2024.11.28 18:31 megabomberman2 Finding a suitable tree for a problem area
Hi folks,
I am seeking advice on a tree planting location/problem area in my back garden.
I am based in Ireland.
I have an area that I would like to plant a tree or a large shrub. The area is a few feet from an 8 foot high, east facing wall - so the base of the tree will get no sunlight from 7am to midday.
Our two storey house is approx 4 to 5 metres to the South of the tree, so it will only get about 2 to 3 hours of direct afternoon sunlight during the peak summer months. It will never get sun in the evening (4pm onwards).
My issue is that I could plant a very shade tolerate hedge/shrub like Ligustrum and it would grow away and screen above the wall in time.
However, I would like to take a risk and plant a flowering dogwood, perhaps a Kousa like Chinensis or Teutonia. If the Kousa was to grow to 10 feet, its canopy would get a good share of morning sun which should be ideal conditions for it given what I read.
Would a young Kousa of approx. 4 feet height slowly climb its way to suitable light conditions or would it likely struggle to a standstill?
Do you think planting an 8 foot Kousa, from a 30 litre pot would be the only realistic way it would succeed or could it find the environment challenging as well?
Should I just put the shade workhorse hedge down and forever grumble at the sight of it?
Any advice or success stories would be much appreciated.

 | According to the image below from HyperX's site I should be using USB for PC, but I prefer the 3.5mm, should I use it or not? - Pretty straightforward. The array can awlays be built using 3 elements.
- We will take two of those 3 elements to be equal to median that is provided as input.
- Now we have one element x such that the mean of the three elements = mean => (2 x median + x) / 3 = mean => x = 3 x mean - 2 x median
- This will always satisfy the constraints of the question.

- One way to construct a right-angled triangle is to make a line between (x,0) and (x,1) and then choose anyother vertex. These can be easily calculated.
- The second way to construct a right-angled triangle is the follows:-
- Make a triangle between (x,0), (x + 1,1), (x + 2,0)
- Make a triangle between (x,1), (x + 1,0), (x + 2,1)
- We can count both the occurences and add them up together to get our answer.

- Using basic formulae from Arithmetic progression we can come up with the formula for |a[1] + a[2] + ... + a[i] - a[i + 1] - ... - a[n]| to be equal to |2ki + i(i - 1) - n(n - 1) / 2 - kn|, we can see that the last two terms are fixed.
- I tried differentiating this wrt to i but it did not work, so I used binary search.
- I will take the left two terms and binary search on them and compare them with the right two terms.
- We will have to run binary search twice:
- First for finding the largest i such that 2ki + i(i - 1) <= kn + n(n - 1) / 2
- Second for finding the smallest i such that *2ki + i(i - 1) >= kn + n(n - 1) / 2
- We will take the minimum of the two values to get our answer.

Closing thoughts Happy with the day, I was able to achieve everything I set out to do for the day. Tomorrow I have office work so gym is not a possibility. Other than that lets see what I can make of the day tomorrow.

My kid is having a regression with food, sleep, stimming, eye contact and behaviour (less happy, more cranky/ nervous). It’s because we started nursery/ pre kindergarten. It happened previously when we were in toddler groups too and eventually the stimming got too disruptive that I left those.
The sleep and eye contact aren’t so bad and will return. The food has become much restricted and sadly, she’s much more stressed. She is much better at weekends but when Monday rolls around, it’s always a massive struggle to get her to go back. Any advice?

So the ROCD has been kicking my ass the last couple weeks, it was at bay beforehand where I would have a thought and be upset by it, but 3 hours later I’d have forgotten what the thought even was.
We have a 4 month old baby, it is our first baby, we’ve been stressing about baby things and money a lot recently and then last week found out our flatmates are moving out earlier than expected. Cue my wife becoming slightly petty about it. That was a week ago.
Now I’ve started seeing things that aren’t there. My thoughts are telling me she doesn’t appreciate me enough even though she does things that show she does (like making my lunch and dinner, buying me snacks without me asking, doing the washing and all that) Last night we had a argument because she found some dishes I had washed weren’t washed properly and rather than apologising and saying I’ll try better next time I responded by basically gaslighting her for pointing it out by saying “I feel like you don’t appreciate the effort and only ever point out the things that are wrong and that reinforces the thought that I can’t do anything right” keep in mind this is all happening while a baby is screaming. I now feel that all hope might be lost in this relationship because my self-destructive thoughts are just getting worse. I’m so exhausted…
Am I overreacting? Is this even ROCD?? Or is there an actual problem?

Look, i love this game, i loved it from when i first started playing the game back in april. Since then i have clocked a little under 3000 hours into the game and im MR23. BUT! the amount of game breaking bugs is actually insane to me. the necramechs FIRST ABILITY had been broken for years since recently meaning leveling it beyond 0 for the first time is actually abysmal. On the other hand profit taker makes no sense with the hitboxes on her legs and that she sometimes will just be in the ground. Garudas 4th ability literally locks her out of parkour stuff if you spam it alot, like, THE MOST FUN PART of the gawd damm game man. That is to name a few....
DE i love ur game, i love the community and im super hype for the 1999 content, but really? when i fundamentally cant play the game is it really gonna be fun in the future?
Anyways, feel free to tell me your gamebreaking bug experiences, i do hope you fix some of the worse bugs DE
