 | During the time I left my job, I decided to wake up early and sleep early, aligning myself with the rhythm of nature. I’ve always loved how morning light fills the house, unlike my mom, who keeps the windows and curtains tightly shut to block even the tiniest sliver of sunlight. One morning, I woke up feeling refreshed, opened my laptop, and started searching for a job that would accept me as I am, without treating my feminine self expression as a crime. I looked away from the laptop and saw the most beautiful thing: a rainbow , created by sunlight peeking through a small crack in the curtains my mom always keeps closed. I was overjoyed and snapped a picture of it. It reminded me of that scene in The Lord of the Rings when Sam and Frodo, lost in Mordor’s darkness, suddenly see the sunlight shining on the crown of the King of Gondor’s statue. But just like in the movie, the sunlight didn’t last long, and the clouds returned, drowning everything in gloom again. The same thing happened in our home. The next day, the crack in the curtain was gone ,covered up to keep my mom from feeling uncomfortable. The house became dark again, and so did I. I went back to sleeping during the day, staying up all night, and stopped searching for a job. Maybe hope lies in another window, one that stays open for good. I've been trying for months to feel more comfortable with social interaction but it doesn't get easier. I'm probably a little older than most people here and yet I feel like it's only been getting worse with time. I can't even say "hi" to someone without my voice shaking. I went to pay for something and I said "hi, how are you?" and the clerk responded with "card or cash?" and I said "good!" and felt humiliated. I went to tell a coworker "happy thankgiving" but I froze and forgot what the correct expression was, and I ended up saying "good thanksgiving". Things like this happen to me daily and I wish I could just interact like a normal person.
It seems like it should be so easy, being able to say hi and have a regular conversation. But something happens when I start talking. I get so nervous and easily flustered and say the wrong thing and make a mess of the conversation without even trying. And it doesn't matter how many times I try to practice it.

 | Hey all! Like many others due to the game, I am new to the hobby. After some lore dives, I really enjoyed the Salamanders. I went to a new player event at the closest Warhammer store and I had a blast. Got to watch a game, did a paint demo and picked up some models, paints and tools. After scouring youtube for style ideas and many failed attempts at NMM, I found this "weathered and battle worn" sponge stippling technique. Technically, this isn't my first model because of the paint demo but this is my first from start to finish. At first, I wasn't enjoying how it was turning out. I love what the team of Queen Charlotte handled George's mental instability in Queen Charlotte. Granted, it's not an accurate or even a perfect depiction of what would be dementia or bipolar disorder (possibly schizophrenia) but it was at least an insight into how they handled (except for the electroshock therapy which wouldn't be invented for another 160 years but I digress).
So that got me thinking... Bridgerton has firmly steered clear from bringing in any deep elements such as mental illness in their world. They have a grand opportunity to highlight mental illness and disorders in seasons 5 and 6.
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ THE BOOKS
For Eloise's season, Marina in the books went through post partum depression (after the birth of the twins) and chronic depression and heartbreak (after the death of George) but obviously they didn't have a name for what she went through besides melancholy but any reader would know what was happening and it was because of her mental state that led to her... Dot. Dot. Dot.
I could also see them touching on Phillip's childhood trauma and how that led to him being who he is today. Perhaps he still has PTSD.
For Francescas season, they could highlight grief and how the trauma of grief has affected Francescas emotional and mental wellbeing. And the depression she faced from not being able to bear children of her own.
I have no confidence that the production will actually handle these stories with the necessary care they should bc they think this is just a silly romance show and nobody wants to see such depressing shit.
But I think it would be very beautiful to show the unpretty and unglamorous side of being in society in the Regency period.
But I dont see them adapting exactly what's on the page for Eloise's season (there needs to be many changes for that book to work on the show honestly). Partly because of Marinas actress who went through a depressive state herself but she did say repeatedly that she'd like to return so maybe she will.
We'll have to wait and see.

So I’m kinda ignorant on Bishop and Cable, but my base understanding is that Bishop comes from a future where Mutants are dominant while Cable comes from one where they’re oppressed. Assuming they work in the logic of something prevents their futures from happening, they cease to exist, do these two run in the risk of that? Like does Bishop have to be careful he doesn’t accidentally kill Scott’s son by saving the wrong guy?

I am at almost 3 months without any weed at all. Before that I was a very heavy smoker smoking I swear like 50 bong bowls every day because my tolerance was so high. Life is really different now…
The first month was the hardest. I had a lot of physical and mental symptoms including night sweats, GI problems, anxiety, vivid nightmares, su*cidal thoughts, insomnia, etc, etc. After I successfully went 1 month without any weed I bought myself a cake. 🩷 Then it started to get easier.
During my second month I had a few urges and almost slipped a few times but I reminded myself of how hard the first month was and how I didn’t want to go through that again, also reached out to friends for support, etc.
Now I realize the longer I go without weed, the easier it is. I never want to go back. These days I have so much more energy, I can think more clearly, I’ve lost weight, I’m saving a lot of money, I have new hobbies and improved relationships, my lungs feel 1000x better, I rarely miss work when I used to all the time due to low motivation/apathy, there are sooo many benefits that are way more valuable to me than getting high.
For me, I know that if I were to smoke even 1 joint I could fall right back into my old habits, so I will never have it again. I used to be scared of that but now I’m so happy with that. Life really feels so much brighter.
Positives: I still have the memories I made smoking with friends and goofing around, those aren’t gone. I can empathize with weed addiction and better support others on their own recovery journeys.
The sober future is bright. I wish everyone here the best. 🩷
