Male 34, Italy. I was at a reggae/dancehall concert, indoor, by myself last saturday. Chilling with a drink and smoking a cigarette (yes at this place it's allowed to smoke inside, still trying to quit but that's another story). Two girls probabily 25 years old, are dancing and having fun close to my small table. I particularly like one of them, she seems fun, outfit is very original and creative, I really like her style and overall vibes. But I am not someone who goes to girls or women to approach them, even if I am interested, I just can't, too shy and nervous and feeling like I don't want to interrupt the good times they're having. So I mind my own business, listen to the music, chill, when suddenly...the girl I like comes to me, shakes my hand. Amazing right? Well, wait till the end.
She introduces herself asking "Hey are you alone?" I said "Yeah, a friend of mine couldn't make it last minute but I still wanted to come so I came by myself" and she smiled and said "Oh, well nice to meet you, where are you from?". I said the place I am from, about 45 mins from the place we were at, and comes out...she's from the same town. I am mind blown. She start saying "That's crazy what a coincidence" I smile back and say "Yeah true". So I got up, start moving to the music (not dancing, I am not good at it), she is dancing amazingly, very sexy and perfect, getting very close in front of me and gently brushing her arm to mine multiple time smiling at me. And then....I blacked out, anxiety of "and what should I do?", nothing, she was standing there, clearly interested, she approached me, I froze, blocked, didn't make any move, couldn't come up with other questions (which of course as soon as I left came to mine) not even exchange numbers, nothing.
After 4-5 minutes she looked back at her friend and said to me "Well ok byeee". And it was over. Never saw her again. Came home depressed, sad, feeling like a failure, out of the game. Maybe too old for this shit. It is very hurtful to feel like a person was attracted to me by maybe my look, and vibes, and then she rejected me after we interact because she sensed the nervousness, insecurity and anxiety. It's very bad. I don't want to go out anymore, I am 34 I should just give up I think and find ways to be happy alone by myself. As anyone managed to be happy renouncing all hope of relationships? It was and still is, 4 days later, very painful I can't get her out of my mind. I missed such a beautiful chance to meet someone who I really liked, it was so natural and spontaneous, I messed it all up. And it's all my fault.
Any advice or helpful sharing of similar experiences and how to deal with the deep depression that comes with it?
