2024.11.26 08:40 OriginGiratina MSI PRO B660M-A WIFI DDR4: Shuts down before POST, red and yellow debug lights
I made the mistake of swapping out a dying chassis fan today (rear exhaust, sysfan1, not the CPU fan), and my computer will no longer post. It will power on and reach the point of POST where the MSI logo is displayed. It will then immediately crash, regardless of what (or if) keys are pressed.
My motherboard is PRO B660M-A WIFI DDR4. My CPU is an i5-12500.
I've been using the computer for about a year now with no issues.
The EZDebug shows a red light for a CPU error, then the yellow/orange DRAM light, then shuts off. Fans power on and spin up.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I've tried so far:
- Removed the new fan
- Reseated all RAM
- Reseated CPU
- Tried each stick of RAM in each RAM slot (one stick in the first slot, try to boot, move it to the next slot, try to boot, repeat). Tried two sticks of RAM from different brands that had never been in that computer.
- Unplugged and replugged the CPU connector from the motherboard, then the PSU
- Unplugged the computer from the UPS, plugged directly into wall, tried to boot.
- Tried motherboard's HDMI port in case DisplayPort was causing issues with the iGPU
- Tried to M-Flash updated BIOS with no luck due to immediate shutdown
- Cleared CMOS via the JBAT1 jumper pins
- Removed all pcie devices
- Tried to start by jumping the pins rather than the chassis power button
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
