Hello! I've been wanting to play DnD for a couple of years now. I used to play in a campaign during school and it was very fun! Since then though, haven't had much success getting another game going for a number of reasons. Until now! The only real issue is everyone in the group has never actually played DnD before except for me and one other player, so I decided to bite the bullet and be the DM!
Problem is, I've never DM'd before. But I'm super excited to try my best! For my first campaign, I was super lucky to find a DM who had the 2014 PHB, MM, and DMG which made it super helpful both in and out of the game for rulings and level up choices.(I haven't actually looked at the DMG cause I left that for the DM at the time) Being an art kid as well I was also just drawn to the artwork of the books.
Fast forward now, and I managed to find a discounted 2014 Monster Manual, and decided to buy the new 2024 PHB, both in hard cover(worth!)
I plan on getting the new DMG soon, as well as the new MM when that drops. I even got some magic items and monster loot tables ready on Google docs, as well as a campaign idea in the works.
TL;Dr: Got the old MM and the 2024 PHB, wanting to DM for a new group and never DM'd before. Is there any advice from experienced DMs that would help manage the campaign, or things I should watch out for?

As if I didn't participate in at least one Turtle or Lord fight, be it in getting Lord or camping bush and dying on my Ult (and my jungker secured the objective) As if I didn't split push by pushing the minion wave. How interesting. Look, I know it's not everyday you see EXP lane get ganked, I understand. My tower damage is also kind of non existent since it were the minions who pushed. And for any minion to push on my lane, either I had to deal with enemy minions or our Miya had to do it...and she did, on her lane and mid lane. Like geez, I know my stats suck...but do they mean I actually refused to cooperate and didn't try to help? I don't understand when this type of report comes in, next time don't let Aurora come to my lane to help me then and instead send the Miya or Aldous to clear it while I sip tea at base. PS: I just noticed I didn't buy boots, probably because I was too distracted worried about Sun and Yin to remind myself I was following my own build which means no boots in it because...logically who forgets those? Hi all, I have had issues with chronic joint pain and mobility for the last 3 years now, and it's at a point where I can admit that I need to be using mobility aids more often/all the time. My only issue with it is I am having way too much anxiety about what others would think of me using them. I know that you're "not supposed to care about that other people think about you" but that has been alot easier said than done. For some context: I'm a 24 year old woman in graduate school away from my home country, I look able-bodied, and I have severe social anxiety. I'm just worried that using my mobility aids would exclude me more from my peers and colleagues than I already am. I only have 2 friends and 1 professor that I actually talk to at uni, and I dont want to make new friends even harder to come by. I also never have any idea what to say when people come up and ask questions (well I do know what to say it just never gets out), and I just end up freezing and looking like a doofus. I know that I really need to be using these aids for my health, but I'm almost too stubborn and anxious to actually use them and risk my already fragile social life. I know that there has to be others who have felt similarly to me, and I could really use some advice or even words of encouragement. Thank you all and I hope I can get my brain to a place where I can feel confident using my forearm crutches! 💙

I picked up the game a couple of weeks ago not knowing anything about DnD. Spent like 30 hours still in act 1 trying to figure out the game mechanics and slowly progressing through this first act. I’m finding it hard to play. In every game I play, I just want to get the best possible ending or outcome to something. I don’t want to miss out on something because I didn’t know about it and I find that I just search up the “right way” to progress through a scenario.
How tf do I just let go and accept what happens?

so i wanted to save/download youtube videos because oftentimes creators delete their videos or private it from the platform but then im unable to view it later on. so i wanted to download them, but downloading them was possible for me only back in 2015-2017, i just checked in 2024 and now you can only download 144p and maybe 480p in the best case scenarios when the original videos quality is high but the other ones are locked behind youtube premium but i cant afford it at the moment , so i was wondering if there is some way to get them, need minimum 720p so i can actually read lines of code. i have 0 technological knowledge so like any and all methods are appreciated, heck even if there is some way that you know where i could just screen record and upload them to discord to save them works, just that , that method would be troublesome because some vids are 4-8 hours XD. i cant use mobile for this unfortunately only pc access , and plus im sure pc is way more versatile so there must be some software or method out there with which i can store these vids, please help me out guys, thank you.

Does anyone else have this problem? I've recently started trying the new Outlook in advance of it being forced on everyone starting in early 2025. Since switching over, I've had a new Outlook window open every 5-7 minutes. If I leave my machine unattended, I'll come back to 20+ instances of Outlook open at once.
Curious as to what was starting them, I downloaded Process Monitor and found that the command to start Outlook was being issued by Zoom.exe. What looks to be happening is a check in Zoom to see if Outlook.exe is running and, if it is not, to issue a command to start it.
The problem is that if you toggle on "New Outlook" then Outlook.exe never opens, it sees that you tried to open "Old Outlook" (outlook.exe) and then that process, in turn, creates a new process for "olk.exe" which is the new Outlook. In a few minutes Zoom repeats this process. See screenshots below of the Process Monitor logs.

If anyone knows what's causing this (I found no setting in Zoom that would explain it) that would be great. But mostly I am just looking for confirmation. Is there anyone else running the same setup that can confirm they are having the same issue? If there are a few of us then I can point to that fact when I approach Zoom with a support case as opposed to it just being an issue for me.

As I'm sure many here have seen Keir Stamer has announced their will be a new push and policies enacted to get more people into work in the UK, especially young people where there is record unemployment.
However while this sounds good on paper, how will this even be possible without make wages actually liveable on and many other deep fundamental changes? Many entry level jobs, even skilled ones, provide barely enough to to live on, so why would young people or anyone do them? Is he going to make them slaves.
It also, implies that more companies and businesses will be hiring, and more jobs will be created when in fact the opposite is happening, some may argue directly due to some of his policies (although that is not the main discussion here).
How, is he going to achieve getting companies to hire more people and pay higher wages and with job creation. Is this even possible on large scale, or are most factors out of his control. Will this make finding a job easier and pay higher?
