2024.11.28 20:44 therevallison Swing sets
I really want a swing set for my kid/s.
I have a job where I move every handful of years - always within state. Spent the last 6 years in one place. Been in my current place for a year. It's a toss up but I estimate I may move 2-4 times before my kids are out of the house. Is it worth it to move with a swing set? I'd hate for my job to deprive them of this piece of childhood - and easy entertainment.
If it's worth it - what swing sets under 2000 do you love? Big enough to be fun and last but not too big to move every handful of years....

2024.11.28 20:44 NotChickenHeadGamer PC not working as it should after upgrade
my brother has recently bought a PNY 4070 ti Super and a RM850e power supply. After I had installed the new components the pc would boot but the vga light was on and there was no picture. After a few reboots it started and he could play for hours. Then he shut it off and restarted it and the same problem occurred. His pc wouldn’t recognise his GPU, Then he got it to boot and there was no problem. Now the day after it has gotten worse. His PC boots normally but it now randomly crashes when he starts a game. He can watch videos and do regular pc stuff but as soon as he starts playing a game it crashes. Anyone got an idea of the problem?

2024.11.28 20:44 DontMisuseYourPower Elbaf despited with Freud's model of the mind [Chapter 1131]
This idea was inspired with the notion about Elbaf being seperated in three geographical levels: Underworld, sun world, heaven world. Between those three levels within Elbaf is a steep vertical incline portrayed by the panels shown in the manga. It seems counterintuitive of all the countries in the one world universe, the country with the most distinct seperation between borders is Elbaf, because each native within Elbaf has a much greater mass than a normal human. Elbaf should hypothetically sink into the ocean.
Freud's model of the mind: Id, Ego and super ego
About Freud's model of the mind and its use explaning Elbaf geographical divisions. Freud's model of the mind has three divisions: Id, Ego, and Superego.
2024.11.28 20:44 Lost-Level-1253 Myomectomy in W Europe
I thought I'd share my experience of getting a myomectomy in Western Europe, since I didn't see a lot of such recounts here. I'm in a rather small country but I imagine things are quite similar all across continental WE.
My fibroid was first diagnosed a few years ago back when it was small and "nothing to worry about". I didn't and I actually forgot I had it, believe it or not. Looking back I wasn't entirely asymptomatic but nothing was truly notable apart from frequent urination. My periods were on the heavier side but very regular and would only last 4 days.
Fast forward to February 2024, an ultrasound at my obgyn's has shown it has now grown to 7.x cm. He said it grew really fast and immediately referred me for a myomectomy. I was given a list of hospitals and he recommended and circled one. I called there and they said their next free appointment would be in June so I called a different hospital and was able to get an appointment right away within 2 weeks.
At the hospital, they did an extensive ultrasound but offered no MRI. The obgyn on duty said she would try and get it out via a laparoscopy but there was a chance I would need open. I asked her if there was also a chance this would turn into an emergency hysterectomy and she said technically they have to say that it's a possibility but it "wouldn't happen". In their entire history the hospital never had it happen apparently and it was statically very rare in developed countries these days.
She did say the surgery would leave a scar and any pregnancy afterwards would be high risk. As an alternative I was actually offered UFE which I later found out is not recommended for women hoping to conceive unless a myomectomy is impossible.
I went home to take some time and think about and research my options. In the end I decided to go with the hospital my obgyn originally recommended (a large Catholic hospital specializing in fertility preservation). By then appointments were only available in July but I decided to wait anyway.
My appointment there also included an ultrasound and no MRI, although I immediately liked the hospital more and they had better newer equipment. They said they would do a robotic assisted laparoscopy and the chances I'd need open myo weren’t high. I did need to sign a separate paper stating I understood that my myoma could be malignant and am agreeing to in-bag morcellation.
My surgery was scheduled for October. I got a call from the hospital about 2 weeks prior saying I'd need to come in for a preliminary appointment and bring the results of an ECG and a blood test which should be done by my GP. At my appointment I only saw the anesthesiologist and signed a huge folder full of various papers, from health history to privacy and data laws agreements.
They told me to come to the hospital on the day of the surgery at 8 am and go up directly to gynecology. At the station, they checked me in and a nurse gave me a gown, stockings and underwear for the surgery to put on. They've taken a blood test and checked my vitals. My room had 3 people(me and 2 others) but it was quite large and the beds were separated with curtains.
I was taken upstairs to the theatre along with my bed. There I had to wait for a while in a queue of sorts but not for long (maybe 15 min). 2 male nurses lifted me off my bed and through a very large low window of sorts on a stretcher that was on the other side. They also put on a surgical cap on me and a very warm sheet, my gown was removed at the shoulders (you're under the sheet for this).
Then I was wheeled into an operation room and the anesthesiologist told me she's given me something to calm down first and I wouldn't be asleep just yet. The room was freezing cold and they put on some longnfoil-enforced socks on my feet and a pipe over my shoulder that blew warm air. They showed me the robot(it still had its arms folded and in my doped up mind looked funny/cute) and said the head of dept would be operating it from the console and the other surgeon will be at my side the entire time. This surgeon said he wants me to breathe a bit into the oxygen mask before they start so that my lungs would be full.
I remember talking to all of them and laughing and then it was like I blinked and was in recovery already. They never told me I'm being put sleep already, it was like one second I was there, another I was waking up already. The surgery took about 3.5hrs. The nurses told me it went well, no bleeding and complications. I was in recovery for about the same time.
When I woke up my abdomen felt immediately lighter and was cramping but I was on pain meds so it didn't hurt, just the sensation was there. Both my hands had needle ports in them after surgery and there was another thick needle at my pulse on the wrist which they apparently use to instameasure blood pressure. It was removed before I left recovery, removal didn't hurt since pain meds. I was drifting in and out of sleep most of the time. I was wheeled back to my room and given a heparin shot. I texted my family (they'd already called the station before and knew I was ok) and feel asleep immediately, woke up at 4am, still had a slow pain drip so no great pain and I just fucked around on the phone until a nurse came in after 6am and took my vitals and blood from the crook of my elbow since both my ports had had medication in them.
After breakfast, another team of nurses came and the chief one said she'll remove my catheter and "we'll try and get up". I was worried about removal before but it didn't hurt whatsoever.
Here I have to say, we don't get strong meds like oxycontin in Europe unless the pain is very severe. Mine never was so all I got was IV paracetamol and then orally Metamizole. My first two days my insides felt weird and "mushy" but it was very bearable.
Anyways she told me to put one knee up after another, roll to my side, lower my feet and then push myself off, but never pull myself upright on something. Urination was unpleasant but not very painful. I didn't have a bowel movement for 3 days until I asked for a stool softener. I stayed at the hospital for 3 nights (the standard is 3-4 nights) and was encouraged to walk a little each day. Visitation hours were fairly strict although this varies from country to country.
The doctor came in every day and so did nurse who'd take a blood test and bp each time. The doctor didnt tell me much only that it went well and that my fibroid was 8cm by the time of surgery and I also has another 2cm one. They've removed everything. The large one was a FIGO 5 fibroid which isn't optimal.
My first two weeks at home I wasn't in a lot of pain but I was super sleepy and would get fatigue from a small lap across the little park around my house. I couldn't sit up for long without feeling heaviness and a desire to lay down. The localized pain and discomfort have improved greatly over the next weeks but fatigue remained for a while.
I'm six weeks out and just had my ultrasound appointment today and I still felt like lying down for a nap afterwards. My external incisions healed super fast. My internal one seems to be doing fine also. My abdomen has flattened but I still have the shelf. You know the shelf. I was told to call after a week or so after my discharge for my biopsy result and it was benign but cellular, so it probably grew much faster than normal fibroids and might or might not have higher recurrence rates. If you're reading this and worrying, the vast majority of fibroids are not cellular.
It's already a super long post so I won't post any redundant lists of what to take since that's already been widely discussed on the sub. I will say that I was given a list during my preliminary appointment and it mentioned clothes but they give you a normal clean gown every day (not the open in the back one like for surgery just a long sleeved gown from the same material really). Clean mesh underwear too and the bathroom had a large stash of those huge pads you put inside which was more practical than wearing normal underwear at first.
I didn't end up needing the clothes at all. For my trip home, I had a small pillow that I'd hold against my abdomen in the car, so I'd recommend that.
My frequent urination is mostly gone. I had 2 periods in the 6.5 weeks already and my second one was a lot heavier. I had light post-op spotting leading up all the way to my first which they said was normal. My 2nd period had quite a few clots although none of them huge. My fibroid was lateral on the corpus uteri so it was distorting the uterus a bit. It now seems to have largely reshaped itself already.
For now, I'm glad I had the surgery but I definitely wouldn't recommend underestimating it. It takes a lot out of you. Chatgpt+ seems quite appaled at the guidelines all these top medical websites give you and advises to take things very easy until the uterus has stabilized at 12 weeks.
