About to be first time seller on Etsy starting January 1st 2025. I have a custom made to order product and I’m figuring out the price per unit and profit. How do you do free shipping. I don’t mean on etsy settings to advertise free shipping. Like how do you all do it. Are you a registered LLC have a business account with ups, usps, fedex? Do you have to have a registered LLC to get a business account with a logistics carrier. I guess I can do more research there but if someone can steer me in the right direction. Is the business account monthly, yearly. How much do you pay for free shipping? What do your figures look like per unit?
Or is it best for the customer to pay for shipping starting off. I’m asking because even though my unit is unique, my potential competitors in the same category are offering free shipping and I want to be able to compete with them.

I'm neurodivergent and unpacking some childhood stuff. I was considered a profoundly gifted kid and was treated like a burden by my parents and sibling. My elementary school wanted me to jump from starting 3rd grade to 5th grade, and maybe skip more down the line. This would have undeniably enhanced the trajectory of my life. Full ride scholarships, in the right rooms where my intellect would be seen as an asset and not a threat, etc. They decided not to let me advance. They didn't want me "around older boys." They said, "if you're so smart, you'll figure it out." I didn't even get angry about it til the pandemic, because I've been in survival mode without a support system since I was 9 yrs old. Not having family who loved me, I saw men with red flags like they were home cooking. The love I gave was given freely, the love I received was served cold and with deception and contrmpt.
I made some really unfortunate choices in my adult life, basing my self worth on how I was treated, and aligning myself around people who treated me like they hated me. I married a narcissist with whom I had 2 daughters. He terrorized us. I was working at a theater venue and supporting our family while working part time. We were living in my grandmother's house who had passed away and I was paying the property taxes and utilities. I told my mom and brother that the girls and I needed to get safely away from the violence and abuse. I had formed a plan that got him out and the girls and I would have followed suit shortly after. We went to a wedding out of state and I had money for movers to move his belongings into the garage while we were gone. Instead they put an eviction notice on the door before we left. He beat me so bad for that. 2 cracked ribs. They sold the house for $100k less than it's worth now. My mother stole money and my diamond ring given to me by my grandmother. She promised me $10k from the sale of the house, but instead she was angry about the holes he punched in the walls. No care or concern for the damage it caused my girls and I. It put my ex husband in a position of power and custody was awarded to him because his family had his back and my family didn't have mine.
I was really hoping that with Covid and time passing, my mom and brother would have had some time to reflect and wish things had gone differently, but they're just as selfish and spiteful as they were back when I was still a child. I am devastated that I have never been advocated for, but free will is real, so none of them owe me anything. The holidays are really tough for an orphan who has been devalued and discarded, but at least the abuse is over. Am I the asshole for trying to understand why no one would protect us? Am I the asshole for wanting answers or an apology?
