Part of the reason for this may be that for some Americans Christmas consists only of the 25th, whilst in Britain, as one American ex-pat. put it to me, "Christmas in the UK seems like 4th July, GW's birthday, Thanksgiving, and American Christmas all rolled into one." For many in Britain it is a ten-day holiday (for some a ten-day booze up!). – The rest of many sentences may make clear as to whether you are referring to a past or future activity, but not always. Consider this Thanksgiving (in US, late November) dinner conversation. When did you rent the cabin? This summer. It was lovely in 2012? It will be lovely in 2013? Which preposition is to be used in a phrase like: An object is mounted [in/on/?] the ceiling in the car. and An object is mounted between the front windows [in/on/?] the ceiling. If it were now January, would "the coming year" be taken to mean this year? If it were November would "the coming year" refer to the next calendar year or a period running from November to November? I think you've got it about right. I would think in terms of the duties of the US President. The Constitution requires him to sign or veto bills, to appoint Supreme Court Justices, etc. These things are mandatory. Tradition requires him to do the annual Easter Egg Roll, to pardon a turkey at Thanksgiving, to give speeches all the time, etc. In contrast, Thanksgiving (the U.S. holiday) does not fall on this or that day of the week. It is on the third Thursday of November and falls on a different calendar day every year. So, for commemorative days with a set date, we say: X day is on [date: May 10th] and this year that falls on a Saturday. I grew up in the midwest—small town, rural area in the 1950's. The meal in the morning was always breakfast. The meal in the evening was always supper. The mid-day meal was either lunch (a light meal, maybe a sandwich and soup) or dinner (large, like Sunday Dinner or Thanksgiving dinner). We have the word "eve" to mean the day before a specific day, like a holiday. The day before Christmas is "Christmas Eve". Is there a word that can be used to concisely say "the day after Christm... Where does the expression "ta" come from? Wikipedia has only this to say: "ta!", slang, Exclam. Thank you! {Informal}, an expression of gratitude but no additional information or links about its We (Americans) would use 'at' for a festival, party, gathering, etc. For holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc., we can use 'on' for the day (or add the word 'day'), but we use 'at' for the period, allowing time for preparing gifts, food, and decorations, and for travel. –

My gf and I (19F) and (20M) had unprotected sex twice last October, but both times I didn't finish or didn't wait to come close to cumming. We always finished our sex with protection or if not we didn't finish at all.
22 days have passed after our unprotected sex. And she is a week late of her menstrual cycle. Which is odd because she has a regular cycle which she was taking track in the app for 3 years now.
on the 22nd day (1st week of the late cycle) I couldn't handle the stress so I encouraged her to take a pregnancy test(urine test) and she ended up taking two test at the same time, And they both came back as negative.
After a week have passed, which is the 2nd week of the late cycle. There is still no period. But she's telling me that she's already experiencing period cramps. So I asked her again to take a urine test. And she took the urine test twice again and they came back negative again(This is a week after the first urine test that we took).
She is recently stressed with her family and I think it's because of the sudden change of her lifestyle. Because she is a Nursing student and they always have been tired because of her nursing duties. And recently our semestral break took place. So is that the reason why her period is late. What do you guys think? We both don't want a baby.

Applied a week ago, well over 1900 tt; hundreds of: turbine, turbine PIC, 135 PIC, spotless checkride record, no issues on anything. No ATP, but had scheduled a CTP course on my dime and let them know as such.
Didn't even get a phone call, just an email that basically said TBNT. Wish I had some explanation but I know that's not how it works.
Guess I'll reapply in a few more hundred hours... or who knows...

I’m currently a college student without that much money saved up. I started taking running seriously about two months ago, running 3 to 4 times a week and averaging about 15 miles per week nowadays. I've been holding my shitty phone in my hands to track my mileage, pace, play music to my headphones and whatnot, which isn't that convenient. I want to get the Forerunner 255 Music to mostly play music and have a watch that actively suggests workouts to me while also not having to carry my phone around. My goal is to able to run a sub-3:30 marathon by next April From the posts I’ve read here, it seems like the Forerunner 255 is probably one of the best-value running watches Garmin offers which is why am considering it over the cheaper models. I know this subreddit is a bit biased, but do you guys think it's worth getting Forerunner 255 Music or should I just stick to using my phone?
