2024.11.27 21:30 Foulmouth232 Pokemon GO doesn't reward effort, skill, improvement or grind in almost any way
...And that's pretty sad.
Every piece of content in this game is mindlessly easy, and every piece of content can be completed on the day of installing the game if there are enough players, aside from stuff like completing the dex, that you'll never be able to do anyways due to how new releases are gatekept. At the same time, no matter how much you invest your life into the game, you can't complete all the content that a total noob can, if you live in the wrong place.
The challenge does not come from the content being hard, but having other people present and the scheduling of your calendar around the events. If you can tick those two boxes, the game requires almost zero effort or thought (aside from PvP, we'll get there later). Grinding for Candy, Stardust or Shinies is also undermined regularly, when we get events like Tours, Fests, CDs and the new Wild Area, that hands out everything in a matter of hours. Why grind for days, weeks or months, when you can open the game during a certain time window and rake in all the goods and more than you would've got from grinding?
The game simply lacks any incentive for investing time or effort in it most of the time. There is no mid or endgame content that has any requirements for the player when it comes to skill, knowledge, effort or time investment. Any gym can be taken down pretty effortlessly alone. Any raid can be completed at any level, if there are enough people. At no point does the game require or reward the player for getting stronger or better.
And at the same time, the game director is worried about new players not catching up. In an interview in the spring, he said that releasing level 60, for example, would be problematic because new players would have so much work ahead of them, and that they'd need to rework the level up system. Pretty silly, since being Level 50 doesn't benefit you in any way. You do get a cool jacket though. There is absolutely no need or benefit to get to max level, yet they feel that the playglund is too uneven.
But what about PvP? You do need to be skilled and put in serious time and effort to reach the Legend rank?
This is true. But what do you get from it? A few cosmetics and that's it. The rewards that have an actual effect on the gameplay are almost exactly same, regardless of the rank or ELO rating of a player. The only differences are a very, very minor increase in the reward Stardust and a slightly larger encounter reward pool. a Legend player gets the same amount of resources from GBL as a total noob, due to how the matchmaking works and assuming both of them are playing as intended (not tanking).
So once again, why even get good when there is no incentive or benefit to it?

I am just looking at buying a used laptop today. It is an Asus zenbook. 14x OLED ux 5400 EG. With 16 GB of RAM and an 11th gen i7 processor at 2.8 GHz. Seems to look good from the few YouTube videos I found, but they were a few years old and I'm not really sure what the original value was. Used sale is 700 CAD$ (500 USD$). It looks to be in good condition with a trustworthy seller.

2024.11.27 21:30 pcbfs Dishwasher keeps getting the E4 error
We have a dishwasher that we installed two years ago and last week it got the E4 error. When I googled it it said that there's probably water in the pan that hit a switch that triggered the error. I pulled the dishwasher out and sure enough water came out from the bottom. After I put everything back in it started up no problem and the error went away.
Then on Saturday morning it happened again while we were making breakfast. As it was beeping I looked over at the garbage disposal that the dishwasher drains in to and I could see the water coming up to the top. I assumed that there was too much debris in the disposal and that the water was backing up into the hose and into the pan causing the error. After I fixed the error again we made sure to run the disposal before every load so that we didn't have to worry about water building up.
Then last night after running the disposal before running the dishwasher cycle it happened again. So now I don't think it's the disposal and I want to know what else I should potentially look at to try to fix the issue. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Me (below18f) and my boyfriend (below18m) (who is now my ex for an unrelated reason) as of last week had been dating for about four months when this occurred, but we had known each other for longer, about a year or so. This happened earlier this month when my parents were out of town and I snuck him over. This was the second time I had snuck him over. Him and I had both agreed prior that we did not want to have sex due to the risks after a conversation I had with him. I did however before the conversation asked if he would want to do that, which he said he didn't want to and I completely respected his decision. Each time we have had sexual encounters I have been extremely cautious about consent due to my boyfriends past where he was raped by one of my friends which had impacted me tremendously and I was mentally bothered for a long period of time.
That day when he had come over we had been off and on "dry humping" or having sex with clothes on. I would get on top of him. We had done this before multiple times. One time however I had gotten on top of him. One detail I should add is whenever he would be aroused he would get tired, which I was usually concerned about but it was normal and before we did anything I would ask multiple times if he wanted to do whatever we were doing. After we had been doing things for a while that day him and I resting I got on top of him again and asked him if it was okay multiple times. He was tired I assume now, but I thought he was aroused. I was uncontrollably crying for almost the time he was there. I told him that I didn't do anything. He stated he believed me and for a while we were okay.
A week or two later I made a huge mistake. I started to get worried I was pregnant even though it was almost impossible, I started to experience PMS which I mistook for symptoms. I have done this many times, where I would convince myself I am suffering from something or have a sickness or something is wrong. I thought that I had accidentally gotten ejaculate inside down there either by masturbating or by accident. He starts questioning me more about what happened that day because he said unless I did something when he was sleeping that it was impossible that I could be pregnant. I knew this, but i still continued to be worried, which also made him think more as to if I did fully assault him, which I unfortunately understand how bad that looked.
I am of course not pregnant. Due to this situation however and based on how worried I was, it made him believe me less and I understand why. I hate how it looks. He continued to ask me "Are you sure you didn't do anything?" and I have no way to prove that I didn't. Even when he was breaking up with me, he asked me that question one more time. The last thing I ever wanted to do was anything like this. I loved and still love my boyfriend more than anything. I would have frequent panic attacks picturing what my friend did to him and never wanted anything similar to ever come near him. He was the best thing that has happened to me so far. He was so respectful and kind to me till the very end. We loved and respected each other and I feel so sorry that I let this even look bad. I hate myself so much for it. I hate that I hurt the one person I didn't want anything bad to happen to. I hate that he probably will not ever fully know what happened. I hate that he loved me and I did that. I hurt him.

42-year-old guy here. I find that the older I get, the smaller my social circle gets. I am a father of four, and I know that I'm not exactly made of free time, but I feel like the problem is mainly that people don't want to invest themselves these days in developing deep friendships.
I don't know if it's a guy thing. I don't know if it's because I live in Los Angeles, and people are just superficial. I have no idea anymore. I always find myself putting in all the effort to maintain friendships, and it's frustrating.
I've tried being proactive and using Bumble BFF to make platonic friendships, but in the year and a half I've been on there, I have nothing to show for it. All the gay men have ulterior motives, and the conversations I have with straight guys usually peter out once they find a gal, and start dating again.
Any advice or insight would be great.

Update: I really appreciate everyone’s help so far, thank you!! I think I have it narrowed down to the Linnpower EVO MK-1 Lite, Backfire Ranger x5, or Isinwheel v10 but I’m stuck on the return policies and warranties.
Backfire and Isinwheel are both offering extended returns for the holidays through January 15 and 1 year warranty. With it being a gift, I obviously like the return option in case I’m way off base and he’s doesn’t actually want an eskateboard. And 1 year warranty seems like it would be helpful since it’s winter where we are and he won’t get to use it a ton until spring.
A lot of people seem really excited about the Linnpower and honestly, if they offered a return through 1/15/25 and 1 year warranty, I think I would go with that. Linnpower’s 6 month warranty will almost be up before he gets to use it. I could extend the warranty for another 6 months for $200 but then we’re over the price of the Backfire almost double the Isinwheel.
In your experience, how important is the warranty and ability to return? Could he resell it on the secondhand market if an eskateboard isn’t for him? How much have you used the warranty?
