Bought some more jewelry at an auction. Hoping to estimate the opals As the title says, I got this opal broach in an auction of vintage men’s jewelry. They are all black opals. The three large are 12mm x 6.85 mm, the two small are 7.35 x 6.25. Unfortunately, this is the only pic I have, no videos, until I pick it up. I want to estimate the metal value (platinum and rose gold) by knowing the carat weight.
I’m also wondering what the experts guess the carat weight of cabochons these sizes might be? I’m guessing that because they are more common colors, they aren’t going to bring the really high prices, but if the cover what I paid, I’m happy.. I’d be curious on your thoughts on the opal values are.

I had my surgery 8/7/24, so it’s been a few months. The week before Halloween I got sick, my throat was all white and red and obviously hurt, and now a month later it’s still white and red and hurts but I’m not sick anymore. Is the surgery site infected? Or have I just been sick for a month?

2024.11.27 23:20 all_hailseitan 8 y/o GSD arthritis and anemia

Hello all,
I’m writing this while trying not to spiral so please bear with me. My goofy girl is an 8 year old German shepherd. Up until about 1 week ago, she was energetic, rambunctious, totally normal. Then I noticed she was looking a little lethargic and was slipping on our hard wood floors a lot. To the point where sometimes she would just lay down on the floor with her legs totally splayed uncomfortably, as if she had exerted too much energy and needed to rest. Her gait looked a little off regardless of the flooring she was walking on. My biggest fear had always been that she would eventually suffer hip dysplasia, so that’s where my mind went. I took her into the vet and got x-rays. Vet says definitely arthritis, but he was expecting worse. He did a full blood panel and prescribed gabapentin for nerve pain. HERE IS WHERE I’M SPIRALING. He told me her red blood cell count was 20% which means she is anemic. When I asked him what the cause of that could be he simply said something along the lines of “internal blood loss” and I was like ooookay? Sounds bad, but you’re not too concerned so I guess I’m not. So he sent us on our way with gabapentin and a recheck in ten days.
The very next day, the clinic called to check on my girl, and they asked if I could come in the following day to recheck her blood. This is where I got the feeling that this could possibly be more serious than I originally thought. So I scheduled the recheck and consulted Doctor Google, as bad as I know that is. So now in my mind it is the worst case scenario and I’m thinking she definitely has cancer. Well we went today to get her blood rechecked and her levels were up to 22%. I’m not sure if that’s a good enough improvement or not for 2 days. But regardless I’m still constantly on the verge of a panic attack and telling myself I probably won’t have much time with her. They prescribed prednisone considering I hadn’t really seen a change in her yet on the gaba. I still feel as though he is treating her arthritis primarily and not as concerned about the blood findings. Idk maybe I’m just being neurotic.
Anyway, I guess I’m really just putting this out there to see if there is anyone who has dealt with something similar or has more knowledge in this area. I feel so uncertain about what I can expect from these treatments and my heart is aching from the idea of losing my first baby.

Again im SO SORRY for posting so much
I have recently found out that I have all the symptoms of trans ocd (aswell as normal ocd) IE: not being able to accept no or yes as the answer to the question am i trans, trying to find evidence and prove that I am or am not, constantly thinking about it.
More details: I remember wishing I was a girl for the first time when I was around 11 or 10 maybe 13, and I have always for as long as I remember hated myself. I first thought I was trans in july maybe june when the thought just appeared in my head one day about how I want to be a girl, and I cried about it for some reason, I basically accepted it and took it as truth for the entire summer, I shaved my legs, painted my toes, and tried to hide those things from my family. Then in September I started doubting myself every day until eventually accepting it then repeating that cycle every day. Then on the 27th I had my school dance which made me really anxious and I developed my teeth chattering from seeing women in dresses or even thinking about being trans. Then in october I came out to my mom, she did not think that I was but then accepted it a few weeks later. Then during those few weeks I found that self harm helped me calm down and distract myself from the girls in my class and how envious I was of them. My mom found out I was doing that a week later so i stopped because I didnt want her to get sad about it again. Then my mom bought me some feminine socks and a sweatshirt along with leggings, which I like all of them (except for the sweatshirt). Then we went to the doctor where I made the mistake of mentioning my suicidial thoughts and was promptly sent to the emergency room which then sent me to a therapy place which then sent me to a childrens therapy place. (where I still am). But this whole time I feel as though Im lying to myself, im not really trans and the signs such as getting anxious when seeing girls are literally me forcing myself to because it feels like a concious realization of "oh wait im supposed to be saddened by this". And other femine things like wearing a dress or doing makeup dont really seem appealing to me as often anymore. Like sure it may be neat but im also afraid of what I would look like. I used to get very excited by the idea of wearing girls clothes but now im indifferent. im also indifferent about mens clothes, except for underwear sometimes. Even though what im typing right now is the truth in my mind as im typing this the word "Liar" is just repeating over and over.

I’m running my first ever half marathon on December 14th! Weather looks like it might be around mid 60’s.
I’ve been training with a vest during longer runs (anything over an hour) and when I don’t wear my vest, I use a handheld. This perimenopausal 39 year old really likes having water (usually with electrolytes) available no matter the distance.
It will probably take me around 2 hours and 20mins to finish the HM (I’m slow but trying my best!) I’m undecided about wearing a vest.
The race doesn’t haven’t any rules about vest and looks like hydration stations are set up about every mile and a half through mile 11. Any tips? Have you done a HM with or without a vest?
