I have finally given in and started reading ACOTAR, and I'm angry with myself for not starting it sooner.
I am at the third trial, so no spoilers beyond that, please!
I already know who Feyre ends up with, so I kind of felt like the romance with Tamlin was a waste of time And I really don't like Tamlin very much anyway. And it totally can be because I am listening to the dramatized audiobook and I hate the voice of Tamlin. 🤷♀️
And for the record, the moment we meet Rhysand at the fire ceremony thing, I was absolutely in love. And his dickhead self as the story goes on makes me love him even harder. He is the OG Shadow Daddy. I drool whenever he's talking.
Still, I really liked the chemistry between Lucien and Feyre. I did love his voice in the dramatization, though, so that probably is why. But the genuine dislike of her and distrust and then she slowly wins him over is some kind of wonderful. Like really up my alley. I was ready for sparks to fly when Lucien comes to Feyre's cell to scold her for turning to Rhysand for help instead of trusting him to help me. I know it's not meant to be, but it's meant to be in my heart. I hate love triangles and don't like poly because I myself don't like sharing, but I be into that. She can have Lucien, Rhysand, and Tamlin, even better if they had each other, too. That's a direction I didn't expect to go 😅
Anyway, am I the only one who absolutely loves Lucien? Loves how their relationship develops?

I have long experience in a fairly niche area of my industry. I was laid off in January. I've been looking for a job but honestly, I can afford to be picky and there aren't a lot of jobs available right now. I'm the meantime, I've been doing some freelance work and I really enjoy that. The project I'm working on currently has a decent change of leading to a full-time job.
A few weeks ago, a recruiter who works for a staffing firm reached out to me about a job with a smaller but reputable company. It was a junior level job and the top of the salary range was less than half of what I'm looking for.
I thanked him for reaching out and told him that I was looking for something more senior, gave him my salary range, and told him to keep me in mind in the future.
He asked if I'd be willing to at least talk to the company and maybe they could offer me something different. I said I was willing to talk but reiterated that this job wasn't really what I was looking for. A few days later he called me back and said they weren't interested in talking to me after all. Ok whatever.
After a couple of weeks, he called me and said they changed their minds again and wanted to talk to me and had raised the salary. The new salary is still about half of what I'm looking for. He mentioned that they are pretty desperate to find someone with my skill set because they are about to launch a big product and they don't have experience with that scale of launch.
I really don't want this job. Even if the salary miraculously doubled, launch manager isn't interesting to me after being a senior executive.
But I'd like to float the idea of me taking them on as a consulting client for a few months and essentially telling them how to launch this product.
I feel like this recruiter has been kind of gate keeping and not connecting me directly to the company despite my asking for this several times. If I tell the recruiter my consulting idea, is there a chance he's not going to pass this on to the company? I'm guessing the staffing agency doesn't get paid if I don't take the full-time job.
I've looked on LinkedIn and I think I know who to reach out to at the company directly. But will it look bad if I circumvent the recruiter?

How do you get over the rage? My total past and future… obliterated. It’s like time has completely stopped. The world goes by as I become nothing but a mere spectator in the booths, watching me, watching other people, like film reels unfurling before my eyes. How do you move on and think about anything else when your entire childhood and most of your existence has been nothing but a lie? When you lived under illusions and pretenses?
