2024.11.28 01:35 floweryconfusion AITA for refusing handouts?
I (18F) am poor. I'm not going to sugarcoat that because there's not really any point. I live with my mom and she would rather spend money on drugs than food for the house or sometimes even heating. It's a hellish way to live, but I manage. I would get a job but theater rehearsals keep me late after school and I don't have a car.
The counselor called me into his office last week before fall break started. He pushed me a backpack. When I opened it it was full of food donations. I don't know how the hell he found out about my situation, but I don't want handouts. I told him that I wasn't going to take it. I would rather starve than be pitied.
We went back and forth for a while. He basically begged me. I argued that I didn't want it and eventually stormed out of his office. I complained to my boyfriend about the incident, and instead of being supportive like he should have, he turned on me. He told me I was a total idiot and that I needed to get off my high horse and go apologize and ask for the food. Apparently he hadn't told me yet, but he's visiting family in another state for thanksgiving and wouldn't be around for me. We argued about it for the rest of the day and I didn't go back to applogize to the counselor.
He called me today and asked me how I was doing. I'm fine. I told him I was fine. I got some food from... other sources, but I didn't tell him that. He asked me if I regretted not taking the food. He had a high and mighty tone about his voice, like he wanted me to be hungry. I told him to shut up and ended the call. He told me he's not going to talk to me until he gets home "if you're going to be that way." AITA?

2024.11.28 01:35 PhanatiQ_ Bad Alternator Ball Bearing or Pulley
Car won’t start but will with the serpentine belt off. All pulley rotate but the alternator need a little pressure. I’m assuming it’s supposed to spin freely. I added some oil to the pulley but it didn’t make a difference. I got a new pulley but haven’t replaced it yet. When testing the rotation, it feels the same as the stock one. So now I’m thinking it’s the bearing. If it is the bearing, what’s the size?
I don’t want to get a whole new alternator if it’s just the bearing. Also don’t want to spend much.

 | Long story short i was replacing the timing chain cover and the rods holding the guide in place came out and i could not get the guide back in place. Im assuming i have to remove the tensioner to allow the guide to move freely, but i dont know if ive already messed up the timing or not and its probably better to play it safe no? So if i remove it how hard is it realistically to check the cam timing? Whats a good way to make sure no teeth are skipped if im removing the tensioner?
