Hey everyone,
I would like to introduce you my latest repo!
What My Project Does: That is a local conversational rag on your files. Be honest, you can use this as a rag on-premises, cause it is build with docker, langchain, ollama, fastapi, hf All models download automatically, soon I'll add an ability to choose a model For now solution contains:
- Locally running Ollama (currently qwen-0.5b model hardcoded, soon you'll be able to choose a model from ollama registry)
- Local indexing (using sentence-transformer embedding model, you can switch to other model, but only sentence-transformers applied, also will be changed soon)
- Qdrant container running on your machine
- Reranker running locally (BAAI/bge-reranker-base currently hardcoded, but i will also add an ability to choose a reranker)
- Websocket based chat with saving history
- Simple chat UI written with React
- As a plus, you can use local rag with ChatGPT as a custom GPT, so you able to query your local data through official chatgpt web and mac os/ios app.
- You can deploy it as a RAG on-premises, all containers can work on CPU machines
- Model Context Protocol support
- Right now there is no incremental indexing or reindexing
- No selection for the models (will be added soon)
- Different environment support (cuda, mps, custom npu's)
Comparison: The closest competitor, though already far ahead (so I doubt I can truly compete with them), is LLM Studio.
For anyone interested in making local RAG or on-premises RAG as accessible as possible, you’re warmly invited to contribute!

2024.11.28 07:50 kronjohnson Inside track/BF ups and downs
Here’s the long and short: I went in thinking I’d buy some icon sockets and some lights and maybe a tool cart and and buy inside track to get bf early. They got restocked today. I checked online. Went and everything was gone again. I went ahead and just bought inside track anyways, I’ve been on the fence on it for 6 months anyways.
I’m a big harbor freight fan. I’ve looked at manufacturers and ran comparisons and due to my job being in electronics manufacturing I’m well aware of how things go in china. For the money HF is about as good as you can do for riding a balance. I’m planning to go Friday morning and be one of the first 10 for what I want.
I also need a 56” lower and upper to store my extensive tool collection of many manufacturers. If Milwaukee makes a 12v or 18v of it I probably have it. Since they started investing heavily in automotive applications I started using their stuff and phasing out my Bosch professional series items. So I’m hoping a discount on those comes down the road.
In general what can I expect as positives for my spend on 2 years of inside track? Can I at least expect to save enough to justify the $45? Is a 25% coupon like I hear about on here a real thing? 25% on my tool cabinet would make it attainable. I’m a semi retired electrical engineer who worked in the computer electronics world and retired and unexpectedly had a child at 40 years old. She’s 3 now and I’m feeling the financial burn and no one wants to hire me so my retirement is currently what I’ve got and thank god I was smart about it. I have however become an unwilling mechanic who is doing all the work on 3 cars. So my tool collection continues to grow as I take on things like timing belts and internals. Is it unrealistic to think I might save 20% or more on that cabinet? That alone would pay for more tools.
Thanks to this community. I’ve seen a lot of good commentary and opinions.
