2024.11.27 04:30 TheMagicTheif134 Anyone Else Not Liking The Direction Of D&D Lately?
Not here to rant, as I actually am a massive fan of D&D in general and understand as the DM you can just do whatever you want. However, is it just me or have the editions been getting simpler and simpler with every book that comes out?
With the arrival of 5th edition various monsters were watered down both in lore as well as abilities. To the point of down right absurdity. However, it was manageable. With that being said, with the rise of new books, various monsters who were unique suddenly get replaced with newer yet less rich versions of themselves. (Succubus, Nabassu, etc.)
Spells have also gotten this treatment as well. Not only did we flat out lose a ton of spells from previous editions, but the new spells they're producing are just...bad.
Not all of them, but a decent amount. Hell, a good chunk of conjuration spells in 5e and 5.5e are literally just retextured versions of evocation spells. The complex and optional rules from previous books are just GONE, replaced with incredibly simplistic mechanics, which is fine, but those rules aren't there for the player every time. They're also there for the DM.
I understand we can choose everything. However, if I'm doing all the work to begin with, to make all these spells, improve all these monster, and make up rules for specific things in the world that, might I add, should already be explained. Why do I need the book to begin with?
I should be given an in depth template, not an ever growing lake of shallowness.
What do you all think? Think I'm overthinking it or did I pass the perception check? Eager to hear from you all.

I think this is a show that struggles to implement modern-day ethics (such as diversity not only in race but sexuality) that is lacking in the book. I think the book stands strong representing the perspective of a white woman's views on feminine oppression. I think when you explore these ideas and intentionally show diversity I think you need to take into account the "villians" you are painting. No matter how you slice it, these are white far-right minions. They would likely not value the lives of women who don't match their preferred image which in America would be white. I think by and large even with birth rates down the first stages of Gilead would have the non-white American women in those colonies and possibly as Marthas. I think genocide would occur for the men of these ethnic groups because they would be seen as a threat more so than the women. maybe later on if too few white women could procreate they would then move to raping fertile non-white women. I think also including the mass genocide of trans individuals who could not procreate would be an organic hard truth to include. Idk without some acknowlegment of intersectionality the show reads as flat when throwing all these identities in my face tbh. The closest they may have gotten is killing the Martha in front of Emily, I think it was a good representation of the persacution many gay people have faced all over the world even currently..

Anyone with an sls ...does your sls not look very smooth when scrolling websites? My sls 3050ti 16gb ram at 120hz when scrolling thru websites it doesn't look smooth at all, it's jittery. my ipad and phone look so much better. Should I try to factory reset my laptop.

They are not particularly experienced with computers, so is there a ease, free solution to put music onto iPod Minis and iPod Classic (6G/7G) on macs without itunes? They should be fine on older macs and windows with iTunes, just need an easy, free solution to transfer music to iPods on newer macs. Any ideas?
