I'm making financial plans to slowly build up my equipment. Initially, I want to make simple, short documentaries, and as I purchase more and better stuff I'll move on to more complex enterprises. For audio equipment, I have a Zoom H6 and a boom with a blimp. Next up on my list is a lapel mic. Looking online for used stuff, I found Sennheiser EW-100's at very affordable prices. I used them a lot in college, so I'm familiar with operating them and with the end product. But that was 10 uears ago. Today, in 2024, are they still worth purchasing? Or should I try to get newer models, even though they are more expensive? Keep in mind, I love in Brazil: so far, these are the only models I have found used, so fir different equipment I'd have to purchase them new.

This was probably the thing that surprised me the most about the uni and not in a good way.
And I really can’t believe that the uni is not doing anything about this, I am an exchange student and the uni was very VERY pushy that I needed to provide a certificate to prove that I could speak “proper” english, knowing this I do not understand how can there be students here that do not speak english.
They literally discuss in chinese in the classes, translate every single thing to chinese with some app, play games with headphones at every class.
I have a seminar on Tuesday that is approximately 99% people from China and then me and that seminars is a complete waste of time since even when we get our assignments they do not discuss anything since they don’t speak english and stay quite the whole hour or when they finally speak, they speak chinese between them and I’m completely left out.
Was anybody also shocked by this?

2024.11.27 12:21 Melodic_Struggle5918 New monitor isn't achieving 240hz - What am I doing wrong?
So I had a new PC build not long ago and was fine using my old monitor but yesterday upgraded to a Samsung Odyssey G4 LS25BG400EUXXU 25" 240Hz. When going into my display settings it doesn't give me the option to get any better than 60hz, likewise in the NVIDIA control panel.
I'd read up and noticed my HDMI to DP cable wasn't capable of doing 240Hz. So I ordered this off Amazon - UGREEN DisplayPort to HDMI Cable Uni-Directional Braided 8K@60Hz, 4K@240Hz/120Hz, 2K@240Hz DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1.
Unfortunately this hasn't solved my problem. I have a RTX 4070 graphics card in my PC if that's anything to go off. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with the new Sony Bravia 9 that I just purchased. I have it hooked up to my Nakamichi Dragon soundbar via eARC and I'd ideally like to hook up my devices to the soundbar for lossless audio codecs. The issue is that any devices hooked up to the soundbar have some very obnoxious audio syncing issues that aren't really solvable because if you manage to fix it by adding audio delays, it becomes unsynced again in a few minutes. Not to mention that the syncing is different per app (Plex vs YouTube vs Netflix, etc.)
This seems to be a very common issue across Sony's Bravia line as well as their OLEDs like the A95L. It seems the only real way to completely get around it is to connect devices directly to the TV instead of the soundbaAVR. The issue with that is that I'm not sure how much that's really affecting the audio codecs going back and forth. If I plug my Nvidia Shield TV into the soundbar and play a blu-ray ripped onto PleX, the soundbar pops up with "Dolby Atmos TrueHD" as you'd expect. If I have the Shield connected to the TV and play the same exact movie, the soundbar pops up with "Dolby Atmos Mat".
Doing some research, it seems like Dolby Atmos Mat is just a container that can contain Dolby Atmos TrueHD metadata. So, the question is: with a movie that has Dolby Atmos TrueHD, how much, if any, quality am I losing by connecting my device to the TV and passing Dolby Atmos Mat to my soundbar?
