2024.11.28 21:50 LittleWriterJoe Did I take away my players' agency during this encounter?

If you know an npc named Derby Dirtbottom look away.
Recently I was talking to a player of mine and he expressed that he felt the party couldn't do much during an encounter they had a few sessions ago. I tried to explain my perspective of the situation but we can't seem to agree and I want to try and at least learn from this to not make the same mistake. So I am hoping to share and get more insight (and yes I plan to speak to my other players as well). Tl;Dr the lesson might be to make the options my players have more obvious and clues about people's intentions more on the nose.
The encounter:
The party was sent on a mission to a rough part of town as guards and were given a tip about a sketchy npc new to the area who may have connections to the recent arsons. On this guard duty the party meant this NPC and his companion (GC and IB). GC explained that they are doctors and believe the fires are caused due to a variant of wildmagic that a few kids they were treating in an orphanage had suffered from. They explained that one may have survived and is causing these fires. Without probing further the party decided to work together with GC and IB. If had a succesful insight check they would have found fault in their words. Plus they just met these two while being warned that they were new to this area yet the two claim to have been there before.
They tracked the kid down who was giving off a tremendous amount of heat and seemed to be incoherent. GC told the party they needed to keep the kid calm. GC remarked to the kid that they're here to help and the kid muttered about medecine and burning hinting that maybe the doctors weren't altruistic. One wildshaped into a cat and approached the kid which I remarked the room was hotter the closer to the kid they got and proceeded to fail a save and took 4 fire damage transforming them back and stressing the kid further causing the heat to grow. I reminded the party to that they could do non lethal attacks to try and knock out the kid or grapple him if needed. The party fanned out and GC told them they need to subdue the kid. Another party member failed a persuasion check and GC used a homebrew spell that stuns but also causes damage almost killing the kid. This caused the party to then get into a side combat encounter (even exhanging some blows) with GC and IB but then they all agree to work together and allow IB to use a sleeping potion on the kid (who needed to fail on the constitution saving throw which he did) ending the encounter.
My thoughts:
The party readily trusted GC and IB without testing their claims and didn't choose to dig further (even with being warned that these individuals were sketchy). They also ignored the kid's response to GC's attempt to calm him. But some members did attempt actions and they just had bad rolls. In the end it was suppose to be a high stress situation with quick decisions especially when it came down to if they would side with the NPCs or go against them and handle the kid themselves in whatever way they saw fit (as it was explained this wild magic condition is very dangerous). Did I handle this poorly? This is my first time DMing a campaign and besides this everything has been going well so far!

2024.11.28 21:50 throwawaystowaway256 [FTM] Trouble maintaining vocal weight pre-T

I've got pretty much everything down except for this. Most of the concepts I got pretty quickly when I first started training since I had singing lessons as a kid, and I get the idea behind what FTMS are supposed to achieve with all of them—pitch, resonance, volume, most of them came pretty easy, but it's this damn "buzziness" thing that keeps tripping me up.
I'm able to reach a weight that I'm pretty happy with now, but there are still these really noticeable "glitches" in my masc voice where it sort of clips back into my normal weight and it's really starting to piss me off. I've been looking everywhere for some sort of specific solution or exercise to mitigate it but either I'm using way different phrasing from everyone else or no one else seems to be stuck on this problem. Does anyone have any advice??? Please it's so frustrating

22 anos, endomorfo. 1,70m/90kg.
Não consigo fazer 10 flexões, que dirá 20 abdominais, vejo instruções de treino e dizem que esse é o padrão iniciante. Sou tão ruim assim?
Eu não ligaria de ser gordinho, se pelo menos parte disso fosse músculos, mas aparentemente eu sou só uma lombriga obesa.
Comecei essa semana a fazer jejum intermitente de 24 horas (só almoçando), e consigo fazer no máximo: 3x 5 flexões com halter, 3x 10 abdominais, 3x 10 agachamentos com 10kg e 2x 20 bíceps com halter de 5kg, não é por falta de energia, antes do jejum já era assim.
É "normal" ser assim? Nunca quis ser todo definido, mas sinto como se eu não tivesse músculo algum. Devo continuar fazendo o que estou fazendo ou é perda de tempo por ser muito pouco?
