2024.11.28 16:49 VicVicci Learning Two Similar Languages Simultaneously?
Hello!
I am a native English speaker and I have a question about learning some languages.
MY DILEMMA:
For context, I have 4 years of intense (recent) high school French study, and two years of Czech self-studying.
So, I am really enjoying my experience and time learning Czech. Like a lot! It keeps my interest and I like how phonetic it is (especially compared to all my other experiences only being with French lol). The case system and declension are a little challenging though!
The language I would like to add to my mind is Russian. I think it would be a very useful and rewarding language to learn, I like the Cyrillic alphabet, I can already read/pronounce it.
My only concern is if getting to a higher level, there will be too much overlap? I know Czech is a West Slavic Language and Russian is an East Slavic Language, and the basics seem to be distinct enough, and obviously the writing systems won’t be a confusion.
BUT once getting into intermediate/advanced vocabulary, spoken, will there be significant overlap in the languages to the point where I will get confused?
I really like Russian, but I also do not want to mess up and cause confusion between both of my target languages whilst learning both.

Can anyone give me some insight into what it’s like learning two languages from the same language family at the same time?
Did you have any time times where you experienced difficulties?
How did you distinguish between them?
(+ if it was two Slavic languages!)
Would there be difficulties between Czech and Russian? (With a good foundation in Czech going into Russian)
Is there overlap at any level of vocabulary or any specific topics/fields?

So I recently came back to Vermintide 2. Last time I've played was right after release. After having a lot of fun with Darktide lately, I thought I might check it out again. So I read in one of the latest patch notes that if one of your heroes has a high enough level (35 (+35) was said to be enough), you'll only craft ilevel 300 items. So I ran screaming bell on champion with bots for the last couple of days like a mad man to reach that threshold. But low and behold, the first thing I crafted after reaching +35 was an ilevel 262 item. And the next one 281 and the one after that 277 and lastly an ilevel 297. So what is happening here? Something clearly isn't working. After 166,6 hours, I got my FIRST veteran item though. An ilevel 200 one from a veteran chest... What a sad day.

Can somebody explain why my Mac mini has written almost 3 GB from sleep mode from Wednesday 9PM to Thursday 5PM. It went from 760.9 GB to 763.8 GB. I believe this is what is called "TBW".
I got virtually nothing installed except for Battle-Net/WoW. During sleep mode, all programs and apps are closed and no notifications are enabled.
Is this standard fare for MacOS?

It is worse because I am currently a private candidate. This means that I am not in a typical campus environment. The study I am doing is not offered outside so I have to study privately.
Online revision notes and resources are so terrible in my opinion. Because on almost every website, resources are either limited (this means, just one or two lines of information when there is obviously more) or I must pay 1m fucking pounds to see all of the notes.
I cannot afford as I am under 18.
This course has no good text books but revision guides with very small information.
I just do not know what to fucking do at this point. I will definitely fail.
Only if the campus offers this, then I will know by the teachers the best resources as I will be given them.
Not to mention these days, Google's search engine is useless. What comes to the top page are just fake AI generated scam content that do not match with my search, not even with key words.
No one understands the issue. So its just me nagging on the internet; this is the only way to get this out of my system.
