2024.11.28 20:40 Weekly-Title-6076 A month of small changes that made a big difference in my health (no more bloating, brain fog, or afternoon crashes)

A month of small changes that made a big difference in my health (no more bloating, brain fog, or afternoon crashes) Hey Reddit fam,
I wanted to share something that's genuinely made a huge difference for me lately. For what feels like forever, I've been dealing with constant bloating (the kind where your clothes suddenly don't fit), those brutal afternoon energy crashes, and brain fog that made even simple tasks feel impossible.
At first, I just blamed it on the usual suspects - stress, busy schedule, not eating perfectly, whatever. But it kept happening, and I started thinking there might be something bigger going on.
That's when I stumbled across research about the gut-brain axis during one of my late-night health anxiety scrolling sessions (we've all been there, right?). Mind = blown. Your gut and brain are literally in constant communication, and your gut health affects everything from your mood to your focus to your energy levels. Who knew?
I decided to dive deeper into gut health research and started implementing some changes. It's been about a month, and honestly? The difference is wild:
  • That "6-months-pregnant" bloating? Almost completely gone
  • Those 2PM energy crashes where I needed 3 coffees just to function? Way less frequent
  • The brain fog that made me feel like I was thinking through mud? Finally lifting
Here's the thing - I'm not doing anything extreme. Started with some basic lifestyle changes:
LIFESTYLE:
  • Eating slowly and mindfully (actually chewing food properly now)
  • No food 3 hours before bed
  • 15-min walks after meals
  • Basic stress management (10-min meditation)
DIET CHANGES:
  • Added fermented foods (kimchi, Greek yogurt, kefir)
  • More fiber-rich foods (chia seeds, flax, leafy greens)
  • Cut back on processed foods and sugar
  • Staying hydrated (tracking water intake)
Here's what made the biggest difference (combo of supplements):
1. Probiotic + digestive enzymes for improved digestion.

2. Mind & gut complex - really helped with brain fog and energy

3. Zinc - for gut barrier support.

4. L-Glutamine - to help repair my gut lining.

5. Vitamin complex - this reduced inflammation and helped balance my gut microbiota. (Just finished, so can't find the bottle, soooorrry!)
P.S. Not to get, what really set the stage for these changes was starting with a simple 14-day detox. It acted as a gentle reset for my gut, helping to reduce bloating, improve digestion, and make me feel lighter overall. During those two weeks, I made some big changes to my diet as well. Before, I was eating a lot of processed foods, sugary snacks, and honestly, meals that were more about convenience than nutrition.

With the detox, I focused on eating cleaner - things like leafy greens, chia seeds, and flax, along with fermented foods like kimchi and yogurt. I cut out processed foods and drastically reduced sugar, which was a huge shift for me. It wasn’t easy at first, but by the end of the two weeks, I noticed a huge difference in how I felt. It really seemed like my body was finally ready to absorb all the good stuff I was introducing, and it motivated me to stick to healthier habits moving forward.
On top of these changes, I’ve been using this one too as part of my routine - it’s a gentle gut cleanse 14 day complex.
Plus added in anti-inflammatory foods (turmeric, ginger) and gut-soothing teas (chamomile, peppermint). The supplements combined with better eating habits really seemed to make everything click.
It's not just about digestion - my energy is better, mood is more stable, and I actually feel clear-headed again. It's wild how connected everything is.
I keep seeing posts about similar symptoms, so I'm curious - has anyone else looked into the gut-brain connection? What's worked for you?
Let's share experiences - honestly feels like this might be the missing piece for a lot of us who've been feeling "off" without knowing why.
P.S. In just a month, I’ve managed to lose 3 kg, feel lighter and more energized, and most importantly, regain control of my health. This journey has been nothing short of transformative, and I’m incredibly proud of the progress I’ve made. For the first time in a long while, I truly feel like the best version of myself!!!!!!

2024.11.28 20:40 Lukkeren While trying to tab §6, i certainly understand what Mikael has meant by it being difficult!

I'm currently working on a tab for this masterpiece and what i've figured out is how insanely difficult this song truly must be to play, especially live! It honestly doesn't sound that difficult without truly deep diving into what they're playing, but there's SO MANY details in the guitar, bass, synth and drums that CAN'T be missed to make this song work. Probably one of the most technical songs Mikael's ever come up with. I wish them good luck if they ever try to play this live and i'll be baffled if they nail it perfectly!

2024.11.28 20:40 Rumpelstiltskinnem You hear American standups talk about how they need to be careful in the UK because people get arrested for saying things there but is that really true?

There are some obvious examples of people getting dates pulled, Jerry Sadowitz is an important example, but I don't know it actually is more risky. He was shouting Rishi Sunak is a p**i, obviously in his vile character to almost anyone who had seen any of him, but very little chance of a hate speech charge as far as I know. A black English bloke got arrested recently for jokingly saying some racist shit about Thomas Partey, the Arsenal football player, but could that not happen in the US too?

2024.11.28 20:40 Rem1xed Proton Mail Plus + Proton Pass Lifetime

Considering taking the step to move to proton and I've been trying to come up with the best way to do so for a while.
I've considered just going mail plus but then I miss out on the aliasing that simplelogin provides, considered unlimited but with the constant negative feedback around drive, not needing calendavpn it feels like it may not be for me.
Is Proton Mail Plus + Proton Pass Lifetime the solution? I won't be using proton pass as I use bitwarden but I like that I can make a one time purchase and get simplelogin aliases. This also means I can keep my monthly subscription cost fairly low by going with mail plus instead of unlimited.
Thoughts?

2024.11.28 20:40 Gantsta New build for casual gaming (~£800)

Looking to build a new PC for casual gaming - nothing too intensive (HoTS, The Sims, Apex etc.) I built my last PC ages ago and have had nothing but problems with it. Random freezes, BSOD, GPU artifacting etc. Have tried changing out different hardware but issues still persist, so time for a new build! Looking to spend around £800. Thanks!

New build
Have a keyboard, mouse, monitor. Hesitant to use any existing parts from my old PC because I'm not sure what has been causing the issue. I have an SSD which I would imagine is fine to use in this build? It is a Crucial MX500, but only 500GB so may be worth upgrading too.
Gaming (HoTS, The Sims, Apex etc.), work (Microsoft Office software, Google Chrome etc.).
UK
Have an old Dell U2414H monitor (1080p) I will be using for now.
Looking to spend £800, but am willing to stretch to £850, maybe £900 if it will significantly improve the build.
WiFi. Have a WiFi dongle from my old build.
The smaller and quieter the better!
No.
Not really, just looking for something that will last!
