I wanted to move back to my home country, Australia. I’d been thinking about this for a while but didn’t know how to bring it up. Losing my job became the catalyst for me to say it.
Now, my boyfriend is proposing that we stay in Japan for another year so he can qualify for a partner visa in Australia. His alternative plan would be for me to leave while he works in Japan alone for 6+ months and saves enough money, but he really doesn’t want to be apart and keeps saying he “can’t live without me.”
I’ve tried to explain that working in Japan destroyed me, and I need time to recover my mental health. When I told him I needed to think about his suggestion, he said that taking time to decide was insulting to him because it makes him feel I’m “looking for the easy way out” and not committed to the relationship. He guilt-tripped me further, saying that I just need to “wholeheartedly support him” and avoid being “negative,” even when I pointed out how difficult it would be for him to start learning English from scratch.
I feel incredibly guilty for wanting to prioritize my recovery, especially because he has been so good to me over the years. He took care of me in the past, so it feels selfish to say I can’t stay in Japan for a year to help him. But at the same time, I feel exhausted and overwhelmed.
He refuses to do long-distance, even for a short time, and insists that I return to Japan with him while he works and saves. He said I would need to work part-time to sustain my visa while he works hard to save for the partner visa, which he thinks is “fair.” However, the idea of having to work in Japan again—even part-time—feels impossible to me right now.
It’s strange because when we first met, I was the one who was extremely codependent—almost to an unhealthy degree—while he was more emotionally detached (or what I thought was “cold” at the time). But over the years, the dynamic seems to have reversed. I’ve grown out of my codependency, but now he’s become the one who feels like he can’t let go, even in small ways. He told me he wouldn’t even want me to leave him for a two-week family holiday, which feels unhealthy to me.
My dad plans to come to Japan next week to help me pack and talk things through with my boyfriend. My dad wants to support me in leaving, but my boyfriend is adamant that I should return to Japan with him. He doesn’t make much money, so it could take him 6 months or more to save what he needs, and he thinks I should work too since “he’s working his hardest.”
In the short term, we’re planning to visit Australia together for two weeks over Christmas and my birthday. He needs to return after two weeks because of his job, but he’s strongly against me staying longer to spend time with my family. His argument is, “We’re planning to move there permanently next year anyway, so why do your parents have an issue if you go back to Japan a little earlier to support me?”
I feel so conflicted. I’m being pulled in different directions, and I don’t know how to navigate this. I want to prioritize my mental health, but I also feel like I’m failing him as a partner. Any advice on how to handle this situation?

I get that it's not a full-service airline. But I've booked a 10-hour international flight that's basically the same cost as a full-service flight anyway (only booked Jetstar because others don't fly to this destination). Anyway, I have a common dietary requirement, gluten free. Purchased the option that includes a meal voucher. Zero options on the menu for this requirement basically because they're all sandwiches.
Called Jetstar more than a week before the flight asking what to do. The customer service rep was very friendly and also spoke with his manager -- but ultimately the only advice they could give me was that some of the onboard snacks are GF, and I could bring my own meal onboard. For a 10-hour flight!
What on Earth? Is this common practice with Jetstar nowadays? I'm sure I remember having a proper meal on one of their longer flights a few years back (have been GF for over a decade).

Both the new items really benefit her she already benefits from leveling up so picking raven's feather is a no brainer and basically the same for Corporation Pin since you already want more pickup range for her batteries, she's also always been a strong character so with these 2 items being so good on her shes just the best/one of the best characters in the game rn imo
