Hi! With the risk of not sounding too crazy, I am trying to get a really good understanding on the current living costs in Dubai. We relocated from Singapore to Australia and now considering to move to Dubai. Our goal is to save money whilst maintaining a good life and also travel twice per year.
My husband’s current employer have approved the transfer but will not cover the relocation cost (as it’s our choice to relocate) but a 40ft container from Australia is 40-50k. His salary will be around 70-75k/month plus a bonus, so total would be around 950k-1M annually. I would also like to find a job once our kids have settled. My expertise is in the marketing sector and I’m wondering how easy this would be for an expat female who does not speak Arabic.
We are looking at a 3-4 bedroom house in Arabian ranches area or close by or a nice condo with good facilities around JBR. I don’t want to spend a fortune on rent and would prefer to pay with 12 cheques if this is a possibility (I have friends there who pay over 500k/yr which is crazy to me). I’d like to be in a safe, clean community where there are parks, walking trails, pool and other amenities nearby.
We have 2 young school aged children who will attend a British international school (35k-40k/yr) and we would make do with one vehicle.
Do you think this salary is enough to be able to save a significant amount of money whilst still being able to travel and live comfortably? Is there anything I am missing? His employer will cover health insurance and I have budgeted 20-25k/mo for rent. I’ve allowed for kids co curricular activities and monthly groceries, but I’m having anxiety and feel like there’s something I’m missing. Am I overthinking things?

I know this may be an older topic to discuss, but how do people think about HK as a destination for international teachers now?
I know of a lot of people who went from HK to other places in Asia (Bangkok, Singapore, etc ...), but I never really found out why and I was wondering if the livability of the city and the buyung power of int. teacher salaries was going down.
Of course, the political situation there seems to be a bit difficult, but is it something that would affect someone in the next five or six years? Is HK still one of the best cities in Asia to work in if the salary matches the cost of living? What did you hate or love about living there, if you've lived there in the last three years or even longer?

I already have an appointment for my passport this January, but I'm still unsure what to prepare. These are all the documents that I have:
- Postal ID
- Digital National ID
- PSA (late registered)
- Supporting documents (expired NBI clearance, College Diploma, MDR)
Lastly, I expedited it, but I read that they don't have couriers. Will I still be able to get my passport after processing it? Thank you. Your replies will be a great help for an anxious girl like me.
