2024.11.26 17:34 1down-5up- 5800x and 3090! Need some advice
Hey everyone! I could use some advice on this new to me build. Picked it up off marketplace for a decent price. Wanted to try a AMD cpu before my next full build. Plus the price point was low enough to get my funds back in a part out if needed.
-ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming WiFi 2 -AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8 core 16 thread -Noctua Premium CPU cooler nh-d15 -Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 -Redragon 850w 80+ gold -Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB 3500 -1TB M2 SSD -500GB M2 SSD (Windows 11 fresh) install 144hz 1440p monitor
Was running some stress tests. The gpu seems to run around 65c-ish under for full
Cpu hit 92c within 10 seconds of the stress test
I have installed the lastest bios. All drivers are up to date. Power settings are on high performance. Same as in the nvidia controls panel. I have removed the cpu cooler.. the thermal paste wasn't in good shape. Was also under thr chip in the socket too. Cleaned everything up. Replaced the paste and set the fans up correctly so they flow is one direction.. also reinstalled the ram into the correct dimm slots for 2 sticks only. All fans are set to ramp to 100% at 50c. Sounds like a place taking off now lol
The chip still runs hots. 40 to 50c at idle. Mid 60c under low load. Low 80s while gaming. Will still creep the 90s under a stress test
Here are my problem.. I cannot get past 70ish utilization on my gpu and any game. And my cpu is bouncing between 45 to 80% utilization. Depending on the game.
And I keep getting these utilization drops to 0% on both my cpu and gpu at the same times. They are fairly consistent in timing. Will happen 10 times a game. In a fps type game/round.
I have get thr pc from usable other than to watch a YouTube video. To decently running games. But can get the last 25% to smoothen out. Any tips, advice and thoughts would be appreciated!!!!

Holaaaa!
I just finished my PhD interview, and I don't know how to feel. I applied for a PhD in Biology but in the Paleoecology research group, to work in the Socio-Ecological Systems research line. I already have been admitted by my advisor to her research group (the Paleo one), with whom I have been working for the past months, I passed the exam and all the previous filters. But my weakness is that I came from a different background from science (ChemE). I knew that the committee were super orthodox biologists, I had prepared so much for the interview... But my feelings are mixed at this point, I was thinking that maybe I talked too much trying to justify why I'm not crazy, why It makes sense for me, my research experience in biodiversity and SES research (+4 years), why Paleo, etc etc etc that maybe I lost the track. But I don´t know, they were super rigid, with strong poker faces, they asked me to be more "precise", and I was SOOOOOO anxious since the morning with the interview, that maybe I messed it up. I feel kind of foggy and I don't even know how I did or how to feel. My advisor told me that it went well, that it depends on the committee which sometimes is very rigid with non-biologists, but I don't even know what to think about it....
How was your experience with the interview? How were your post-feelings?

Female, 23 years old, anxiety disorder, CPTSD, ED & ADHD with a splash of autism.
I’ve taken wellbutrin for 6 days today and I couldn’t function properly today. I had a massive panic attack in public which I’ve never had, and that scared me, I came home crying and feeling like the biggest failure ever.
After some research I’ve concluded that this medication is usually not used on people with pre existing anxiety disorders (could be wrong on that but that’s what I’ve found) I am contemplating quitting wellbutrin all together starting today - I don’t want to feel like this for 6-12 weeks while my body gets used to the dosage. As I’m quite literally afraid I’m going to kill myself with these intense panic attacks I’ve been getting.
I feel like a zombie, like my head is not where it’s supposed to, my sight and cognitive reactions are really slow, I forget things, I’m exhausted and much more anxious than before, I dream vivid dreams of unpleasant scenarios and I wake up every other hour (almost on the dot) to then fall back asleep and that goes on repeat for the rest of the night until it’s time to get up and I don’t feel rested.
I’ve tried to call my dr about it today but she dismissed me (she didn’t even tell me the side effects) and said we have an appointment in a week so let’s circle back then - which feels like a death sentence.
I am like I said afraid that I’m going to harm myself when taking this medication as the side effects makes me feel like this - should I stop?

sou formado em ads e trabalhei no setor de suporte de t.i por varios anos, suporte de sistemas e hardwares. Mas realmente cansei dessa area, cansei de vim gente me pedindo pra arrumar tela, computador, essas coisas.
Eu quero migrar de área para outra na t.i, primeiro eu pensei em cyber security, mas as vagas estão muito dificil pra entrar, pensei em area de desenvolvimento, por conta que eu já tenho uma base por causa da faculdade, mas dizem que até a area de dev está poluida hoje em dia.
Resumindo, eu estou estudando bastante programação/banco de dados para migrar para essa área(dev) e no futuro quando eu tiver um conhecimento legal, quero trabalhar como freelancer de desenvolvimento, criando sites para empresas e até aplicativos mobile.
Vocês acham que ainda da pra ser freelancer de dev no brasil ou eu estudo mesmo para entrar na area de dev em uma clt? Onde eu trabalho já tem cargo de desenvolvedor.
Aceito dicas do que eu posso fazer e qual area migrar, eu já até pensei em fazer uma faculdade de engenharia de software kk mas não vale a pena, atualmente tenho 22 anos, sou muito novo mas quero que com os meus anos eu esteja com um cargo alto ou fazendo uma grana legal

I just updated to iOS 18.1.1. Mother of god I wish I hadn't. The Control Center redesign is the worst piece of overengineered nonsense I've ever seen.
I am used to having a group of connection icons on my control center - i.e. WiFi, Cell Data, Airplane Mode etc. I did figure out how to 'unbundle' them all from the USELESS square they were in originally, but now, for some random reason, my phone requires a passcode/fingerprint every time I want to toggle my cell data off and on.
Why?

Just want to clear something up. Lund reached out to me after seeing my post about not helping me diagnose some issues.
Someone got a hold of me and we figured out some things that were potentially causing the failures. Going to pull a log as soon as it’s safe to do so up here in the PNW.
All in all, I just want to say…that’s good customer service right there!! Lund has earned a customer for life.
Sometimes it’s the little things we either overlook or simply do not know about that is causing the issue. Blaming the tuner is probably not the first thing people should do.
