I admire this subreddit for the support it provides others, but we need to have an uncomfortable conversation about pOCD and the way people here speak about it.
My personal story begins with being diagnosed with OCD at a young age. Later in life, with my eyes on marriage and children, I began experiencing a deep fear of secretly being/eventually becoming attracted to children. The implications that would have on my life, and the experiences it would take away from me, put me in a bind.
I had two choices: commit suicide or risk being a monster and hurting my future children. I didn’t know what pOCD was, all I knew was something wasn’t right and I feared the worst.
According to the IOCDF, common checking behaviors include: Checking you did not/will not harm others. Checking you did not/will not harm yourself. Checking that nothing terrible happened. Checking that you did not make a mistake. Checking parts of your physical condition or body.
Rather than committing suicide, I subconsciously followed the OCD pathway and I checked using illegal online content. Furthermore, participating in the OCD pathway made the fear worse, which resulted in additional incidents of checking.
I eventually discovered the pOCD subtype on YouTube, and cried hysteric tears of relief. The next day, I came to OCD to hear those in the community speak about their experience. My tears of relief turned into tears of terror.
People have come to this community sharing their experience with pOCD and, if their post references checking with pornography, this community has flooded the comment section with accusations of pedophilia.
I attempted suicide that night, and almost succeeded, because this community has decided they’re going to treat pOCD sufferers differently than every other subtype. I wonder how many pOCD sufferers were in my shoes and succeeded in suicide because of what they’ve seen in this community.
We need to do better. If this community can’t be understanding of all OCD types, including taboo types, how can we expect the general population to be understanding. pOCD checking behaviors are mentioned and acknowledged in peer reviewed articles, by clinicians and by peer support specialists across the internet. You don’t need to think it’s an okay thing to do, but you need to acknowledge the nature of OCD is universal, even when it comes to taboo topics, and that OCD can push someone to that point.
If we’re going to be a part of the solution, we can’t pick and choose which forms of OCD we’re going to acknowledge. Somewhere there is someone with pOCD contemplating suicide and, when they discover this group, they need to know that they’re not a monster and that having OCD is okay. We need to validate their checking behavior as OCD, just like we validate all the others, because it is no different.
Seventy two days ago I was found unresponsive by my roommate. I received CPR on the way to the hospital, had my heart restarted there and was put on a ventilator. I woke up after being in a coma for 13 days. Against the odds, I made it through my suicide attempt. Im afraid someone else won’t be so lucky, and that this community’s reaction to pOCD checking will be the blame. Please, do better.

I tried to appeal my termination due to going over points and it was upheld. I guess to Amazon me taking care of my grandma until she passed wasn't a valid reason. Is there anyone else I can talk to about this situation?

So my long time friend has had a tough and abusive childhood and shes always been a bit different in the way they behave and talk about things, though nothing concerning. Lately they’ve made a connection with ‘seams’ and how detrimental and restrictive they are to them, so now they are removing all the seams in their clothing, and bed. They’re walking around wearing shirts and skirts that are scraps of their clothing held together by knots, they refuse to wear shoes and instead tie pieces of leather around their feet in a way that looks like peasant shoes.
The furniture in their apartment has all been moved to one room, and the living room is just their bed with the fabric split open (to remove seams). They carry their keys loose because somehow a key ring has the same negative effect to them. Started taking cabinet doors off for some reason.
This behavior seems very compulsive to me and I try to stress to them how concerning it is and try to point them in a way to point out the illogical nature of these connections they are making. Any thing that goes against this they take as insulting and instantly shut me down, to the point where I feel like suggesting to them to consider help would be seen as insulting. Just wondering what could be causing this behavior and how I can try to talk them back into reality and seeking help.

Hey all, I was just curious if anyone else has noticed lag in the drive train “cartoon” animations since the latest 2024.43.30 update.
I have a 2025 Gen 2 R1T. In the previous software version I was having close to no lag and they looked great! Immediately after updating I have noticed it started to lag quite a bit. I did a hard reset and that seemed to improve the lag, but after an hour or so the lag returned.
Not a major issue, but curious if anyone else is seeing this or has a resolution?

I have searched through and seen a lot of recent posts regarding studying for the RE exam, and I want to share how I recently passed my CA broker's exam (it's the same material as the agent exam, just more questions and a higher percentage needed to pass) and spent no money at all in study material. If you absolutely need to pass on your first attempt for financial/life reasons, consider spending some money on a weekend crash course like RE Trainers (that's who I used when I was a starving 18 year old and needed to pass my agent exam on first try). There are other crash courses like that as well. But, if you are like me now and already have a full time job and want to try to pass without spending any money on studying, here is what worked for me. This will also be helpful for other state exams, but my experience is with CA. Note: I have no affiliation with any training company or YouTube channel at all.
Prep Agent is a YouTube channel of a guy who teaches national RE exam material. Something like 80% if the CA exam is actually national exam material. I watched his videos where he goes over a lot of practice questions and explains the answers. His personality is somewhat annoying, but the material itself was indeed helpful and many things he went over in his videos appeared on the exam.
Accredited Real Estate Schools, Inc is another YouTube channel of a company out of CA that teaches national and CA material. I watched nearly all of their videos. The most helpful were the longer ones going over practice questions. A lot of their material was on the exam as well.
Over the course of 3 Sundays, for about 2-3 hours, I watched these videos and typed notes of anything I got wrong. The list ended up being only like 3 pages of stuff by the end. Then, on test day, I drove to Sacramento (the only test area that was available thanks to COVID), which was a 4.5 hour drive for me. I played the audio of the important 45-60 minute practice question videos from both YouTube channels through my car speakers the entire drive again as a refresher. When I arrived at the test site, I read over my notes a few times for about 20 minutes, then walked in and took the exam. I passed on first try. If you aren't in a desperate situation and can handle the possibility of not passing the first time, I would highly consider trying it without spending so much money on study material. In CA, if you fail, you get your results immediately and can reschedule your next exam immediately. In that scenario, a paid course is probably a good idea. But it can be done without a paid course, just sayin! Hope this helps!

2024.11.28 03:00 Averfus-Crowthorne Act 3 was the biggest L of S3 thus far
The idea was gold, but the ball was dropped almost immediately. It cost of 3-4 days of content with the "Cleaning Arc" alone. I agreed with Sam that the new cast was AIDS, but just tossing them out one after the other was a waste considering all the time that was spent getting the house passable again. Sure, we got some funny moments with their exits and a little content along the way but I just don't think it was worth it. I think when they decided to abort the new cast they should have ramped it back up into full on Hell House and watch them drop off like flies, Frank returning would have been the nail in the new cast's coffin.
All of this is just my opinion obviously and I have no idea what the wiggers have cooking so we'll see how it all shakes out in the end. Whatever happens its been worth it to watch this season alongside a bunch of fellow weirdos, you guys are cool for the most part.
Lemme hear y'alls ideas on how this arc could have been handled better or tell me I'm a retard and Act 3 was all a kino tour de force.
