2024.11.26 18:12 Alarmed_Fig6704 Additional Screening Required for Apple Care Claim on Bricked Ipad - Data Concerns
My 2018 ipad pro suddenly stopped working. Battery was fine previously - it just went black one day and nothing will bring it back.
Folks at the Genius bar initially said they would simply replace it. Then after diagnostics finished, they said the report claimed that "more screening was required" and that it would have to be sent to a third-party facility for this additional screening.
I assume this means someone is going to try to get in there and take a closer look.
My issue with this is that I wasn't able to wipe it (as it is bricked) and a ton of my personal data is still on there (including crypto, banking, work stuff, work and personal email access, etc.).
I was fine with a replacement as I expected they wouldn't ask for my pin and it would get wiped / reimaged as part of their refurbishing process. "Additional screening" makes me wonder if they are going to ask for my pin / password etc. though as they really dig into what's going on. Is that required for this service? If I decline to provide my pin, will the claim not be honored?
I did go into icloud and set a remote wipe to trigger as soon as it is connected to the internet, but am not sure if an internet connection would / could be established during the repair / screening process and what the order of operations will be overall.
Any advice, particularly from Apple techs with a deep understanding of the "additional screening" process would be helpful.

Im sure this has been asked before, but is it possible to play guitar through my laptop wireless? Currently I have a wireless guitar cord. One plugged into guitar one into effects peddle. The peddle is connected to focusrite interface which is hooked into laptop. All that is fine, but my headphones are wired into interface, all sounds great and no lag. But what I would really like to do is have my headphones wireless as well. I tried using Bluetooth headphones paired to Bluetooth adapter in interface, but it doesn't work when guitar is on. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you

New episode had Jeff Marek on the pod and he suggested the idea of a new rule to encourage more scoring and excitement in the NHL.
The new rule would drastically reduce neutral zone faceoffs. Example: your team is offside and now you have a d-zone faceoff. Your team scores, you get an offensive zone faceoff. Whitney then took it one step further suggesting it’s similar to icing and no line changes are allowed. I have some thoughts (especially as a past referee). What do you all think?

Looks like Qwen 2 VL 72B is still among the leaders for VLMs, in particular for OCR and text extraction. We've also had good results with MiniCPM V and some initial testing with InternVL2 72B. But none of these are available in performant APIs as far as I can tell... Is that true?
We would like to avoid a significant hardware investment by using APIs, but we've been unable to find API endpoints for these open vision models. Only Llama 3.2 seems widely supported.
Any suggestions?
