Hello All!
I'm a new docent at the Haggin museum in Stockton, CA. This is one of the paintings we have on display. Unfortunately I don't know much about Napoleon yet.
Please share with me any interesting facts that you can think of regarding the painting. About which year? Thanks!
Here is a description I have of the painting: "Another of Vibert's very detailed re-creations of historical episodes, Check depicts an event from the life of Napoleon Bonaparte. Vibert did several works based on the Napoleonic epic, a very popular subject in nineteenth-century French art. His first Napoleonic painting was the Convent under Arms (1868). In his Apotheosis of Thiers (Salon of 1878), he represented several scenes from the life of Napoleon at the time of the Empire, a tribute to Thiers's History of the Consulate and the Empire?
Despite his grandfather's hero-worship of Napoleon, Vibert, the thorough iconoclast, mocks even him. In the Apotheosis of Thiers he is openly critical of the First Empire as antirepublican. The event represented in Check takes place during the same period. The famous general, who wears the uniform of the Grenadier of the Foot Guard, has just been placed in check - perhaps both literally and figuratively - by his wily uncle, Cardinal Joseph Fesch (1763-1839). Fesch, who owed his high ecclesiastical position as well as his magnificent art collection to his nephew, smugly takes a pinch of snuff. Perhaps he has made a proposal that puts Napoleon in an uncomfortable position not unlike the one that faces him on the chess board. Once again, Vibert may have caught a cardinal meddling in politics. The polar bear rug adds a note of aggression, but could also refer to the way Napoleon was checked by the Russians in 1812. In his Napoleon I and the Infant King of Rome, Vibert also refers to the antagonism between uncle and nephew, but there it is the cardinal who is thwarted in his ambitions.
As usual, Vibert is concerned with the accuracy of historical details. He has obviously studied portraits of both characters and reproduced their costumes precisely, down to the Legion of Honor medals they wear. He has reproduced Napoleon's luxurious bedroom at the palace of Fontainebleau with great fidelity, including the Emperor's own self-adulating symbols — the initial "N," the Bonaparte bees, laurel wreaths, and olive branches. Perhaps Vibert meant to allude to the vanity of power as much as to the meddling of the church in political affairs."

Starting a new hobby customizing sports action figures. Hung up on the “creating decals for team logos/player names/uniform patches” step.
Can you recommend some good apps or programs on iPad for doing things like customizing text, downloading fonts, copy-pasting or designing logos, resizing all the above, etc? I know inDesign is out there, but I absolutely don’t have the skills to get my money’s worth out of that subscription and I don’t think this project would require all of the inDesign features.
Additionally, is my best bet downloading seemingly accurate fonts to create jersey text? Or could I copy/paste/splice from a picture of a jersey?
Trying to get my foot in the door on this hobby. I really appreciate any help. Thanks!

Guys Buck DID NOT deserve the way Tommy just left him. At first, I liked Tommy because he made Buck so happy. But I felt like the more they dated, the more Buck felt like he had to please Tommy, and do things the right way. THEN he dumps the poor boy because what? He wanted a genuine relationship. Tommy started acting like he didn’t know that he was Buck’s first boyfriend. Making if seem like Buck was going to break HIS heart. But that is EXACTLY what he did to him.

Hello all. I’m looking to update my TV as I’ve just picked up a pro. My budget of £800-£1200.
With Black Friday sales already up, I’ve noticed a lot of potential offers.
I’m looking at the LG C4, which seems to have a lot of good reviews. I’m coming from a 43” 4K Sony, thinking of going slightly bigger with the 48” LG C4 (I don’t really want to lose an inch with the 42” model).
I mainly play single player games and first person shooters, so refresh rate and low input lag is key for me alongside how good the game looks in general on the TV.
Are there any other viable options from other OLED brands? This is my first time veering away from Sony TVs, but I hear the Samsung which comes in at a similar price right now is also supposedly quite good?
Anyway, happy to hear any and all advice or recommendations, or if you have a C4 and are happy with it. Thanks in advance. :)

I just started out mySchoolSMP: Season 2 for my school! (Season 2 because... well, someone logged into my account and nuked everything 🥲).

El canal 6 y Nuestro Cine tienen el volumen “independiente” del de la caja, es decir, si tengo el volumen en el 5 en la cajita y en el 30 en la tele, se escucha como el 30 de la tele y todos los demás se escuchan con el 5 de la cajita.
