Hailey Beauregard fancied herself matriarch of the Beauregard clan. Everyone called her Ma, but Ma Beauregard was anything but a loving, caring woman. Tough as jerky and hard as oak, she was a stoic woman – as ruthless in business as any man jack.
It was her reputation more than her appearance that set her apart. To look at her, you’d see a beautiful woman with long silver hair tied always in a tight ponytail, piercing blue eyes and a come-hither figure.
But she dressed like a man – in no-nonsense jeans over cowboy boots, long-sleeve button shirts covered, always, by a gator skin vest. Her job and her joy was presiding over the many profitable family businesses including The Beauregard Hunt Club.
She could fish, hunt and shoot with the best of them. She knew the swamps as well as any guide and is credited with building The Beauregard Hunt Club into a going concern.
The Beauregard Hunt Club was well known in Steinhatchee and surrounding towns. It is one of the oldest established clubs in Taylor County. Its lineage goes back to the 1930s when Major James Beauregard retired from the Armed Services and located his large family to the Steinhatchee area. Born and raised along the Steinhatchee River, Major Beauregard had swamp water in his blood.
With the Great Depression on the horizon, young James Beauregard joined the Army. His service carried him near and far, but in his heart, Steinhatchee would always be home. Upon retirement, he returned with family in tow and bought 30 acres of land adjacent to the river. There he built the homestead that stands to this day. Hunting and fishing were his passion, and he instilled that passion into his children and grandchildren.
With his wife, Agnes, he produced and raised four sons and three daughters. On the birth of a child, the Major would purchase an additional 30 acres of swamp land which would pass to sons and daughters upon turning 21. In all, the Beauregard Hunt Club comprised 240 acres total and is said to be the largest holding of land by a single family in the region. Each parcel touches the river, which is key to its value.
The entire tract of parcels was now overseen by a single member of the Beauregard family – Ma Beauregard. Most of the descendent siblings had wandering in their blood. As they moved to new locales, each placed their parcel in the family trust which Ma administered.
Under her unwavering hand, Ma Beauregard built a hunt club that surpassed all others in terms of members, money and success. As administrator of the trust, she leased her siblings’ parcels as hunting camps for local hunters. To lease a camp, the hunter would have to be a member in good standing of The Beauregard Hunt Club and pay annual dues to remain a member. Further, hunters could lease family camps for a period of two years. The lease holders would pay an additional sum for the lease. And they would be required to pay the taxes each year on the parcel. Finally, a lessee would pay a $25,000 deposit which would be returned at the close of the lease. Breaking the lease would mean forfeiture of that deposit.
Add it all up and Ma Beauregard was raking in the dough. But there was more. She employed extended family members as local guides to preside over fishing and hunting trips for tourists. She spawned the business to put screws to the Rilerson family, as they had bested her great grandfather for the last parcel of land on the river. The feud was generational but Ma Beauregard focused serious effort on annoying and toying with the Rilersons – as though she was the one who failed to secure the parcel.
The final legal business in the Beauregard portfolio was renting scallop skiffs during the tourist season. She cut a deal with Ace Motley, Johnny Motley’s father, for exclusive use of six berths in Mott’s Marina. No cash ever changed hands, though. The rumor was that Ma had something on Ace Motley, and to buy her silence, she became a silent business partner.
While Ma was the only Beauregard sibling still living in Steinhatchee, she was far from the only Beauregard living in the town. She and her husband Perth had five children – three sons and two daughters. Sadly, Perth died in a hunting accident several years earlier. She had six grandchildren, including Marci. Also, a few of her brothers’ and sisters’ children had moved back to Steinhatchee over time, called by swamp blood running in their veins. Ma had found work for them within the family businesses, or in tangential businesses in town that she could use as the need arose.
Hard as she was, Ma Beauregard had a soft spot. It was her granddaughter Marci who she loved without restraint. Marci was the polar opposite of Ma, and that was just fine with the matriarch. Marci would grow up to be her own person – a good and honest woman with a future outside the clan. Ma did not want Marci to resemble her personality in any way. If there was going to be one Beauragard who would make a difference in the world, it would be Marci. Ma planned to see to that herself.
Then one night, Marci did not return home from work.

2024.11.27 00:40 dasfook Please do a story about Am Cyanide, Thailand's most notorious female serial killer!
This is still very recent news. As her nickname suggests, she poisoned 15 people (killing 14 of them) across the country over an eight year period. She was convicted in April 2023 and was just sentenced to death this month. There are crazy details to this story, like her ex-husband being a high ranking police officer that helped her cover up her crimes. I think this would definitely make for a great Mr. Ballen video!

2024.11.27 00:40 DirMar33 34 M4F - Seeking intense and deep connection and the casual chat that leads to it
Hello, and welcome!
This ad features bolded portions for those who don't want to dedicate the time without some reassurance it may pay off!
I'm very interested in meeting like-minded folk who believe they have some similarities with me and that we may click. Specifically, I'm seeking a cisgender woman (a preference of mine, even for platonic relations) that's 18 or older from any country and background (who that woman is matters more to me than details of this sort). I'm 34 and male myself, living in the Eastern US. I adore thorough and passionate interactions with a meaningful basis. I dislike trivialities and meaningless expectations.
I want to feel and create a deep bond that's built little by little with every conversation and action. In this way, I'm open to any possible type of relationship with the people I meet here, from acquaintances, to friends, to penpals, to something more intimate. Our connection should develop over time. My ultimate goal is to bond with those I jibe with regardless of where we end up. We'll need to feel out what works best for us and where we want to take things and when. I've experienced everything from becoming very close with someone within the first conversation to remaining very brief with others after weeks. I've enjoyed everything from reguladaily casual texts and banter to several page e-mail penpal exchanges. Let's get creative and go with the flow.
I've also always been the type to want to meet new and interesting people. Lacking similarities has actually opened me and those I met to things we would have never considered before. Some common interests and especially character traits are vital, but completely relating and having everything in common isn't as important as you would think. Knowing what traits matter most comes out in chat and interaction, not a checklist of things to conform to. I've been surprised by who I was able to bond and share with, so I'm open to a lot. I hope you are as well.
I want to make it clear that if whoever is reading this feels like we may have a connection or ability to bond together they should message me. No hesitations or doubts, please. I don't believe in losing potential and being self-defeated before anything even occurred. I've not uncommonly been told I'm patient, kind, and easy to talk to, which I hope is just as true for those I come across here. Should you like or need it, please allow me to soothe your nerves instead of allowing us to suffer from any misunderstandings or difficulties.
More about me and what I'm seeking:

2024.11.27 00:40 amooz Torn lateral meniscus surgery, but all scars are on the medial side?
Many years ago I had surgery for a torn lateral meniscus. When I woke up the surgeon said they could not find anything wrong and even looked around while they were inside my knee. The surgery was ultimately unsuccessful and soon after the doctors office seemed to ghost me. All my scarring from that surgery (3 dots basically) is on the medial/inside of my knee. I didn’t think anything of it because I’m not a doctor and didn’t know the terms.
Fast forward to late last year and I’m talking to a doctor because my knee was never fixed and it was seriously affecting my quality of life, and with our firstborn on the way I didn’t want to be held back any more because of the pain, swelling, and Inflammation that could build up while doing simple things like walking the dog. Something the doctor couldn’t quite figure out though is why, for a lateral surgery my scarring was on the medial side, and suggested I talk to the surgeon about it. So I did, and the surgeon couldn’t figure that out either, seemed to both of them that the scarring should be on the lateral side for a lateral meniscus tear repair.
I have the reports from both surgeries and both say lateral meniscus repair. I’m hoping to find some answers as to why the first surgery, which was not successful, would have left the scarring on the wrong side? I have suspicions but I’m not a doctor and wanted to see if there was a surgery technique that would make this make sense. Are there any words or phrases I should look for in the first report?
Male, was late teens in the first surgery, 36 for the second. Non smoker. Not sure what else would be relevant but I’ll add that info as requested.

2024.11.27 00:40 CollarNorth7936 Why do adults cyber bully ?
My son is 14 almost 15 he was cyber bullied by this one chick when he was only 12. He said she was really nice at first then she turned into a bully for no reason she was freaking 20. He only liked her because they loved the same band and was supporting their favorite drummer they wore the same outfits she laughed and mocked him behind his back since he's now bi-sexual she teased him called him queer gay or whatever. Last year he was obsessed with MCR he dyed his hair red to look like Gerard Way this girl laughed at him behind his back said he was gay for having red hair. No matter what he did it was wrong to her just to bully him for no reason she even blocked his mom and everyone else close to him when we were just trying to help him. She said he even copied her Tik Toks started bullying him on there he was cyber bullied for almost 2 years by this girl since they were friends at first I don't understand what caused her to be so mean he was just inspired by her he wasn't copying. He lost his cat at the beginning of the year she did send kinda weird message to his brother saying his cat is dancing in heaven which he thought was kinda sweet I still thought it was weird especially since she's been harassing and mean to him. She even laughed at him and made fun of his dyed hair behind his back. I always thought cyber bullying was just for other teens yet I guess some adults never grow up. My wife was also cyber bullied by another adult on her Instagram I don't get what's wrong with adults these days being just as mean as kids. What could have made her so mean ? How can I help him get through this ?

2024.11.27 00:40 just_A_rando7 Should I keep going to therapy?
Basically I started going to therapy cause I had a few specific doubts. I did three sessions and it went quite fine. However I don't feel I have more questions to the therapist, so I asked him if we could keep our relationship but only meet from time to time for future specific doubts. He told me that wanting to decrease frequency is a common mistake and that I should keep doing therapy to discover more stuff about myself. Now, I think it is ok for me to do 1 or 2 more sessions to integrate the insights about previous ones because it was a lot of info, but I don't see the point of going if I don't know what I'm going to talk about. I also have always this thought that I'm paying my therapist from my pocket so I feel skeptic taking into account that I'm just another client he has to keep in order to pay the bills. Should I keep going?

2024.11.27 00:40 Pretend_South_8947 Best level to start the DLCS and reach 50?
So in my current playthrough I was trying to reach level 50 or get as close to it as I could by playing the dlcs. I started HH at 6 and finished at 14, went straight to OWB and finished it on 24 (I think? Can't remember) then I did DD and finished on 30, and finally LS and finished at 34. My question is, what level should I be to be 100% sure I'll finish LR and be level 50?
