2024.11.28 04:40 r00t_beer87 How can I be sure that I am truly seeking forgiveness when I repent, and not just taking God’s grace for granted?
I’d like to believe that I frequently repent, sometimes after I sin but mostly just whenever it feels appropriate. I say the Jesus Prayer and confess my sins to God (I do not YET have access to a priest or to confirmation into the church at all for that matter) but I feel like I sometimes take advantage of Repentance. Whether this is true or not, because I could obviously be paranoid, I still know that I love God and fear him, however sometimes I feel like I subconsciously don’t care about my sin, which I don’t think is true, but that idea still lives in the back of my mind.

I'm sure I'll have a lot of criticism with my post, specially because this is a Google community. But I just feel I need to vent my frustrations out and I'm happy to be proven wrong.
It's ironic to think that a company which used to have "Don't be evil" as their motto turned out to be one of the most evil companies of the current tech market, and a company that was among the best places to work nowadays is just another big company with a toxic overwork culture.
It's undeniable that Google helped shape the internet the way it is today, but IMHO the world would be a better place if Google ceased to exist.
1) They have the power to control the internet, and they make it really hard for other players to exist. Google is the standard search engine for over 90% of the internet users, Chrome is the standard browser. They basically have the power to show you what they want. People will say we have other options, but Google extends their power over them (Mozilla for example is funded by Google)
2) The amount of personal data that Google has surpasses many governments data about their citizens, over the years we got sold the idea of "free" products like Gmail, and the only thing we have to give in exchange is to allow Google to "scrape" our emails for better advertising. I know everyone is free to chose, but I just don't think people have enough knowledge or understand the extent of this to make an educated choice.
3) They are killing local economy and local business, they have a monopoly on online ads and control a majority of news people read online. Google can kill a local business purely based on bad reviews on Google Maps. And if you work with online sales and you get denied the "privilege" to be in Google Ads or Google Merchant Center this will put you in a really bad spot!
4) Their ethics is questionable, nowadays they are even working on secret projects in collaboration with the U.S. military and developing a censored search engine for China. "don't be evil"
5) We became too dependant on Google, and they are simply not reliable or predictable. They create and kill services like if it was nothing. "Killed by Google" is a great website with many services that Google sold us, just to kill that after... I know big companies are free to terminate a service that is not profitable, but the amount of times Google do it is converning.

Dude was writing it for a good several month back in august, and I’ve been off of Reddit for a bit, I come back, and I can’t find his work anymore. I was on part 33 last I left off on. He had some other works that I can’t remember the names for, but one of the Galowglas story’s first parts was titled something about Roses and thorns. Basically Convict regiment earns/pats off their sentence, and are treated like actual soldiers after that, they get taken to another planet which is very Gaelic themed, like the rest of the story, then the aliens they fought back on the previous planet show up to the new planet as well, and land a small attack force during a holiday in the spring. They repelled the attack, and after that I have no clue what happened. If anyone can help, lemme know.

36 with a Bachelor's and Master's. Neither degree has ever been of use to me. Job now isn't shit but it isn't special. The main reason I am considering putting myself through the hell of losing all the weight (I need a goal and I am within inches of using this as my goal) I would need to lose is for the insurance and the help with student loan reimbursement. I am not considering AD because I have 2 young children and one of them is autistic. I don't want to be unable to help with that for the extended time of a deployment. The time for basic and tech school wouldn't be all that unmanageable. I 100% regret not considering joining up when I was graduating high school, but in my defense, it was beat into me go to college get good job and the number of times I heard hey idiot we are at war in 2 different countries right now why would you risk it was enough to just follow the path.
Am I being dumb? Something I haven't found information about is how does your respective AFSC get used when in the reserve vs AD? Obviously you do it full time when AD but for reserve is there certain jobs you simply can't have? From looking at them it seems some wouldn't make sense for someone only doing the 1 weekend a month thing.

 | I am dealing with an incredibly difficult situation. This started happening about four months ago and it drove me insane; it slowed down for a short period and within the last two weeks it’s happening so much more and now I can’t shut it off at times. Basically, I will get word from friends and coworkers that my phone is not accepting calls, after looking into it and going to the call forwarding option in settings, I see that my calls were forwarded to a number (+685 5) as shown in the video below. When I don’t get word that my calls are forwarded, I can sometimes tell that it’s forwarded by the lagginess and just off-beat performance of my phone. It is definitely a weird one. Also, there is a notification/symbol for the call, forwarding on the top left of the iPhone - which only shows sometimes when the calls are forwarded. Quality purposes, I have never forwarded my phone number or messed with the option in my entire life and until discovering this. I have performed a factory reset. I am using an eSIM provided by T-Mobile and have been for around four years now. My iPhone is always updated to the current iOS. As you can see in the video, when I go to delete the number, it does not delete itself. I cannot turn it off of call forwarding sometimes, also shown in video. In frustration and desperation, I changed the call forwarding to my phone number. (I am not redacting my phone number from the example video because I want to show entirely what is going on.) Many of my friends and coworkers say that during phone calls weird things happen and I sound different sometimes - some people say that they hear a “tapping sound, sort of like a metronome” during my calls with them, but this last fact I do not humor as it is too far-fetched and can make one sound crazy. However, while definitely being a little creepy, the situation is incredibly frustrating and I need to find a fix.
