My (34m) fiancee (29f) just broke up with me. I am 6 months away from completing a masters degree at a top us school (I'm from Europe, same as my now ex). I have a very generous job offer in a city in the US I've never been in and know nobody in. I feel completely distraught and none of the things that may look promising to others feel like anything. Nothing has any color nor flavor if my partner is not there to live those things with me. It doesn't help that what pushed my partner away was precisely me, with all my doubts around first doing the masters program and where she would fit to now taking the offer and pushing her away from her ideal city (I did agree that she ultimately had the last word on where we lived but pushed hard to move to the US for at least a year). Now I don't have the woman I love and the prospects of living in this city (Denver) give me no excitement, but quite the opposite. The though of having to move alone, decide a neighbourhood and furnish my apartment are killing me, quite literally. I can't stop but think of what I would give to go back in time and do things SO differently. She was madly in love with me and I pushed her away, I made her stop loving me because of the anxiety I wa giving her. I am completely devastated and having continuous thought about how this life (or my life) is not worth living anymore. I am aware than breakups are tough but this just feels like a truly deadly blow to my life. I was already thinking about having kids and settling and now I'm not even back to square one. I'm not even living in the city I'm supposed to love in. Objectively I know I have a privileged position, I am also fortunate to be pretty good looking (if I may say so myself). But as I said, none of that matters at this point.
