I have been living overseas for 12 years now and will be returning home in a couple of months.
For the last few months I've been doing my due diligence on what car I will buy when I get back. I have owned a couple of Ford Falcons in the past, where one was LPG and the other was Dual Fuel, when I left Australia LPG was way more affordable (probably subsidised) than ULP, even with the slight reduced power and higher mileage it was definately worth having an LPG fuelled car.
In my search I have noticed that LPG powered vehicles are mostly older vehicles, less in numbers, but really quiet cheap for what they are, especially for utes.
What is the LPG landscape like in Australia now? How does LPG pricing compare to ULP? What's the availabilty like, do all the servos still sell LPG?
I don't plan to do a massive amount of kilometres, but frequent runs to the tip, hardware stores and carting crap around, so an LPG ute would fit the bill as a work horse second car, but should I avoid LPG?

Asc everyone. I wanted to share some thoughts on language patterns I’ve noticed in my Somali community. This doesn’t apply to everyone btw. I grew up in Gothenburg, Sweden in a neighborhood with few immigrants so I speak fluent Swedish. Even after living in Kenya for six years, my Swedish stayed the same. When I moved to Stockholm to live with my dad in a predominantly Somali neighborhood, I started noticing how some Somali and immigrant kids and teens speak Swedish.
Some areas with a lot of immigrants has a sociolect of Swedish that’s heavily influenced by words from Somali, Arabic and even Turkish. But there’s more to it, even the grammar changes. Sometimes I feel bad hearing the horrible grammar that the Somali kids and teens have but it’s not their fault. I’m currently tutoring my younger cousins so that they don’t end up like that. My eedo took her kids out of their previous school to a school further away from our neighbourhood so that they improve their Swedish skills. For example, Swedish has strict rules about word order. You’d say, “Igår gick jag till affären” (Yesterday went I to the store), but a lot of young immigrants use a direct word order like in English: “Igår jag gick till affären.” It’s technically incorrect but very common.
I see it all the time, but the first time that I actually started to see the differences firsthand was when I coached Somali kids in football as a summer job last year. They’d call me a term meaning “wannabe Swede” but in Swedish because I spoke Swedish well? It made me laugh, and I miss those kids wallahi. To the younger kids and teens it sort of shapes their identity. Another observation has been that although a lot of the youngsters struggle with both Swedish and Somali, a lot of them speak English really well. I think it has to do with YouTube shorts and all of that stuff. In my opinion, I believe that these language patterns can affect things like education.
Some of the Somali youngsters stretch out words and drop syllables when constructing sentences and having to witness it everyday without being able to do anything is sad. The 90s Somalis that I interact with speak Swedish a lot better than the younger generation. I’m guessing it’s because segregation wasn’t as bad back when they grew up which led to better integration. Nevertheless, lots of Somali teens might be the complete opposite of what I have described here which is great, but I think it’s dumb if someone were to completely invalidate anything that I have mentioned, since it affects these young people when they enter the real world but they might not realise it. How has your community been affected by certain language patterns? Thanks🙏🏾.

2024.11.26 08:20 Lightskin-Duke Terrible Experience at 11/25 Nets Game

Needed to rant and not sure where this goes but even more anger inducing than the blown leads habit our team is starting to develop was my experience at the stadium today.
Drove over 2 hours after work through the rain from out of town since my relatives were in town and HAD to see the greatest show in the NBA Steph Curry.
Parked close to the stadium around 7:15 and Lime scootered to Chase to get there by end of 1st and was met with security. Not a problem, until they cut off the group right before me and then CLOSE my line only to direct everyone in my line over to the other newly opened line. Went from being first in line to last.
Not to worry I still made it to the game for the full 2nd quarter onward and was pumped! Even ran into a college buddy randomly at a food stand as I was rushing through the stadium, just the type of local community you’d expect at a Dubs game. Snagged a tall boy and made it to my lower bowl seats (thank you Dad)
Finally at the seats, Dad is 2 IPAs in and mentions we’re next to another chirpy father son duo and I knew I was at home. Warriors erupt for a 2nd quarter surge and so do I. Rip a pee before it gets too busy, catch up with a friend, and snag a greasy slice of pizza for the 2nd half. Would have gotten a 2nd tall boy too if I didn’t have to drive 2 hours home but you know the drill.
Once I scarf down my pizza I’m back in it as is the crowd but the Warriors start slipping. One buddy hield contested 3 I believe misses egregiously off the side of the backboard. I can’t contain myself and let out a pterodactyl-esque “WHAT?!” At such a blasphemous shot attempt. Then SHE turns around.
Supposedly this elder lady had been side-eyeing me the entire time I was gettin excited for the fans and this pterodactyl finally got her to say something. She looks me dead in the eyes and asks “excuse me???” And I’m genuinely dumbfounded not knowing what I did wrong caught up in the blasphemous Wayoff P impression.
I ask her what I did and both her and her husband tell me to “tone it down” and to not “scream in her ear”. I say my piece and argue “it’s a sports game I’m just reacting to the game” only to be met with no support and more disapprovals.
I continue cheering and purposefully exclaiming “excuse me?” When the warriors made a mistake or the nets did some dumb shit (which many of those happened) til the end of the quarter and the lady turns around AGAIN and asks “do you want to have a discussion?”
I continue preaching my side which boils down to “Look lady it’s a sports game, people are passionate about their teams, sorry I am too” and am again scolded as if my cheering is detrimental to their game experience. Mind you, I never yelled anything disrespectful or directly in anyone’s ear, just outward into the crowd void. But no matter, again I was met with no support and sat politely with my hands folded the rest of the night sour grapes as hell. You know the rest, warriors blew a lead and we lost. But man, this was probably the worst basketball experience I’ve ever had in my adult life, and to think that I grew up going to roaracle only to be Karen’d for cheering made me sickly happy that they blew it and everyone else’s night got ruined too.
I like to think that as a result of me getting Karen’d and stopping my cheering, the Warriors lost momentum and blew it. I’m not too worried about the loss tbh, we’ll figure it out. We just miss Melton. But man, as a born and raised Bay Area Warriors fan who used to get the 16 game pack season passes during the We Believe days cause they were cheaper really makes me sad about the state of the arena experience and the lack of passion that so many “Warriors fans” have today.
Sorry rant over thank you to whoever read this and I’m not dissing any of you as warriors fans just butthurt off getting Karen’d for supporting #DubNation

It’s crazy. When I don’t use the chart it seems like people around me are just being difficult for no reason. Then I look at it and *BOOM!!* Suddenly I realize my own emotional state and everything around me has context, and I can chill tf out. Like, I didn’t even realize I was all tense. I used to use it every day and learned to recognize my emotions pretty well. Apparently I’m out of practice. I think I’d better go to the print shop tomorrow and make myself a new one. It’ll be nice to stop butting heads, or at least to better assess myself when I do. I didn’t realize I should have kept using it. I’m doing this DBT skills class and I was having so much trouble doing the skills. Pull out the chart and suddenly it all makes sense and I can do the homework. I guess there’s no emotion regulation without being able to tell what your emotions are in the first place.
Alexithymia. It’s a whole thing. Sheesh.

Magical girl pirate. This one came from Sailermoon.
Santa Viking as a galaxy ranger who goes out of his way to make children happy.
Explosion enthusiastic samurai. This came for me when watching someone make build in Cyberpunk 2077 named granader samurai where he gose with katana and grenades+rocket launcher.
Transformer knight as robot knight who can transform into vehicle.

Thought there was a cooldown in style pages ? Certainly seems so from the past days i’ve been farming, let me know if you think this was a fluke.
