Hi all, any advice much appreciated.

Ex-partner and I built a property that was intended to be owner occupied, however we had a relationship breakdown while it was being built and decided to separate. It was the only property we owned at the time (rented while building) - IRD considered this to be bright line and would need to be filed accordingly. First question being - is there any exemption for this situation? It was purely personal circumstances that lead to the sale as neither of us could support the build costs, interest payments and rent separate households simultaneously so agreed to continue contributing from separate households based on it being marketed and sold. We did make a profit, however that would’ve just been natural capital gains as it was intended to be our family home.
IRD contacted saying I still owe tax on the sale. I disclosed the sale through all of the appropriate documentation however they’re claiming I filed tax incorrectly for that year (a significant increase on previous years which I have paid the tax for). They want me to amend my return to include a “net profit on bright line sales” input which doesn’t appear in the online portal for the amended or a new tax return (tried a 2025 without submitting to see which fields were available). I can’t fill out a field that isn’t there and previously amended my annual income instead, again because the field was not there.

Question being - if the IRD form doesn’t allow me to file for the correct tax am I liable? They’re also bringing this up 3 years after the property sale and I suspect the ex has questioned my income dropping (inflated in the year of sale) to request backpay on child support.
Note the IRD person that called said I had filed everything correctly, is their system issue my problem?
Any insights or advice much appreciated.

Upper management decided that because the client we work for doesn't recognize the day after Thanksgiving as a holiday, we have to work. Fine. We work. Give us another day off as compensation.
Account executive says no. You only get 9 days now. That is not HR policy for the company so there's a huge outrage going on right now. Exec VS. HR
Who's going to prevail? Hundreds of employees are PI$$ED! if we only get 6 holidays now, we should get 4 floating holidays to meet the company policy.

I was on the pill for only 5 months back in 2022, but got off it cuz the side effects were undesirable for me.
However, this year I learned how undeservingly stigmatized the pill is. I explained to one guy that I was on BC and that made me moody, and since I am waiting until marriage, he asked me why I’d be on BC.
Women go on BC for various reasons, but I don’t think it’s fair to always assume that women will go on the pill for the sake of preventing pregnancies while being sexually active.
BC has gotten mainstream attention as simply just a contraceptive, but I don’t think it is as well known as a treatment for certain diseases. While not for everyone, every woman taking BC has her own reasons for going on it, and some reasons are unheard of for men, such as treating painful periods.
My mom is a midwife and she also knows that unfortunately there really aren’t many treatments to endo other than BC or surgery.
I’ve been off the pill for years now and treat my pelvic pain via diet & a TENS unit, but that’s because I prefer those treatments.
I will always be fully supportive of any woman who is thinking about going off the pill, but I can’t blame you if you continue to take it, especially since those months while I was on it gave me sensational relief. If only women’s health had more widespread attention.

They were reporting on a number of 911 calls from an apartment complex dealing with wild turkeys. Apparently, these turkeys were terrifying residents. Kids being attacked trying to get the bus stop, a women trapped in her car, and then trapped in the laundry room, which opened to the parking lot. The reporter was interviewing the women in the parking lot, when said turkeys descended. The reporter and the lady were screaming, and the camera guy moves over to film an old guy running from the laundry room with a broom to chase the turkeys away. It felt like I was watching SNL.
