2024.11.27 14:20 Needermier 2017 Golf Alltrack Thermostat Warranty

Hi all,
My 17 Golf Alltrack was in for an oil change recently at the dealer and they noted a leaking valve cover and a thermostat leaking coolant. Was quoted $1500 for the valve cover and $1300 for the thermostat replacement. I found out about the water pump extended warranty that also covers the thermostat and housing, and pushed back on the $1300. They said it may not be covered as the water pump was not the cause of the thermostat failure, but are putting in a call to the warranty center to check. (I thought this was a pretty common failure so I was surprised they didn't know, think they may just be sending me home so they can tell me no on the phone instead of in person)
My reading of the warranty language says nothing about the pump needing to be the cause, just that water pump, thermostat, and housing failures are covered.
Has anybody had any experience with the water pump extended warranty? Definitely within the In-Service date range of 8 years and only at ~50K miles so they had no issue with the car actually being covered, just had issue with the cause of the failure.
Our extended warranty (other than for the pump etc.) is now up, so was looking into independent shops in the area, but wanted to get the thermostat covered under warranty if possible.

So 3,5 months ago my 9 year relationship ended. I felt devastated and my soul was crushed. In the end it took me about 2 - 2,5 months to get over the heartbreak. Here is my 10 step guide in random order how I did it:

  1. Focus on yourself
She/he is gone. It is time now to focus on yourself. This will be the main narrative for all the following steps. Your ex will be on your mind, but it should not be your priority to keep yourself busy with your ex. I do not care what kind of story you have with your ex and for what reason the relationship ended. Having excuses for your reasoning behind these things will not help you further. Set your own goals and get going!
  1. No contact
You can nog have contact with your ex. Do not text them for any reason. It will not heal you and will only give short term gratification. On the long term it will not help you! If your ex stalks you, be respectful, tell them you are not interested and want to focus on yourself and wish them good luck (this worked for me). If needed, block them. It is not disrespectful to block them, it will be for the best if needed.
  1. Delete social media
Do not follow them on social media and if needed, block them. Do really want to see pictures or clips of them having fun or being with someone else? No, so do not follow them. Out of side, out of mind.
You can also delete social media in general. Social media will give you the wrong concept of who people really are and could make you feel worse during a vulnerable time.
  1. Delete photos
Yes. You will delete them. Else you will stay stuck in the old memories and you might not be able to let go. Also, it sets up a better start for a new relationship. I would not like to have a new partner that is still stuck in her old memories. Here is a video which may help you to make a better choice:

  1. Do fun things, create new memories
If you keep laying in bed, you will feel miserable and you will not make progress. You have to try to do fun things and create new memories. Old memories have to be replaced by new fun ones. You will miss your ex, because you used to do thinga with that significant other, but this will get better over time. Trust the process.
  1. Don't go too far (drugs, alcohol)
You can have fun with friends and create new memories, but do not take it too far. Personally I did not do any drugs from the breakup up till now. Alcohol also made me feel worse. For some it will ease the pain, SO WATCH OUT. Do not use any substances if you are prone to addiction. It will not help you and will get you into new problems.
  1. Expressing feelings to others
Talk to people about your feelings and what bothers you. Talk to friends, family, strangers or whoever. You will be surprised how many stories people got which you can possibly relate to. This helped me a lot. Do not do this for too long. After a while you should not be talking about your ex at all, else they will keep lingering in your mind.
On the other hand, helping others with their breakups, helped me to cope better with my problems. Helping others might actually bring more peace to your mind, than suspected.
  1. Accept the 'feeling'
Accept that you are hurt. A breakup is not easy and the pain only means that this person mattered a lot to you. Most people will go through the same steps:
  1. Surreality
  2. Sadness
  3. Anger
  4. Acceptence
It varies per person how long each step takes and how you jump between the steps. Accept the feeling and understand that it will influence your behavior. These feelings are not unknown, express the feelings to others and ask how they coped. Keep hope! Acceptence will come!
  1. Tackling bad habits
In general it is smart to tackle bad habits, bit even more during a breakup. I used to scroll on instagram for no reason at all. During the relationship I was not proud of it, but it did not feel to bad, but after the relationship I felt the worst when I was unproductive and wasting time.
Try to stay productive. Learn new skills and get to work. Get better at your job and go to the gym. Going to gym 6x a week, reading a new book every 2 weeks and improving/promoting got me over my breakup and also made me a better person in general. These will do wonders.
  1. Listen to your head and not your heart
The last one is the most tricky and might be hard to give in to. During a breakup your heart will not always give you the best advice. It will be better to use your head instead.
I have had so many moments where I wanted to text my ex or see her, because my heart was hurting so much. In the end I did not do it. I had to keep my head up and not listen to my heart. Eventhough you miss your ex so much, you can not keep in contact. Same goes for your exes social media and pictures. In the first 3 weeks I could not delete them, but now I feel relieved that I did.
Your mind will tell you what to do and the best choice is to focus on yourself and do your thing. In the end this will let you make the most process.

25, M, 247 ng/dl total, 8.2 pg/ml free As the title says I just got blood work back, I’m currently at 247 ng/dl total and 8.2 pg/ml free/direct. Where do I go from here? Are my results low for someone my age? I’ve dealt with depression, weight gain, constant fatigue, brain fog, low to almost zero sex drive the past two years. I chalked it all up to depression but I’m starting to think they all correlate with each other. I’m constantly tired, no matter how much rest I get. My mood is all over the place and I deal with depression which I’m taking medicine for. I feel hopeless most days and just get by knowing people rely on me. I’m tired of feeling like shit. I’m 6’1, 310. I’ve put on 70lbs in the last year and half. I’ve always been a bigger guy, but always athletic and fit. I played football throughout high school and college and I have to be relatively in shape for my job now. I understand it’s not just whatever is going on with my testerone but I have no motivation, being tired and sad all the time is terrible. Wondering if it’s genetics too, my father has a tumor on his pituitary gland that affects his testosterone levels. Just went over my results with my doctor and she’s sending me to get more blood work, a MRI, and an appointment with an endocrinologist but that won’t be for atleast 3 months.
