Hello. I have never been on any cruise before and will be going for one this week with my wife and in laws.
We are supposed to board between 1.30 and 2 pm. To make sure we arrive at the expected time frame above, what time should we be there taking into account the time it takes to find parking and a shuttle?

Just like the subject says, wondering whether between Spyra2 and Spyra3 if one is more reliable than the other? I don't care about the extra modes in the Spyra3 and otherwise the specs seem the same so far as battery and shot capacity, distance. The overall form factor looks identical.
I would pay the premium if the Spyra3 is more reliable but if they're the same in that regard then I would just the Spyra2. Thanks for your help

Remember how I was telling you about marketing channels last time, and how no single channel is really mandatory for every author? Well, that’s not entirely true. There are 3 things you do need in order to succeed as an author.
Think of them like the three companions you’ll need with you on your adventure. Forget one home, and you’ll get stuck at some point in the story. You’ll need to go back for him, losing precious time, and even more precious readers in the process.
Your author website If readers really enjoy your book, they’ll want to find out more about you. They’ll google you, and you (and your website) better show up in the results. How you’re going to build your website depends entirely on what you want readers to do once they’ve found it.
Do you want them to sign up to your newsletter? Make that front-and center, add an incentive, and even install “exit pop-ups” (more about these here).
Do you want them to buy your other books? Make all of them available and clearly visible, with buttons to buy the book on every bookstore they’re available on.
Your mailing list Let’s say you run a free promotion for 5 days on Amazon. You get 10,000 downloads and half of them actually read the book. And then what? How do you get these 5,000 readers to find out about your next release (which they’ll hopefully pay for)?
That’s where the mailing list comes in. If you have a link to sign up at the end of all your books (and on your website), and a clear incentive for your readers to sign up — like a free book, you’ll soon build a solid following. Manage that following well, and they’ll buy every single book you put out.
An optimized product page on Amazon Amazon will likely represent over 90% of your sales, so having an optimized product page there for your book is required.
- Pick the right categories and add the right keywords.
- Make sure your blurb hooks the reader from the first line.
- Add media reviews and quotes about your book.
- Commission a professionally designed cover that catches the eye (even in thumbnail size).
- Sign up to “Author Central” and complete your author profile and bio.

Lesson #6: “Give my book away for free?! Are you crazy?” Remember the most important thing I taught you so far? Never listen to the Joker. Never. Except in some rare cases, you should definitely consider giving away your work for free. Free is powerful.
Now, I get that you poured your sweat and tears into that exceptional manuscript you’re about to publish. I really do. It’s great, and people should pay to read it, especially if you invested (as you should!) in professional editing and design.
So why are so many books free on Amazon? Why are so many authors running regular “free” promotions? Nick Stephenson, one of the UK’s top selling indie authors, explains it very well:
This is like any other online business, you need two things: traffic, and conversion (turning traffic into customers). Free is a wonderful way to get traffic, because you can get 50x to 100x more downloads on a book if it is free, compared to if it was even 99c.Free remains an incredible incentive for a reader to download your book. And while you won’t make any money out of that download, if you have the three companions from my previous email in place, you should be able to “capture” that reader and add them to your mailing list. Once there, you can ask them to purchase your next book, leave you a review, tell their friends about your books, etc.

Now we’ve seen the “power” of free, let’s delve into the different kinds of free you can do:
A “reader magnet” You advertise a free item (the first 3 chapters, a whole book, or even a full box set) on your website, and ask readers for their email address so you can send it to them.
A “perma-free” book on Amazon This is a book (usually the first in a series) that you leave for free on Amazon. You’ll get many more downloads on it, and hopefully readers discovering this one will purchase your following books.
A “free promotion” on Amazon If you’re exclusive to Amazon (i.e. enrolled in KDP select), you can run a free promotion on your book for 5 days every 90 days. Amazon will boost your visibility, and you’ll also be able to advertise this promotion on other sites (like Book Bub or Free Booksy).
So remember, free is a tool you can use to boost your visibility and drive traffic to your product page, website, and mailing list. Wipe away your sweat and tears, accept you’re running a business, and make use of that tool.
