2024.11.27 16:30 GJKings Lurching performance stutters - G14 2024
I've had my 2024 G14 for around 4 months now, and occasionally I load up a game - ANY game - and find it kind of lurching. Like it slows and speeds up again to catch up, making the game fairly unplayable. I've had this happen on hunt Showdown, Star Wars Outlaws, and even a little pixel art deckbuilder I was making a trailer for.
Restarting my machine and loading the game up again seems to fix it, but I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this, and if they have any more permanent solutions for it? I do have G Helper installed, and no ASUS processes running. I tend to use Ultimate performance profile, and am usually on Balanced CPU, but do sometimes notch it up to Turbo.

I am ambassador to Earth from a semi famous planet in the Federation. I won't mention my species, other than to say that it would be an illogical question. Nonetheless, I require counsel from the Daystrom parenting institute. I have a son, well a couple but this concerns one in particular. As I am ambassador to Earth, it was only logical to seek out a human mate.
I have had a few human mates, but some time ago one of them managed to "baby trap" me. Turns out interspecies children are possible. Had I known I may have used contraceptives, but you live and you learn. I married her and we raised our son together. Problem was that son felt my disappointment since he was old enough to walk. How could I not be disappointed in a filthy hybrid?
When he was old enough, I arranged for him to attend college at my alma mater. As a legacy, admission was guaranteed. Yet he acted out, and ran off to join the Navy instead. Fine, if he wanted to waste his life serving aboard smelly ships with the apes, up to him. The relationship has only worsened, the boy didn't even tell his boyfriend that his parents were still alive, until we showed up on the boyfriend's ship.
Recently his mother passed. I mourned her of course. For a month. Then I hit up Earth clubs to find a replacement. As you do. Well this angered my son. Said it was "inappropriate and man-whoreish". That my new piece was younger than he is. Which obviously, you pick them young. He has said he never wants to speak to me again, even threatened to move to another planet.
What do the esteemed experts of the Daystrom parenting institute advise? Is it possible to salvage this relationship?

G7 avoids explicitly mentioning warrants at end of summit but says Israel has to comply with all international law Italy said on Tuesday it was ready to respect its obligations concerning the International Criminal Court’s warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant, but that clarity was needed on how it would work in Netanyahu’s case.
“We always apply the obligations but we have to understand what the obligations are,” Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani told a news conference on Tuesday, saying it was not clear whether high state officials enjoyed immunity from prosecution.
He added that “Netanyahu would never go to a country where he can be arrested,” and that “the arrest of Netanyahu is unfeasible, at least as long as he is prime minister.”
The ICC warrants also sparked tension within Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s coalition.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said Rome would have to abide by its obligations and arrest Netanyahu if he came to Italy, while Matteo Salvini — the leader of the coalition League party — said the Israeli leader would be welcome in the country.
A joint statement of Group of Seven foreign ministers on Tuesday avoided mentioning the ICC’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu, despite an effort by the Italian hosts to find a common position on it.
Italy, which currently chairs the G7, said on Monday it wanted to try to forge a common position about the warrant at a two-day meeting it hosted in the spa town of Fiuggi, which ended on Tuesday.
The final statement did not explicitly mention the ICC or the warrants but said Israel, in exercising its right to defend itself, “must fully comply with its obligations under international law in all circumstances, including international humanitarian law.”
“We reiterate our commitment to International Humanitarian Law and will comply with our respective obligations,” the statement added, stressing “that there can be no equivalence between the terrorist group Hamas and the State of Israel.”
The G7 meeting of foreign ministers, the last to take place during the Biden administration, was dominated by the wars in Gaza and Lebanon. Ministers were heartened by indications that a ceasefire was in the offing between Israel and Hezbollah.
“We are tracking this very closely. I hope and believe we can get this over the finish line,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told a G7 briefing.
Last week, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former defense minister Gallant — as well as Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif, who Israel says was killed by an IDF strike in Gaza in July — for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza conflict.
The move was strongly criticized by the United States, which is not a party to the ICC and has said it will not comply with the warrants, but other states including Britain and Italy did not rule out that they could make an arrest if Netanyahu visited their countries.
Israel condemned the ICC decision as shameful and absurd while Hamas praised it as a step towards justice.
The war in Gaza broke out on October 7, 2023, with Hamas’s unprecedented attack on southern Israel, in which terrorists rampaged through civilian communities and IDF bases, murdering some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking 251 hostages.
In response, Israel launched a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip with the proclaimed objectives of dismantling Hamas and getting the hostages back.
The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 44,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 18,000 combatants in battle as of November and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7.
Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.
Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip stands at 380. The toll includes a police officer killed in a hostage rescue mission and a Defense Ministry civilian contractor.

"Might as well call it the Pearson VUE Anxiety Center" is what my test proctor said when I handed her my ID with a shaky hand haha.
I am thrilled. Especially because I am new to PMI's philosophies and Project Management in general, and was concerned that my studying was weak in Business Analysis. Here's what I studied and some tips. I acknowledge that my studying was overkill... hopefully this helps someone streamline their resources a bit better than I did.
What it cost me & how I used my resources:
- PDUs - I took CAPM Exam Prep Course by TIA Education Group/Andrew Ramdayal on Udemy. Do not pay the $119 list price for it - I paid $19, but it's on sale for Black Friday for $12.99.
- Watched at 1.5x speed and took notes on absolutely everything, as typing helps me remember things. I also was able to format it in a way that made sense to me. Is this class perfect? Not at all. But, it covered the core concepts and checked the PDU box.
- Pocket Prep - Signed up for monthly Professional Pocket Prep at $20.99, then immediately canceled it so it wont auto-renew, giving myself 30 days to complete all the quizzes.
- I used Pocket Prep's Level Up Quiz feature, which gives you short domain-specific quizzes that increase in difficulty as you successfully complete them. When I missed questions, I read the explanations closely and wrote down the book references listed at the bottom. As I progressed in topics, I discovered more things I needed to learn (there were a number of model types, agile frameworks and business analyst subjects that were not covered well in the Udemy course, including Gantt charts). I completed all 1,100 questions on Pocket Prep. You do not need to take all of the PP questions, but it helped me feel ready.
- PMBOK Guide Seventh Edition - $76. Also bought some sticky notes to make the sections easier to reference.
- Skimmed the PMBOK guide cover-to-cover and compared it to my Udemy notes. This was extremely helpful. Where there were gaps, I filled in my notes.
- Project Management: Practice Questions for the CAPM Exam by Peter Landini - $20
- This book has a page at the back with a website listed where you can access quizzes and a full practice exam. I took most of them. It was really helpful to see questions worded differently than Pocket Prep's style. IMO, Landini's question formats were more similar to the actual exam format.
- YouTube - Free. I used YouTube for better instruction in topics that the Udemy course was really lacking in, especially Critical Path Method.
- LinkedIn Learning - I found most "what to expect on the exam" videos to be redundant, but this class has a section that was incredibly insightful; Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Exam Tips has a section of practice questions, and the instructor walks through examples of question types - definition, application, situational, communication channels, EMV, network diagram, and EVM. I especially like that he shares some examples of how a question might seem complicated or like it requires a calculation, but it's actually very straight forward. I highly recommend watching this or similar video content to get a feel for the mindset you need while taking the exam, and how to dissect questions that feel complex.
- Podcasts - Something that helps me learn is repetition and listening, so I listened to "49 Processes (Like & Share to help others) PMP and CAPM exam" (link goes to Apple Podcasts) while out on a run the week of my exam. It's a bit dry, but hearing someone talk through all of the processes helped get them cemented in my mind.
- Test fee - I found a discount code in this subreddit, reducing the cost to $175.
- A little bit of my sanity. I put all my energy into studying from morning to night for about 2 weeks straight. Definitely not necessary to pass, but it worked for me.
- Memorize the EVM formulas. Just keep repeating them until they're burned into your brain. Write them down as soon as your exam begins so you can easily reference them during the exam.
- Use the process of elimination. If you know an answer is incorrect, strike it out. If you have to go back to review a question, you'll see which answers you already determined were wrong.
- Use the CAPM ECO (Examination Content Outline) found on the PMI website as a study checklist. This breaks down the four test domains into a number of tasks/bullet points of concepts you should know. It's truly a blueprint for the exam!
- This exam wants to ensure that you understand the concepts of project management and how they work together, not that you memorized every single thing in the PMBOK. Because of this, I recommend that you use multiple resources so you can hear different ways of explaining concepts, and get used to different instructors using different terminology ("traditional" vs "predictive," for example).
- Take the 10-minute break. At minimum, get some water and stretch a bit.
- Watch the clock closely and budget your time. I used all but 2 minutes of the 3 hour allotment.

Earlier this week, I purchased a used vehicle. I guess shame on me for not confirming before I purchased it, but learned after I had already written the check and signed the papers that it only came with one key fob. Of course, when I brought it to the salesman's attention, he said he would have a key guy coming to the dealership later this week and he would give me a a great price. The more I'm thinking about it, the more pissed off I am. It's been awhile since I bought a used car, but the last three used vehicles I purchased came with two keys and often a valet key. Is this common practice to not disclose a vehicle only has one key? Is it common for used vehicles nowaday to only come with one key? Am I being unreasonable for being pissed off?
