i remember everyone getting involved with politics that year. a lot of people discovered they were lgbtq. so many peers became indie kids. i feel like everyone had self-discovery that year.
i feel like I missed out. I just became hyper-christian out of fear of the world ending. no cool aesthetics. no being political. just sat at home, doing art, reading the Bible, and hiding the fact I was bi.

2024.11.27 14:39 honeyskipper I react to a lot of medications and I’m curious if a doctor has any advice.
23F here, 140 pounds, 5’7”. I’ve reacted in a lot of different ways to different medications, but want to ask about this one particular kind of reaction I get because it happened again today with Zyrtec.
With decongestants and cold/cough medicines like Dimetapp, Mucinex, etc. I have a horrible reaction. Knowing my history, I’ve always made sure to eat a full meal before attempting to take it, have plenty of fluids, and take way less than an adult dose— but no matter how much I take (i could barely lick it and it would still occur) this happens:
It starts with head tingles. Then those increase and become really intense, like my head is covered in icy hot. My stomach starts with a stabbing pain and I get really dizzy. Soon I have a full blown trip out where the room spins and I’m extremely uncomfortable. In the past this has caused me to lose feeling in my body and can’t control my muscles or my breathing (i go limp), pass out, and even hallucinate.
So because that’s happened so many times, I’ve sworn to never take cold/cough/decongestion medications EVER AGAIN.
But all of a sudden I have really bad seasonal allergies, so I decided to try Zyrtec since all my friends swear by it. I don’t have a history of seasonal allergies so I don’t have much experience with antihistamines, but for whatever reason this season they are horrible.
I tried Zyrtec this morning and took the same precautions— ate a full meal and took half an adult dose— just in case I reacted for some reason. And I did. The same way I do with cough/cold medications. My head feels horrible and tingly and I’m getting dizzy, so after this I’m going to sleep to try to time skip through the worst of it.
All I want to know is: What causes this kind of reaction? Are there similarities between cough/cold/decongestant medications and Zyrtec?

I went NC with my parents and most of my family years ago. There was a long history of abuse but the last straw was their transphobia and realising that transitioning and keeping them in my life were mutually exclusive.
I last saw my mum two years ago, when she crashed my best friend's funeral to pester me until I had to leave.
I'm LC with two sisters. One is vaguely supportive, but she blames me for my mum rejecting me, and is still upset with me for this.
My other sister is openly transphobic but mildly. I haven't seen her in person for 1.5 years because I don't realistically look like a man anymore, which is the only thing I can be around her. I've kept in contact with her over the phone in the hopes that she'll be more open in the future, but the culture is going in the opposite direction and this might never happen. Also, my other sister would never forgive me if I cut her off. So we're stuck in this limbo.
My mum is very ill, maybe dying, and my sisters are expecting support from me about it. I grieved her years ago, and don't feel comfortable being involved. It feels a lot better pretending she's dead. I think they're expecting me to try reconciling with her or something. How can I maintain relationships with my sisters whilst also maintaining boundaries?

So my 2014 FF (155000 miles, TCM replaced early 2023) is doing this thing where while I'm driving the traction light, abs light, and one more I haven't caught yet will flash on quickly and then on the screen it will flash "Start up assist not available" before quickly going away. I have a 35 minute commute to work, and it did it probably 100 times this morning, several times in a row each time, just flashing on and off. My radio has been cutting out too. I can repair it myself if someone can point me in the right direction on where to start looking.

Hey! So, I've been trying to teach myself the Tuluth script for almost two years now, but I feel quite lost with my practice. I started out in the traditional way of learning the "Rabbi Yasir," then I moved onto learning letters individually, then in letter pairings. However, I don't feel like there has been much improvement, especially because I do not have a teacher who could critique my work. Now, I just copy off ayahs from a mesk I have of Mehmed Sevki Efendi's work. Can someone please tell me how they learned the script on their own, and what a good learning process/pathway would be? Also, how do I know when I can move on from learning a specific letter or letter pairing? How do I go about learning without a teacher?
