I recently started on SNAP, and I noticed something puzzling. SNAP will pay for ground coffee, and bottled coffee. SNAP will pay for bottled tea. SNAP will pay for water. SNAP will not pay for tea bags. This makes zero sense to me, as coffee grounds are used at home to prepare coffee in the same way that tea bags are used at home to prepare tea.
My question is why coffee grounds but not tea bags?
The only thing I can think of is that with coffee, I still have to buy a paper filter which is not covered by SNAP, whereas the tea bag comes with a built-in filter.

So a Few months ago, a cat delivered five babies in my home. For some context, I love in hyderabad, India, and my parents hate cats. My dad blames loss in business on the newborn kittens. I personally like cats, and find them cute. So, long story short, now two of the ginger female (I think) kittens stay in my home. They are left outside and not allowed inside the doors. They hunt and eat on their own, but just an occasional cyrd rice from my gran. But now that it's winter, I'm afraid that the low temps might kill those babies. It gets pretty cold here, 15 to 16 degrees celcius. I'm not an earning member and don't have much say in the family's decisions. How can I protect them?

Hi all,
I'm an international student in Berlin finishing my MA thesis at Freie Universität. My thesis is in the field of literary linguistics, so it's been very hard for me to find any kind of supervisor willing to take me on. When I discovered that the founder of the International Journal of Literary Linguistics is actually teaching at JGU, I knew I had to give it a shot!
While I'm nowhere near ready to apply for anything, I do know a few things:
- It's almost impossible for me to get into a research group or another type of structured doctorate program with my thesis topic. I'm very okay getting a full-time job (I currently have a Werkstudent job at a good position) and joining as an individual. I know this puts me in a hit-or-miss situation with impressing the professor enough to take me on, but it is what it is.
- Likewise, I've set up a family with their own support network in Berlin. Moving to Mainz for 3-5 years, finding a new job, a new apartment, etc. would be almost impossible. I've heard that individual doctorates have a lot more freedom to work remotely or commute to their advisor (even if the process itself is WAY more difficult) and this seems like a good compromise to me.
