Officer: Travel out of the country? Me: Yes. In HongKong last 2018 (obviously, this is not included in the DS-160 form since they’re asking of the travel WITHIN 5 yrs, 2018 was 6 yrs ago lol)
Officer: Who are you traveling with? Me: Just the two of us
Officer: Sorry we cannot grant you a non-immigrant visa this time.
QUESTIONS: 1. My aunt is a Senior Doctor in a cruise ship who invited us and will be the one financing the trip, I have all the supporting documents such as invitation letter, her bank statement, employment contract, etc., but it was not asked at all. How can I present this the next time?
- Do you think we’re too young to travel? If so, do I need an adult companion to travel to increase the chance of being approved? If yes, I have an aunt who already has a visa and have travelled to the US and many other countries before and went back here. By the way, I will be the only one to get a visa for the 2nd time. My sister will not push through since payment fee is too expensive lol
- Do you think they are doing background checks in our socmeds? Because I am a nursing graduate but will be pursuing medicine next year. I am afraid that this might have affected my previous visa application, thinking that I will work there as a nurse lol.

I dont have anything in my bank account. Tbh, whenever my salary credits - credit card bills and small money lended from frnds eat up my whole salary. Not whole, I invest about 5k every month in stock(not regular) . All I have is Rs. 4 Lakhs in Stocks, and PF account might have Rs. 1.5L in it. If I get married by 29, I know things would be very difficult. And at the same time, I have to save a good amount for Marriage functions and all. I genuinely want suggestions from experienced people about my situation and how can I do better.

33M. So I just noticed this note in MyChart. I was only aware of an enlarged para aortic lymph node in the abdomen but the referring GI doctor has referred to large mediastinal lymph nodes in a referral? Could it just be a slip of the tongue/he misspoke or is it possible that there are more swollen nodes than they’ve told me?

I don't watch a lot of b-horror that is newer, since it relys to heavy on cgi, and it looks like dogshit. Hey all! I'll soon be finishing my undergrad and moving straight to paid master's assistantship. I don't plan on taking our any more loans. My wife will soon be starting medical school. I really need some guidance on payment options regarding Parent Plus for me and my parents, who are unable to help me with the coming loan payments. They make a decent wage, and I worry the double consolidation loophole wouldn't help shrink their payment size (does it account for their existing personal debt?). I've only recently married, so didn't qualify for the Pell Grant or any significant financial aid during me or my wife's undergraduate degrees. We had no other financial options available to us at the time. My total loans are fairly low because I had some scholarships and paid off a significant part of my tuition with working full-time through my BS.
Background Info:
- Graduating with BS in Dec 2024
- $20K Federal Direct (Unsub=$15K /Sub=5K)
- $5K Parent Plus Loan
- Starting paid assistantship for MS, no new loans will be taken out (Dec 2024-2026)
- Would prefer to start paid PhD position (2026-2030)
- Parents on both sides unable to help with loan payments
- Wife completing undergrad, starting medical school soon (Finish 2030)
- Expecting to make ~$100K salary, so long as I'm able to finish PhD (not expecting difficulty finding work in my field after PhD)
- Is the Double Consolidation Loophole the best option? Concerned about parents' seemingly-high income affecting income-driven repayment. They have their own debts.
- Should I refinance loans in my name? I'm interested in income-based repayment plans, so long as they are not through the scope of my parents' wage. I know this is usually not advised, but if somehow could get these loans in my name and be able to hold off payments until my wife and I complete school in 2030.
- Planning for PhD in 2026-2030 (funded). Worried about managing loan payments while in school.
- Could we just get all of these payments deferred until post-PhD? My wife has her own federal and Parent Plus loans that we are expected to cover post-graduation

My ex and I were together for a year, and it felt perfect. We connected deeply, not just as a couple but as best friends. I inspired him to live a healthier, more positive lifestyle, and he made me feel appreciated and valued. However, we broke up due to religious and cultural differences, knowing we couldn’t take the next step of introducing each other to our families. After the breakup, I moved on and stayed focused, while he fell back into partying, drugs, and ultimately dated someone from his background who was “great on paper.”
His ex was someone who fit perfectly into his family’s expectations—same religion, culture, and values. But he told me it felt like he was living for his family instead of himself. He said there was no real connection or inspiration in that relationship, and she didn’t bring out the best in him. Even though they were together for six months, he went back to his old habits—partying, drinking, and doing drugs. Ultimately, he realized that the dynamic he and I had was what he truly missed, and he ended things with her.
Fast forward, we’ve reconnected, and he’s been honest about everything that happened this past year. Since we started seeing each other again, he’s completely sober, working out, and seems much happier and more like the man I knew. He’s even mentioned me to his parents as a friend and wants us to take things day by day without worrying about the future.
Here’s where I’m torn: He provides so much for me financially. He insists on paying for everything, from day-to-day expenses to things I don’t even ask for or need. For some time now I've been wanting to disappear and start over.
I feel like I offer nothing to anyone. I feel like a burden, I feel useless.
I care about my brothers but I don't know if I love them. We all grew up very poor, trying to survive, thinking when the next meal will come. Sleeping in the cold and dark. Our mother finding respite in drugs. And now I just don't want to be involved in society. Not necessarily want to end my life. I have this unbearable urge to disappear and start a new life elsewhere. I have started many endeavours without completion. I am self sabotaging.
I feel like I offer nothing to my friends and family and feel like they would not miss me. I'm not close with my brothers and friends. I haven't accomplished anything meaningful. I haven't lived a life worth living. I don't want to die, I just want vanish, be forgotten. Im not a bad person nor good, I've committed no crime yet I feel people view me as scum, a low life. Someone not to be trusted or relied on.
I hate it here, I hate myself more than anything. I've thrown myself into weed, alcohol and sex In the way of escorts only to numb the feeling of loneliness. And with that I carry so much shame and guilt.
I don't want to share this with my brothers and friends. Even with the possibility they may understand or empathise.
I'm not sure what the purpose of this post is. It's out there now for anyone to read.

iOS once had a dedicated, larger DND button in the control center before it incorporated focus. To get back that larger button, I've created a shortcut that uses the moon-symbol, and placed it in my control center, right where the old button used to be (see image). Everything works great except for one issue: I can't figure out how to code the symbol to change color when DND is activated/disabled. So my question is: is it possible to change the graphic symbol my shortcut uses if certain conditions are met? For example, if DND is enabled, the symbol would look like the inverted crescent moon symbol, and if it's not enabled, it would look normal.
