I (30s F) have been friends with someone since college. She’s always been a bit difficult, but I stood by her, supporting her emotionally and even financially through tough times. I justified her actions until recently, when her behavior crossed a line.
I moved to Europe for a dream job but had to return home after my parents got sick and the move didn’t work out. Around the same time, she went through financial struggles, losing two jobs, a mortgage crisis, and a car loan. I gave her significant financial and emotional support, even paying her way to be in a mutual friend’s destination wedding (dress, travel, haimakeup) so she wouldn’t be excluded. She didn’t pay me back for over a year and had burned bridges with most of her other friends by then.
I’ve also supported her through issues with her toxic mom, her father’s cancer diagnosis (while I was dealing with my dad’s cancer too), and other challenges. But when I was at my lowest, after the Europe situation, she avoided me. She claimed she’d recommend me for a job but later admitted she told her manager she didn’t want me “depending on her.” When I asked to stay at her place for a few days after a tough argument with my mom, she agreed—only to cancel last minute and offer therapy sessions instead.
This is the same person who once got upset that I spent New Year’s with other friends instead of inviting her (I didn’t because I knew she couldn’t afford it). Her response? “You could’ve paid for me.”
Now that I’ve recovered and landed a stable job again, she hasn’t reached out in months. She’s only hanging out with people who are “on top” in life. She used to complain that people abandoned her during her struggles, but now she’s doing the same to me.
We have a mutual friend I’d like to keep, so cutting her off entirely feels tricky. But her gaslighting and self-serving behavior have made it clear that maintaining distance is best.
What would you do with someone like this?

Hello! I am an American with VERY Amazigh name. My father is Kabyle and he lives in Paris while I stay in Los Angeles. I am half Black and half Amazigh and it leads to some interesting conundrums. I have found a camaraderie in the Touareg peoples despite not fully knowing their story. As a Black American I identify with their history to some degree. My feelings came to a head when I was out and about in LA at a farmers market and met a white man wearing a ton of Amazigh jewelery because it "transports him to a fantasy world" or something annoying like that. I decided that I should finally stop holding back and purchased a beautiful Touareg Agadez cross. I wear it daily and have put a lot of energy into consciously wearing it, however I worry that this jewelry is not for people like me. I have never been to the Sahara and I have yet to ever knowingly meet a Touareg person despite looking like one myself. I don't know how I should feel. Is it strange to identify with these people because I look like them and share some historical themes? Am I guilty for being half Kabyle and also American?

That time of the year again where the clothes horse has become a permanent freeloading lodger. Plus, being a tiny apartment, his heavy breathing dehumidifier mate usually tags along. Don't think I can deal with it for another 6 months.
Have a spot for a dryer but having difficulty convincing the other half that decent air pump ones (looking at Bosch series 4) cost a fraction of traditional condensers. One caveat is it'll be in an uninsulated area (averaging 8-9c during recent 0 weather) but specs seem to say down to 5 is ok. Worth my while?

First baby is due soon and looking at options for them
JISA is great but I’ve always worried that at 18 there is a risk the money could be wasted (don’t know if you saw the post about the 18 year old spending his on a Lamborghini…)
I’ve always been fairrrrly financially responsible but if someone gave me 20 grand at 18 almost certainty not all of that would have been as spent as responsibly as it would have been if I’d got it at age 25
I max out both mine and my spouses’ ISA every year as I’m self employed and save my tax savings in it (unless there is a better way to do this??)
Any other option? Hope my kid has his head screwed on or in some way influence the JISA going straight into a LISA at age 18?

Have a Pixel 6 running latest build of Android 15. Bought a 2nd generation Nest Mini. Google Home stated that in order to set-up the Mini, Device Utility app needs to be downloaded from Play store.
Message on Play store - 'this app isn't available for your device because it was made for an older version of Android'.
