Hi everyone, I’m currently a Year 2 student in Temasek Polytechnic, pursuing the long studying route from NT -> Nitec -> Higher Nitec -> Polytechnic.
My GPA is 3.7+, and I’m aiming to apply for Business Analytics or Computer Science at NUS.
However, I’m worried I won’t meet the math requirements as I only have N-level (NT) math and not O-level math, which is the prerequisite for both courses....
While I know that TP offers the UPP math module as a pathway, I’ve hit a dead end because:
- To take UPP math, I need to complete Foundational UPP.
- To qualify for Foundational UPP, I need at least a pass in O-level math, which I don’t have.
This feels way too demoralising as after all the studying I'm still restricted by math :(

Thought dump: thought it might be interesting For some to hear how I use Astro Gate And a little creativity to make space travel feel smooth and organic as opposed to the vanilla game where you're using menus to travel and constantly interrupting the flow of the game.
for starters, Before I even get into Astro Gate itself, I want to touch on how I approach space travel in general ....
When I'm traveling to another system, say, from Alpha Centauri to Cheyenne, the first thing I do is look at the map and see the path that the game charts to the destination System. so in this case the path would be from Alpha Centauri to nerion to Cheyenne.
The path goes from Alpha Centauri, to the north east to narion, and then then further to the north east to Cheyenne.
So then I look at the current system I am in, in this case, alpha Centauri. I manually fly using Astro gate to the outermost planet in the direction I'm traveling (North east in this case as I'm headed to Narian ) and then make my grav jump from that outermost planet. I set my grav jump destination to be the southwest outermost planet in the Narian system. Basically the closest planet to where I'm jumping from.
Once the grav jump has finished and I'm at the south west most planet in the Narian system, I use Astro Gate to again manually fly all the way to the outermost planet in the direction I'm traveling. Then grav jump again etc repeat. I'm leapfrogging using astro Gate to manually fly to the outermost planets of each system and then jumping to the new system. Connecting the dots of my flight path.
By flying this way it feels like I'm navigating the journey properly and more organically.
It probably sounds like this takes a really long time but it does not. Traveling between two planets takes about 3 to 5 minutes. So to travel from Alpha Centauri to Cheyenne, I'm spending about 10-15 mins or whatever manually traveling with astro Gate. For me this amount of time feels about right compared to when I'm traveling in the open world in a typical Bethesda game. 10 to 15 minutes of walking or travel to a destination.
During the Astrogate travel time I'm carefully managing my ships speed and occasionally realigning my cursor so that I don't slingshot past the destination planet. It keeps me busy and not bored as I fly.
For me, this adds up to a very organic travel experience. 10 to 15 minutes of manual travel with minimal menu screens, managing my ship systems and occasionally checking my flightpath on the map to make sure I'm headed in the right direction. It feels awesome for my personal taste. Like I'm actually navigating a real spaceship.
A couple things I do for extra immersion...
When using Astro Gate to manually fly, you literally fly right up to the planet. You have to make sure you're flying at a slow enough speed to not whiz past it.
So what I do is that I always turn my supercruise speed down low and fly up really close to the planet. If there's a visible POI that I'm traveling to, like neon, I fly right up to and around the surface of planet until the icon is right underneath me and then I physically point my ship at the icon where it shows the land command. Like I'm flying right to the city from space. You can get fairly close to the surface of the planet. It feels really awesome to do this.
I also fly up super close to the planet when I want to pick a specific biome to land in, or if I'm going to scan the planet. I imagine I need to be fairly close to the planet to get a good scan.
It feels awesome to manually fly from planet to planet. Profoundly more organic and connected than the vanilla way of using the menu to travel.
Anyway, thought it might be interesting to read about one person's method for more immersive space travel. Would love to hear others' tips and tricks.

I have just received a 22L ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning shells and PCBs. I also have two concentrated products, one for plastic and one for PCBs. In the meantime, I came across this NASA document and a few reddit posts too but unfortunately a lot of the comments are deleted. This other technique for PCBs consisted of this:
- Place the gameboy PCB in a zipbag filled with isopropyl alcohol.
- Expel as much air as possible to prevent the creation of steam in the bag.
- Hang or place the bag in the tank of a cleaner filled only with water.
- Start the ultrasonic program.
- at what ideal temperature should I heat the tank? so that the PCBs don't spoil, and the Gameboys' labels don't get damaged.
- Is this method of cleaning PCBs more effective than simply putting them in water diluted with the appropriate product?
- My cleaner come with SWEEP+DEGAS function, DEGAS is used to clear all the air bubbles and SWEEP seems more adapted for small objects, should I use it or just keep the normal cleaning process?
