2024.11.27 04:35 Ok-Bird9834 Is Japanese required for Software Developer Job in Japan
I have almost 10 years of experience full-stack software developer in India, mostly working in product-based companies only. In Java and Spring boot, react, I am good in ds algo also. I am a very hard worker and have a pretty good reputation in all my previous companies and above average skill set, I have built a lot of products from scratch.
I am looking to move outside India (required visa sponsored), I don't have any family members outside India, so don't know much about it. The USA is the priority but is very competitive and uncertain, people get fired almost every day there, so looking for a stable place.
My goal is to explore a new country for the next 4-5 years then come back, and yes some good hikes.
So now, as per my best knowledge (I might be wrong) 2 places come into my mind, either Japan or Germany (please let me know if there are other countries for IT jobs).
Someone told me that if I learn the native language of the country and then apply, that will help a lot in getting a job there.
I am good in English and some Indian languages but have no prior knowledge of any foreign languages, so learning any new language will be the same for me.
I am not planning for the immediate move but have almost 6 months to 1 year in hand so I can learn at least the basics of the language.
Japan is very good and advanced in robotics and automobiles but I don't think they have a good IT sector (as per my knowledge). Initially, I started learning Japanese but later read on a Quora that Japanese is spoken only in Japan, so I will be confined within 1 country only.
On the other hand, Germany has quite a good IT sector (again as per my knowledge). German is spoken in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Belgium so that gives more options.
I am kind of introverted and mostly stay indoors, I don't drink or party, and I am an easygoing person, so adjusting to a new culture should not be a problem.
So I am confused now, about which way to go, once I commit to a language, I will spend the next 6 months to 1 year learning it, before starting to apply.
And so far I know LinkedIn only, so please let me know about other job portals in the country.

Basically, there is an equal IC of ships on both sides with 20 subs and 13 destroyers, and the subs are set to always engage. As you can see, the always engage subs trade better against the destroyers in terms of IC, which means they will kill all the escort ships eventually. Now, why does escort destroyers still work somewhat against the ai? it's because they have old submarine models and would never put the subs above medium risk that allows them to engage with destroyers. 2024.11.27 04:35 green__1 a rare encounter with mandatory tips
I'm pretty against the concept of a "mandatory tip", but lots of places do it if you have a group over a certain size. But I just thought I'd pass on an experience from this weekend that struck me as unusual, but in a good way.
Restaurant stated on their menu that there was a mandatory tip of 15% for all groups over 5 people. We were a group of 9. When the waiter brought us the machine at the end to pay, the 15% had already been put on our receipts with big bold text of "TIP INCLUDED" and there was no option on the machine to add a tip.
There were several reasons this was a positive experience for me despite the tip being mandatory:
- The service and food was actually very good, so I felt deserving of a tip
- The mandatory tip was clearly presented on the menu, and on the receipt
- They didn't try to trick people into "double tipping" by asking again on the machine after already mandating the tip
- In this day and age, 15% is unusually reasonable
The restaurant in question is called "Japanese Village", and for those not familiar, it's more than a meal, the chef cooks your meal right at your table, and puts on a bit of a show while doing so, so this isn't your classic "grab from the back, drop it on the table, expect a $30 tip" type of place.
So while I would prefer tipping to simply go away, this interaction didn't leave me feel like I'd been bent over a barrel too far.

Basically, I haven't been updating my proudest and strongest longfic on for over a month now, and barely started the latest chapter. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware of the typical tips against blockage: write a few hundred words each day, take a walk, usurp a foreign throne, etc.
What keeps me tossing and turning is rather the feeling of....shame, I think? Yknow, when you remember that dozens of people have bookmarked your work, have subscribed, have been patiently waiting for a while, and you just sit there and barely got a thousand words on your Word document?
Of course, not every author must have experienced this sensation (chrmchrm ❄️🔥). However, for those who have:
