Advice needed on job offer
Hi guys, I recently got an offer from an old friend from church to work at his small tax practice. My compensation would be matched at my current job at a mid sized firm (around 80K) without any bonuses.
However he is retiring and needs an extra person to take over his work when he is gone in about 2 years. Here is info about the job:
- Small tax firm with 4 accountants
- Busy season is all in office
- Since it's almost all tax it is very slow outside those hours and people are entitled to unlimited PTO. An employee told me it's not uncommon for people to go off grid for a few weeks and months.
- I'm getting paid a salary now but once he retires he will pay me like the others, basically I keep 33 percent of what I bill. Average billing per employee is around 350-400K. I'd be doing all the billing and admin side of things.
- When he retires he plans to hold all shares but stated he would be interested in selling them.
- I'd be incentived heavily by bringing in new clients which is something I don't have at my current firm.
Let me know what you guys would do and any thoughts of advice is super helpful as I'm really over thinking this.

So I am around 5’10-5’11 and about 210. I’m not the proudest of my body right now which is why I have started working out a little. Before this i basically never lifted a weight with the intention of working out. So I’m completely lost on what to do, how to do it, and when I should do it. My biggest dilemma is that I don’t have money, but I do have a bench with a set of 10, 15, and 20 pound dumbbells, which have essentially been what I use to work out for the better part of a week. I walk 1 mile before hand to kinda get my blood flowing. I know it’s too early to see results but I want to gain muscle and look better over all and don’t want to be putting in effort in something that isn’t going to work. Is there any advice anyone has?

I bought a Euphorbia pulcherrima last year with the intention of keeping it alive long-term. It was a tiny specimen on clearance sale for 99 Cents, in the smallest pot (2 in/5 cm?) you can find commercially. Keep in mind the photo makes it appear much larger than it actually was. Then, it showed first signs of growth at the end of February and hasn’t stopped since.
It doesn’t get any special treatment and spends its life pressed against a west-facing window in the general vicinity of Berlin. I don’t even close the blinds to shield it from artificial light, but it doesn’t seem to care as you can see.
Things I’ve learned about Poinsettia from observation:
- Keeping the dirt consistently moist during the bloom prevents it from going into dormancy and dropping all leaves. Guess that's why I see so many defoliated plants in the supermarket.
- Bottom watering seems the way to go.
- Needs tons of light.
- It’s very thirsty.
- It’s very hungry.
- It grows real quick. One repot wasn't quite sufficient...
This year, another but much larger Poinsettia has joined the crowd for 2.99 on, again, clearance sale. So far, it seems perfectly content behind a west-facing window in our insulated, but unheated stairway (never gets too cold there). Has dropped maybe two or three leaves in the span of about two weeks.

 | I have a GI appointment in the morning but just wanted to ask others for suggestions and support. I had the SITZ marker test. Got two x-rays and of course my body decided to partially work. First image at day 4 showed 23 of the 24 markers, last image at day 6 showed 12 remaining. My GI messaged me saying it indicative of Slow Transit Constipation. I read up on it and it sounds hard to manage and some cases patients need a colostomy. It's also apparently rare? I'm afraid my doctor is just going to act like this is just normal constipation because I have a lot of medical trauma. I've tried a lot of OTC meds and remedies, linzess, amtiza, other commonly prescribed laxatives. Next thing that was discussed was trying Montegrity but insurance is being hard to deal with. It's just with a lot of these treatments they either cause me enough pain I want to die or rip my colon out, adds more nausea on top of my 24-7 nausea, or just caused gas and didn't do anything. I'm also suffering from vomiting and unable to eat anything soild or heavy. I've gone from 180 to 130 from the start of this year. I was hovering at 155 until the last 4 months. Most meal replacement drinks either still make me vomit or causes more nausea. I'm surviving off of bone broth, crackers, rice cakes, ice cream bars/ popsicles, pudding, jello, some baby food and frozen grapes because I can basically just suck the juice out. I usually wait a week, then take a lot of laxatives and cry through the pain. And it's not rectum pain from constipation it's intestinal pain, then I regret taking anything but then I remember when I didn't go for 3 weeks and how bad that experience was. Idk I'm just scared and I can't find a specific support group for this. How bad is this? hi everyone! i’ve posted in here a few times but i had a concern and i wanted to see if anyone else experienced these as well.
my first concern and probably the biggest one is my incision and the swelling. i got my stitches removed today (and got activated, yay!!) and all of a sudden, i have a ton of swelling around my incision that wasn’t there before. the swelling is much worse on the actual incision itself and then to left of them than on the right side. for some context, my incision goes up about 3” or so on my head and then around the back of my ear. i have pretty severe anxiety so i think i’m just freaking myself out but it feels like my implant is under my incision. (i guess that can be normal?) this is my first major surgery that i can actually remember so every little thing has me freaked out. i should also mention that everywhere else was pretty swollen prior to these appointments and we did have to put a lot of pressure on my processor to get it to magnetize to my head so that also could have maybe triggered the late swelling? (it took my audiologist and i almost an hour to troubleshoot getting my implant to even connect to the computer and find/ get the magnet to stay. we ended up having to use toupee tape for a little bit until it finally decided it wanted to connect.)
i was just wondering if anyone has had something like this happen and once the swelling went back down, it felt like it was your implant or if it was just swelling. i honestly think it’s just swelling from everything at my appointment and i’m just freaking myself out!
