The director of HTTYD3 has confirmed in an AMA on Reddit that Toothless, a night fury, is indeed the very last of his kind. He will meet a female light fury (a similar but non-identical species) in the upcoming sequel. Unlike toothless, she is not the last of her kind. The ultimate fate of the other night furies isn't described. So the battle ensued and at the end, Toothless had won the fight, making him the alpha. We know this because during the battle, the Bewilderbeast started to lose, and eventually completely lost his dragon army. Toothless had officially won the fight and this made him The King of Dragons. Toothless is intelligent enough to be self-aware, is aware of what he looks like, is able to determine that an abstract line drawing represents him (his self), and is socially aware enough to complement Hiccup by attempting to draw him (with a fair level of accuracy given that it is - I feel safe to assume - his first attempt to draw anything). Toothless is the only Night Fury seen thus far in the franchise, so his physical appearance is all that can be studied to learn about Night Fury anatomy. Other than that I don't believe there's a canon answer.

Just thought this might be fun to share here. I am getting into Astro photography with an actual telescope, but I realized the camera I purchased would work equally well on my night vision goggles. There's a lot of good reasons to stargaze with night vision goggles including the ability to really easily track satellites as well as seeing way, way more shooting stars and satellites generally. That said it was my gateway into this hobby I hope you enjoy these photos.
I basically frankensteined together a Wi-Fi telescope camera, a three times magnifier, and an ATN NVG7-3 night vision goggles 😂
