2024.11.27 22:31 Biscuit_Kobold Please explain to me what I'm doing wrong - CQP vs. CBR Recording
Good day,
I'm relatively new to all of this but have spent countless hours going through threads and I've noticed a consistent opinion: H265 is typically better than NVENC H264 (Nvidia) and CQP is better than CBR for recording due to compression efficiency etc.
I am filming very dark, fast moving footage. It would serve to be that CBR, in this setting, should be better by it's description but I keep seeing information that even in this environment I am wrong.
Regardless of what I do with CQP I cannot get a decent render in low light environments without some heavy banding and at least mild artifacting. When uploaded to Youtube, these issues become increasingly evident.
Presently, to get the most consistent render possible, I am running 150,000 CBR rate. I know this is overkill, but I want as close to indistinguishable quality so that once I upload to Youtube after running through Davinci, I don't have horrid compression while keeping fluid range of motion and the closest to real blacks possible.
Can someone explain what I might be doing wrong? I have tried CQP in all ranges including 10 - 25. I've been told to include B-Frames, to record at the lowest speed, fastest speed, etc. Nothing I can produce ever comes close to the overall quality of CBR 150K with H264 NVENC.
I have attached my settings I am presently using. This is all with 4:2:0 sRGB. I have used Rec.709 and have found sRGB to more consistent with a majority of SDR games.
As an aside, for high motion is Psycho Visual Tuning worth using? I have a 3k series card and I keep being told I should, or should not - To me running tests, it only serves to damage visual quality, albeit minimally.
If you want some of the tests I can add them in the comments - I have run close to 100 now by this point with every variation of setting I could find online and so far only CBR 150,000K has been able to give me consistent results despite it's heavy load (which I wish I wouldn't need to have).
I also seem to be getting weird frame lag unless I set to integer FPS120. OBS stats don't show lost frames (or dropped due to encoding) but the footage seems slightly uneven and unnatural (when encoded at 60 frames) and seem to be more prone to frame stuttering (even though in game footage lacks this).
Surely I must be doing something wrong. Thanks for any time spent in response. Apologies if I'm missing any information needed for diagnosis, please let me know and I can upload stuff.

I (31m) live in Germany and the Indian community is growing here but it’s not as big as in the English speaking countries.
I wonder how do I go about my AM process as I don’t want to limit myself to the women out here but it also becomes difficult (and quite expensive) to visit India often to meet a potential match and I don’t want to rely entirely on my parents or just virtual interactions to decide about a partner. I have friends who did everything virtually and met the girl/guy few days before marriage in India after it’s been finalised. They have been happy marriages but I don’t want to take a chance without knowing someone in person.
Those who are going through AM or had a successful AM while living abroad - How did you navigate the process? Could you share your experiences?

I had a Rheem 80-gallon Performance Platinum HPWH installed in June, and I've been trying to find the right settings and schedule for my family. I want hot water when I need it, which I why I sized up to the 80-gallon tank for a family of four. I had been scheduling the temperature to be higher in the morning, a little lower throughout the day, and higher in the evening. Our electricity is cheapest from midnight to 8AM, so I start raising the temp again through 8 AM. We've been running out of hot water pretty fast, so for the last few days, I just set it at 140 degrees F and Heat Pump mode all day every day. I figured if the water was too hot at our sinks, I would install a thermostatic mixing valve. The showers are single lever faucets that prevent scalding. It takes about an hour at the current ambient temps (autumn in the northeast US) for the hot water to reheat each third of the way to full again.
To my surprise, even from a full tank of 140 deg. water, we still run out of hot water within ten minutes or so of starting a shower. I admit the shower heads aren't low flow, but the math simply doesn't add up. So where am I going wrong? (Or where is the lie?) Is the tank not 80 gallons of hot water if I'm only in Heat Pump mode? Is the water not really 140 when it leaves the tank? What settings might I adjust to get more from a tank?
I'm trying to save money and energy, which is why I only use Heat Pump mode. Most of the time, I don't mind a slow reheat time, but would a different mode give me more available hot water? I didn't install a gigantic tank to run out of water at every shower. Thanks for your help.

So I'm sure these questions have been answered across different posts but I would like to know a couple specific things:
I only want to mod my switch so I can access my Pokémon Violet and Scarlet save data. I own both copies PHYSICALLY AND LEGALLY but I still would like to be able to dump the save data, mod it with PKHEX and then reupload it. I was able to do this with my 3DS and I have a legit version of Moon that I use. I've had no problems with that.
So is there a way I can just edit save data and not worry about all the other fancy modding stuff? I also DO NOT want to download any pirated games, as that just adds unnecessary risk to what I'm trying to do.

Hey. im preparing Tuning System for new Strike Kirishima. I got the Student Uniform Skin which has decent Sets. I would consider to make tuning with the following Sets. Which combination would you recommend here in the pics? Blue/Yellow for Super Tuning or Purple/Blue? Blue almost no brainer because of GP sucker but i cant decide between Purple for example HP suckeDabi/Afo or Yellow for Mt. Lady/Almight. The Purple/Blue one has better passives tho i could go for more Beta/Alpha cooldowns. the other one has bad Colors (to many Greens).
